  Client recordings failing
Posted by: SLR_65 - 2009-03-18, 12:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi Sub,

I thought my earlier problems were just a glitch as I had the client setup downstairs in my test bench and things seemed to be working lately, but I installed the client upstairs in the entertainment center so of course things have to get funky . . .

My daughter went to schedule a program to record and all went well until she hit the record button - then the machine froze up. she came and got me and sure enough it was froze up. I rebooted the machine and it booted up fine but when I went load PVRX2 it would give an hour glass and never load. Since it was in the entertainment center I didn't have a mouse or keyboard so I pulled it back out and took it back downstairs (I have the green Windows button on the remote programmed to load GBPVR so I can load it without a keyboard). Once downstairs I got the same problem. The machine wasn't locked up as I could call up task manager and stop PVRX2 when it stuck at the hour glass. I pulled up the config program and unchecked the client box in the tuner setup and then I could pull up GBPVR. I then wondered if it were a server problem.

I checked the server, it wasn't locked up or anything and would do anything I requested of it. None the less it wasn't recording anything so it wouldn't hurt to reboot so I rebooted it.

That fixed the problem and I could get the client to pull up after that. The show my daughter was trying to set a recording up for was also listed in the pending que.

OK, a few test runs and it seemed to be all good so I installed it back upstairs.

I then decided to try a recording scheduled from the client to see what would happen.

I scheduled Friends on channel 4 at 5 pm and it set the recording up just fine and showed it in the pending que.

At a little after 5 pm I checked to see if the show were recording and it wasn't. Hmmm, it showed up in the pending que as pending.

I went downstairs and checked the server and it showed the same thing. I exited the program and pulled up the GBPVR Tray and it said all the tuners were sleeping.

I then went back into GBPVR on the server and then checked to see if maybe reloading the program did something - it didn't, it was still showing the show as pending.

I then went to LiveTV just to check and see if the tuners were working. They were and I saw LiveTV, changed a channel, etc..

After that I went back to the pending que and the program was now recording! Both the server and client showed it recording and when it completed I checked and it had not been recording the first ten minutes as the recording was only 20 minutes long.

It seems recordings setup up from the client wont wake up the tuners unless they are woke up for LiveTV viewing on the server.

Attached are the server logs. I don't have the client logs as I forgot to share that directory so I can't pull them up through the network right now. The wife and kids are watching the client right now so I can't go pull it, but I will either later tonight or tomorrow afternoon and get the network setup so I can access the client fully.

Thanks Sub!

Steve

No Sound in LiveTV with HVR-1110
Posted by: WebAsh - 2009-03-17, 08:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi there,

I have GB-PVR configured, and video works, I can flick through channels and its all fine, but I get no sound on any of the channels. I'm from NZ and I'm using the Digital Tuner for the Freeview channels.

Originally I just had the Hauppauge drivers installed and then I installed GB-PVR, but I would get no video or sound. Then I installed CyberLink PowerCinema 5 and then I had some more decoders available in GB-PVR config which got me video - but I still have no sound.

I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate.

I've attached my filtercheck.log file in case it is a filter issue. I'm not sure what logs you want from /logs/ .

Cheers in advance..

  HVR-950Q No Channels
Posted by: shamrox - 2009-03-17, 08:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I have an HVR-950Q, I am using Zap2It xml.
1) I click digital recording plugin then select settings
2) I select Hauppauge HVR-950Q then select OK
3) I select XMLTV Plugin then settings
4) Select zap2it xml then ok
5) select update epg which tells me to save epg and i click ok
6) Channels load up
7) Click Map digitial channels to epg channels
8) No channels found

I have no clue what is the issue? WinTV, MediaPortal, MMC they all find channels but GBPVR doesn't....what am I doing wrong?

  Live TV buffer?
Posted by: pduncan67 - 2009-03-17, 07:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

What is this used for? Is the TS (I guess that's Time Shifting?)

When I watch live TV - the recording status shows that it is recording - but when I look at the Live TV buffer directory - it is empty (always). I did verify that the directory exists and that it is set up in config.

Can someone explain what this is for and maybe give me some insight into TS?

Thanks - and Happy St. Patrick's Day! Big Grin

  Network Streaming

Now that I have GBPVR set up and working, I would like to try using the network features to play back recorded material. My question is - does the 'client' need to have a TV Capture card installed?

Also - I have an old Win-TV GO card - it doesn't have on board MPEG compression so I know I cant use it to record - BUT - could I use it to simply watch live TV on my 'client' PC - and still use the EPG program guide?

  Can't get Blinky to work
Posted by: pduncan67 - 2009-03-17, 06:49 PM - Forum: Blinky and PhotoCopy Plugins - Replies (3)

I have tried this a few times now...

I copy the dll and xml file as specified in the instructions.

When I open config and go to plugins tab there is no 'blinky' plugin to uncheck (as stated in the documentation).

stopping/starting - even rebooting does not get it to work.

Any suggestions?

  EPG update adds a channel
Posted by: pduncan67 - 2009-03-17, 06:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am using Schedules Direct. In my area the History Channel is on 67 (without STB). If you have a STB it is on 71. Schedules Direct has the channel as 71 as well. When I set up my capture device and get the EPG listings I unchecked the channels I didn't want and then edited History channel to '67'.

This has worked fine for a while, but today I noticed that I now have 2 History Channels. I removed the channel in using config (by editing capture device). Also - the History Channel (ch. 67 in GBPVR) now has no data in the TV Guide.

Any suggestions?

  XP Suspend problem
Posted by: niranjan_rao - 2009-03-17, 05:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

For last few days I am noticing that my XP machine is not able get any rest. As soon as I hit the sleep/suspend button or let power saving mechanism kick in, machine wakes up again in few seconds.

I tried disabling active programs one by one and everything is normal when I disable the gbpvr service. Are there any known issues with GB PVR that might be disabling the sleep functionality?

I am also suspecting (no proof yet) a memory leak in GB PVR processes somewhere. Though task manager shows nothing abnormal for the process, my PF file usage becomes very high and machine becomes almost unusable - it stops responding to mouse/keyboard strokes. Only button that works is power button on the pc - hard reboot. Again after disabling GB pvr service, everything is ok.

GB Pvr package and XP patches are up to date. I don't have anything extra for GBPVR apart from download from standard directory. Machine is clean with freshly formatted drive and OS reinstall.

Any pointers to solve this problem will greatly appreciated.

  Hauppauge 1600-HVR...Is this possible??
Posted by: clubrulz - 2009-03-17, 05:00 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I have two different TV providers and was wondering if it is possible to configure GBPVR to read Satellite provider from S-video and Digi Cable from cable 3 (Analogue). I don't need to do it simultaneously, just need to have access to both inputs. (Some local channels are not on the Sat service, so I would like to record the cable 3 analogue for those).

If this will work can I map the guide to switch accordingly as well? For example, I am recording program 1 on satellite (S-video) and then I have a timer to record from (cable 3 input). Can this be done automatically?
