  F7 busted and 16x9 black sidebars
Posted by: gkreis - 2009-04-24, 07:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Slowly I am getting the migration from my old PC running GBPVR to this new one worked out (moving over old recordings, etc.) , but I am really puzzled by this one.... running PVR2 to an HDTV (1080p).

I can't get F7 to work (it doesn't do anything) and my 1920x1080 recordings play compressed horizontally so there are two black bars on the edges. Sort of half the size of those needed to make the ratio 4:3. I have set the TV size in config.exe to 16:9. I programmed a button on the Hauppage remote for F7 (editing irremote.ini) and that didn't work (just in case my keyboard wasn't working right).

GBPVR reports that the recording is 1920x1080 (actually slightly larger by a couple of pixels) and when I play it back with MediaPlayer it fills the screen as expected.

This is out of my config.xml.

<TvShape>16x9</TvShape>
<AspectRatioModes shape="4x3">
<AspectRatioMode name="Auto" ratio="0,0,0,0" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Fill" ratio="0,0,1,1" />
<AspectRatioMode name="LetterBox" ratio="0,0.125,1,0.875" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Remove LetterBox" ratio="0,-0.125,1,1.125" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Center Cut" ratio="-0.05,-0.17,1.04,1.17" />
<AspectRatioMode name="PillarBox" ratio="0.08,0,0.92,1" />
</AspectRatioModes>
<AspectRatioModes shape="16x9">
<AspectRatioMode name="Auto" ratio="0,0,0,0" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Fill" ratio="0,0,1,1" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Remove LetterBox" ratio="0,-0.125,1,1.125" />
<AspectRatioMode name="PillarBox" ratio="0.08,0,0.92,1" />
</AspectRatioModes>
<AspectRatioModes shape="16x10">
<AspectRatioMode name="Auto" ratio="0,0,0,0" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Fill" ratio="0,0.05,1,0.95" />
<AspectRatioMode name="PillarBox" ratio="0.08,0,0.92,1" />
<AspectRatioMode name="Remove LetterBox" ratio="0,-0.125,1,1.125" />
</AspectRatioModes>

P.S.
My next issue is audio sync issues for QAM recordings, but I see other threads on that which I can study.

  Best record quality for xbox playback
Posted by: ThatJeremyGuy - 2009-04-24, 05:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

HI, I'm new to gbpvr but so far I'm a fan. I'm using an ATI TV Wonder 550 (Theater 550 Pro Processor). Of course this means I'm have an analog TV connection.

When watching Live TV on PVRX2 I'm very happy with the quality but my real goal is to be able to record shows and then watch them on my HDTV via my Xbox360. This means I must recode the mpg file. I gave the Xvid recode a try but I'm not happy with the quality. It shows up a little pixelated. I'm also not sure about the original .mpg recording. I've been considering the idea of changing the recording resolution but I'm not sure that would really make a difference since its just an analog signal to begin with.

I would appreciate any ideas anyone might have. Once again my goal is to get the best video quality for playback on my Xbox 360.

  How do you guys play DVD rips on the PCH?
Posted by: philly_phenom - 2009-04-23, 12:25 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (10)

If I select the *.dvd file from Video in GBPVR, it brings up the PCH player for a second & then goes back to the GBPVR menu. (using PCH2 version of mvpmcx2). Is there something else you need to do?

I've been exiting GBPVR & browsing to the Video share using the PCH interface & playing it from there for now.

  GBPVRTSReader crashes
Posted by: engnz - 2009-04-23, 10:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm using the latest GBPVRTSReader.ax in the 1.3.11 survival guide that can handle corrupted packets and it works great.

However it crashes when I use Graphedit now. Works fine when I use an earlier version of TSReader.

  No sound playing HDV ts file
Posted by: engnz - 2009-04-23, 05:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I'm using 1.3.11 with the latest TSreader from
http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=31

When playing back HDV recordings from my camcorder I don't get any sound. It works fine in Windows Media Player.

The logs seem to indicate that its defaulting to aac audio rather than mpeg. How do I change this setting?

  how to hide cable box guide and channel info
Posted by: rockx0zone - 2009-04-22, 11:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have the remote and IR blaster working with my cable box, however, when I change the channel I see comcast's channel info behind Media Portal's channel info. Is there any way to prevent this?

  ^i during dvd playback - no time
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2009-04-22, 10:24 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

When I press ^i during DVD playback, it brings up the timeline bar but not the rest of the OSD that comes up in other playback modes - in particular I've gotten in the habit of hitting ^i to see the current time.

So my specific wishlist request would be to add the current time to the DVD-playback OSD.

  Channel name has a colon in it, how can I get a logo in the guide?
Posted by: JP23 - 2009-04-22, 07:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,

As I understand it, filenames for channel logos need to be the same as the name of the channel, as you can't put a colon in a filename in Windows, this leaves me stuck.

Can I change the channel name in GBPVR and still somehow have it correspond to the original channel in my EPG data, or is there some other way around this?

It's only TMF:The Music Factory, which I never watch, but it's the only channel missing a logo and it looks untidy, I'm fairly tempted to just delete the channel.

  Why are Dual DVB-S cards so hard to find?
Posted by: siliconaudio - 2009-04-22, 09:38 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Black gold always seems to be out of stock on their 6-in-1 cards (which will do dual DVB-S), and everything else seems to have gone out of production.

Can anyone recommend a card I can buy in New Zealand or get sent to New Zealand? I prefer PCIe but PCI will do.

Anyone?
