Firedtv dvb-t and technotrend s2-3600 support
Posted by: rafahol - 2009-05-15, 02:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I have been already testing a lot of htpc software and would like to use a client/server software that is stable enough to do the following:

Server:
- dvb-t and dvb-s2 channels (using firedtv dvb-t via firewire receiving digitenne package in the Netherlands and using technotrend s2-3600 dvb-s2 receiving Hispasat)
- movies (most of formats)
- music (from Synology NAS)
- photos (from Synology NAS)
- radio like above from terrestrial and satellite

Hardware used:
- WIN7 RC with 4 GB RAM
- HTPC=MAC MINI 1.83 GHz intel core 2 duo

Client:
- Bedroom with LCD and EEEBOX B202
- OS: WINXP HOME Edition with 1 GB RAM
- CPU: 1.6 GHz (Atom processor)

I have been using a lot MACOSX software like Frontrow/Plex together with Remote Buddy but because of the client/server environment I moved to WINDOWS platform using MediaPortal. This packages was giving me always bugs and so not too stable to be used as a htpc package.

The question is that I discovered your htpc software and would like to know if my Technotrend s2-3600 and firedtv is supported?

If yes I might SageTV a try Can you also describe why SageTV would be 'better' then for example other htpc software?

Regards,
Rafael

  Incorrect show length on PCH
Posted by: philly_phenom - 2009-05-15, 02:08 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

I have a few recordings that playback fine on my PC (H.264 recordings from HD-PVR), but the show length is displayed as roughly a quarter of the actuall length when I play it back on the PCH. Skipping is next to impossible in this case.

Do you want me to try to send you a video or something?

Keep having to restart recording service
Posted by: philly_phenom - 2009-05-15, 01:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Recently I find that every couple of days, I'm unable to schedule any recorings & previously scheduled recordings fail to start.

Restarting the recording service rectifies this (until the next time).

The last occurence was at some point between 8:55 & 9:12 this morning.

I killed the recording service & the tray app @ 9:12 so I could collect all the logs.

Manual Recording of Analogue Channel - No Output File
Posted by: vbmds - 2009-05-15, 05:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

We are having an ongoing intermitent issue with Manual Recording of an Analogue Source, HVR-2200 PCI-E card, not producing an output file.

We are running version 1.3.11. Only one channel has been setup, 99, the Analogue (s-video) connector of the HVR-2200.

gbpvr is being run under Vista Business 32bit, that is fully updated. PC has 4GB of RAM and more than 100GB of free space on the HDD where the Manual Recording is supposed to be putting its output file. gbpvr is running with Admin Rights - User/exe has Full Control.

We find that after 3 or 4 reboots creation of the Output file restarts and we can record to our hearts content for several days and then it stops again.

Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Live TV - Auto-Mute during adverts
Posted by: proceng - 2009-05-14, 11:49 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Hi All,

I would love to see a enhanced comskip-type app. which auto-mutes adverts during live TV. The adverts are already being marked so it appears logical (to a novice) that muting is another small step. It could go into a "press any key to unmute" type mode to avoid any untimely mistakes.

Analog Channel and Digital Channel with same name
Posted by: jcmorris_99 - 2009-05-14, 05:35 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have a problem with a Analog and a Digital Channel both having the same name in the guide. I use Schedule Direct and have removed and update the guide, but still no luck. The Analog channel is on 10 and the Digital is 115, but 115 is not added and if I add it it will give me no detail. I can map it to the channel 10 and get it working that way, but then don't have the analog channel. I tried to change the name to wgnamedt from wgname but still no go. Anyone have an ideal what I can do to get this on both. Thanks, Chris

Video Library - Directories showing Thumbnail?
Posted by: dalabera - 2009-05-14, 03:46 PM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (5)

Is there a configuration or method to force the video layout to look into the directory to grab the picture for the thumbnail.
I want to have my large inventory of videos by directories since there are some that have multiple files and subtitles and don't care even about the name which normally is very large for the screen.
Thanks

  Dongle Recommendations

My GBPVR config says "Warning: The default Dongle.Bin is incompatible with Vista". My MVP unit appears to be still working. Where could I find a Vista Compatible dongle?

Some DVB-S channels work, others don't
Posted by: liteswap - 2009-05-14, 08:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Although a GBPVR user for almost three years now, this is my first dip into digital - and I'm a bit stumped.

My question is: why would some digital (DVB-S) channels work fine, while others don't? Some channels seem to play - they show up in the tuner status as playing - and seem to overlay the TV Listings screen with an invisible layer, although there's no audio. Pressing Stop stops playing, and tuner status reverts to Sleeping.

I've done two or three channel scans, have compared by scan cache against some of the ones posted here, and the tuning parameters do match. I've also downloaded and installed all the latest patches posted by sub. I've even tried switching between renders - and of course I've searched the forum. Nothing seems to make a difference.

Tuner hardware is a Compro Videomate S350 - which does also display some oddities, such as tuning into a station fine using the TV Listings screen, but complaining of lack of signal when channel surfing via Live TV. I'm not sure if this is connected or a separate problem. I would appreciate some thoughts. Thanks.

PS: Have now tried it with other TV programmes, and the channels that GBPVR can't access work there - including ones that are reported as encrypted (eg E4) but which aren't...
