Scheduling oddness
Posted by: hollow5555 - 2009-03-17, 04:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

So I've been using 1.3.11 for a month or so now and I'm having some weird issues.

  1. From time to time it will fail to mark shows for recording.
In my recurring recordings I have GBPVR set to record all episodes of Scrubs on Comedy Central (channel 40 here). It's on every day from 7-7:30 and from 7:30-8:00 and is on at certain times on the weekends as well. For the last 2 weeks it simply stopped marking those shows for recording. Other recordings work fine. The episodes it's skipping are not already recorded and are not pending on any other channel. It just won't mark them to record, almost as if the episodes I deleted never actually got marked as deleted. It did work for a while, then stopped recently. I know it's not the EPG because I can see the episodes in the TV Guide listings on GBPVR that shows GBPVR does know the episode is listed.
If I accidentally cancel a recording and re-schedule it it will not show up in the pending list.
Last night I was looking through my scheduled recordings (investigating issue #1) and I accidentally hit "CANCEL" instead of "CLOSE" when looking at one of the pending recordings. It canceled that episode, of course. I then went back and manually marked that show to be recorded. It never showed up in the pending list. I don't know if it's scheduled now or not.

Last night it recorded something but didn't the episode it recorded never showed up in the ready list!
It started recording a show at 1:30am. The show completed at 2am, and shortly thereafter I went into the list of ready shows, selected the show, went down to the episode it just recorded and that episode wasn't there! It wasn't listed. It was as if it hadn't even recorded.

Occasional crash when exiting PVRx2.
When I exit PVRx2 sometimes I get a windows popup that PVRx2 crashed. When I looked in the pvrx2 logs I see a SQLite fault. This doesn't really concern me, but I thought I'd mention it.
I am using mc2xml for the listings.

I'm attaching my most recent logs which do include at least one EPG update. Has anyone else seen these issues? I didn't have these problems with older (.96.X) versions, but since upgrading these are the issues I've run into and I'm hoping someone has some ideas. I looked through the 1.3.11 thread but I haven't seen any patches that reference anything like this.

Help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Marc

  Missing TVNZ FreeviewHD channels
Posted by: engnz - 2009-03-17, 04:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I'm using HVR2200 to received FreeviewHD. Worked fine last year but have been getting problems receiving TVNZ channels this year.

I just ran a rescan and all the TVNZ channels are gone. I seem to get everything else though (TV3, C3, Maori TV, Parliment TV, Chinese, tvCentral..).

I tried all the suggestions in http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39138 but still no TVNZ channels.

When set to Waiatarua, I get zero signal strength and quality Scanning 1 of 3 and -20 and 100 for the scans 2 and 3. Does that mean a problem with my signal or my HVR2200?

After stepping up to latest FW, HDHR doesn't respond to GBPVR at all.
Posted by: philly_phenom - 2009-03-17, 01:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Since I'd been having problems, I figured I should step up to the latest software & FW for my HDHR. I figured if I needed support from Silicon Dust, they'd want me to do that anyway.

So I followed the instructions here. I did a channel scan in the config app (as the instructions stated), and it found a bunch of channels, but I'm unable to even preview them to map them. Every channel I click on in the channel mapper window just gives black.

My next thought was maybe I don't actually have to change the channel mapping, but now every recording on every channel (from the HDHR) is 0 size.

I can preview everything fine in the HDHR Setup application...

I'm not sure where to go for support here or Silicon dust. If I go to SD, what should I collect for them.

DVD Navigator Alternative or Way To Skip Titles?
Posted by: JBreits - 2009-03-17, 01:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Most DVDs that I try have not problems, I have some home-made DVDs that I burned a few years ago that will not play in GBPVR. When I go to the DVD module, it just goes to a blank screen until I hit the stop button. If I use MPC-HC, I get the same thing, except in MPC-HC, I am able to use the navigation menu to jump to Title 01.

The only thing different about these DVDs is that I had used IFO Edit to change the First Play PGC to force the audio and subtitle tracks to what I wanted as default. It appears that for whatever reason, the standard DVD Navigator does not process this PGC correct and does not automatically play Title 01.

