I've been living with these few gremlins for a while, because otherwise the GBPVR software is really stable, but I think it's time I mention them and see if anyone else can comment.
Bugs:
- The video and music library root folders don't update to show new content unless you either restart GBPVR, or you navigate to a different drive and back again. Can be fustrating.
- On some UK channels, when the feed changes between 16:9 and 4:3, the video is lost. It is necessary to change to another channel and back again. Frequent issue watching 'Father Ted' on Channel 4.
- When a new recording starts on another tuner while one is in progress on the first tuner, sometimes the first file gets a glitch in it which causes the video to pause. It is necessary to exit back to Recordings menu and then fastforward past that point in the file.
Wishlist:
- Could it be possible to scroll around the Video and Music libraries from Z to A. i.e., if I'm on an item starting Z, pressing down will take me to the top where the As are. And vice versa.
- Extra controls in music library (FF, RW), could the record button be used to add the selected song to a one off playlist, like a jukebox style thing?
I'm using Win XP SP3.
I once had my nine OTA channels loaded into GB-PVR, but then I deleted my EPG and wanted to try manually inputting these channels.
That didn't work either, so I started over just like I did when first installed GB-PVR four days ago.
Once installed, I started config and made the usual settings for OTA ATSC with my HVR-1600.
In "Capture Sources", I added my card under "Recording Source", set this to "Digital Recording Plugin", selected "Settings", on this page, I selected "Hauppauge HVR 1600 (ATSC)"
Next I clicked OK back to the "Recording Source" page and selected "XMLTV plugin" for my EPG.
Now I needed to get the "mc2xml.exe" from http://mc2xml.110mb.com
Next I followed the instructions at: http://mc2xml.110mb.com/#gbpvr
Once this was finished, I went back to GB-PVR "Recording Source" page (accessed with the edit button on your cards name in "Capture Sources" page)
Then I clicked "Update EPG"
Once this was done, I used the "Map digital channels to EPG channels"
This is where digital TV scanning occurrs.
This worked for me on the first day, but hasn't worked since.
I once had 6 channels without subs, then added the subs later.
Now I have been scanning all day between fresh installs of new Hauppauge drivers, cleaning the registry with CC Cleaner, rebooting many times, uninstalling GB-PVR, reg clean, reboot, reinstall GB-PVR, and scanning many more times. I even used a codec checker and re-installed Combined-Community-Codec-Pack
I still cannot get any digital ATSC channels to scan in the scan page of GB-PVR.
All channels work in WinTV-6 and Win-TV-7
I also get all my channels on my OTA televisions.

Also do you have audio and video codecs installed and selected on the playback tab? System Default is not acceptable for the decoders (but is fine for the audio RENDERER), and the MPEG Decoder provided with Windows XP won't work either. For OTA HD in the US, you need to have an MPEG-2 video decoder, MPEG Audio decoder (usually the builtin XP one is OK), and an AC3 decoder (usualy the AC3 decoder will decode MPEG Audio as well, so you can select the same for both)
If you've done all that and have the same problem (or another problem), reproduce the problem and then zip and post your gbpvr/logs directory.
I downloaded MPV and MPA and AC3 codecs from free-codecs.com and installed them as instructed on that page.
I enabled them in the Playback tab, but I still get no channels.
Using the codecs from Hauppauge: (Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge) in the "Playback" page results in a "memory protection error" when scanning for channels.
I'm new to the program, and finally got it to work with my 950Q and can see video, thanks to the forums.
The issue I'm having now is with recording. I set up a manual recording, and it said it was recording, but no file was created. I copied/pasted the portion of the log that I think shows the problem and attached it. Can someone please take a look and let me know what they think the issue is?
First, I will explain my setup.
Currently I have:
A Windows-based server
3 computers in various rooms
A couple of spare PCs I could set up on the TV
Hardware I would get to do this:
2 dual DVB-T tuners.
Okay, what I would like to do is install the TV tuners into the server and be able to record to the server, so all the PCs can watch recorded shows. On top of this, I would like to be able to stream video to the other PCs, especially the one attached to the TV, in place of a MyFreeview unit (which are just too expensive).
I understand this should be possible, but I have a couple of questions.
1. Is the video decoded on the server, or the client? I ask as I would like to know whether a spare laptop I have with integrated video would work, or if I really ought to set up a desktop with hardware MPEG-4 decoding.
2. When TV is recorded, does the computer decode anything, or is it just deposited on the disk in a raw format? Again, this is about hardware, as the server only has a GMA3100, it would struggle to decode HD MPEG-4 streams without a new video card.
3. Am I correct in thinking that having 4 tuners will mean I am able (in theory) to record all the TV stations at the same time? I believe Wellington transmits with 3 transponders (I don't think that is quite the right word for it), as when I tune my STB they always appear in three groups. (1,2,6,7 in one, 3,4,8 in another, 5,100, and the other stations in the third.)
but all channels found with the TV software that came with this PCI card.
Who can tell me why I can't found any channel when I scan frequencies with tuner 1 or tuner 2 of this card ? I've checked the bda.ini, everything seems OK with parameters for this Pinnacle Dual DBV-T PCI card.
All I have when I scan is for all frequencies "Strenght 0 Quality 0".
And, something more weird, when I try to scan with GBPVR selecting this card, while the pinnacle TV software is also running and receiving TV from this tuner, the scan of GBPVR tells me "Strengh -43 Quality 100".
Anybody have a clue about my frustrating problem ?
I thought I had solved my problems with the analog side of my Hauppauge1600 (washed out picture, not as crisp as straight out of the STB) by opening GBPVR in VMR9 and adjusting the video proc amp of the 1600 in Graphedit. The picture was very close to the original, but as soon as I opened GBPVR in VMR9 FSE the picture went back to washed out. I played around with both GBPVR (VMR9) and Graphedit, watching the changes as they were being made but each time I opened GBPVR in FSE, the old picture came back. I'm at a loss to explain this if they both use the same player. Could someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks.
I'm trying to reinstall GBPVR (PVRX2) on a fresh Vista 32 install. I want to share GBPVR with other user accounts. I had it running that way for well over a year but began having stability issues. I'm having trouble setting it up this time around and assume I'm making a basic mistake. I have given Modify security access to the acount for the GBPVR folder and all of my video folders listed in the Directory portion of GBPVR Config. I currently have UAC turned off, Anonymous Logon set to Modify, and I have a password for the standard account, yet I'm getting the following error:

On install, GBPVR short cuts, etc are only installed in the Admin account. I seem to recall the Recording service shortcut in the Startup menu of all accounts before as well as the Confgi and PVRX2 shortcuts. I've tried sharing the folder etc. with no success. Am I missing something?