The discs work fine in both my standalone DVD players. They also play fine in my WinDVD 4 software.

So, I'm wondering, what other DVD Navigators work well with GBPVR? I have Nero installed and used graph edit to build a graph using the Nero DVD Navigator. The graph worked and the DVD played Title 01, but when I tried to use it in GBPVR it crashed. I also tried using the Intervideo Navigator (from WinDVD4) which also crashed on some discs.

Anyone have experience using any of these or other DVD Navigator successfully with GBPVR?

Or, is there a way I can jump to a specific title on the disc within GBPVR?

Thanks,
JBreits

  Where is the "Transcode" Button?
Posted by: clubrulz - 2009-03-17, 01:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello all,

I am very new to GBPVR so please bear with me. I have decided to make an HTPC out of an old computer so I have done a clean install of Windows XP Pro SP2 and GBPVR. It seems to be running great, but I can't seem to find the "transcode" button that should be in the Video Library tab. I did have see it when I first intalled GBPVR, but I had all kinds of conflicts so I completely reformatted the HD and reinstalled everything and now no Transcode. I can set the auto transcode up no problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  Conceptronic ctvfmi2
Posted by: urgje - 2009-03-17, 01:06 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi,

Today I installed an older computer with Windows 2000 and GBPVR, planning to use it as a media PC. The TV/FM card is a Conceptronic CTVFMi2.
The chipset used on the CTVFMi2 is from Philips Type: SAA7131E , the tuner
is also a philips one: 8275AC1, IR chip seems to be KS003.

How do I set up GBPVR to use this card for capturing TV?

I've already been looking through the forums for similar questions (using searches on; Conceptronic, ctvfmi2 and SAA7131E) but without any hits.

Can anyone help me out here?

TIA

urgje

Clarification: EVR + XP + HA possible
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2009-03-17, 09:07 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I just got BBC HD setup using CoreAVC and it looks ok, I assumed that because I'm using XP and EVR that Hardware accel wouldn't work so I'm getting 70% cpu, which isn't really a problem.

On searching the forum on another topic I see some suggestions that HA+EVR is possible with some filters.

Does anyone have a definative answer?

Is it possible to have HA + EVR + XP + H.264?

If so which decoders?

Also do any of the hookey Directx 10 for XP releases give us any hope of DXVA2 on XP?

Thanks

Suggestions for working with HD PVR output
Posted by: rgann - 2009-03-17, 07:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

It was a cinch getting GBPVR to record using my new HD PVR; this program has really come a long way for user friendliness.

Here's my issue: What I'm used to doing is recording using a PVR-250, editing the output with Videoredo, and encoding with Autogk. This system works wonderfully. Now I'm faced with the .ts file made by the HD PVR, and I want to make a high quality avi (xvid). The pathway that I found worked was somewhat convoluted:

HDPVR -> ts file -> TotalMedia Editor "make disc" function -> tsMuxer (to cut the stream) -> Handbrake (avi, decomb)

This is particularly annoying in light of the fact that the truly awful TotalMedia software only works on my HTPC, not on my main computer (the application crashes when trying to make a disc). Another possibility is to use tspacketeditor to cut the ts stream directly and bypass the Totalmedia nonsense, but I didn't find that software to be very nice.

I know Videoredo is "working on" supporting this, but in the interim, has anyone found a less clunky way to do what I am interested in? I'd appreciate any advice.

  Odd Recording Issues
Posted by: glampe - 2009-03-17, 03:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I've been having a lot of unusual recording problems lately. Sometimes I get files with a zero byte size. Sometimes the recording stops half way through. And tonight I had a record not start at all.

Two shows recorded fine at 7:00PM and 7:30PM. A show should have recorded at 9:00PM failed. This was in the Event Viewer.

"The GB-PVR Recording Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s)."

I tried watching live TV after I noticed the fail and just had a black screen. I restarted the Recording Service and tried again and it worked, but it was using the standard recorder instead of the HD.

I've installed all the fixes in the 1.3.11 thread. I have a PVR-150 and a HVR-1600.
