I have the PCH A110 on the way. I plan on using it mainly as a GBPVR client in my home but I would also like to bring it with me at times and play media off an internal HDD on other TVs or the entertainment system in our van.
Is it going to be easy for me to disconnect and run it while not connected to the GBPVR server?
Well, I knew better but... maybe someone will learn from my mistake.
I had set my default video recording directory to a folder off the root of C. Everything was fine until I went out of town. (I generally clean up and/or archive recordings to another drive at night). When I got home from my trip, my system was acting a bit 'off' so I rebooted. Once the system came back I realized what happened - my hard drive was completely full.
Bad news: my old windows profile is now corrupt, and so is Windows. All that 'tweaking' I have done to get GBPVR working is now gone. :mad:
It looks like I need to reinstall Windows because now I get various errors and loss of basic functionality (i.e. control panel crashes explorer.exe, changes to application settings are not retained, etc).
Take my advice - have your recordings go to a different partition.
Question: I had a heck of a time (mostly trial and error) getting GBPVR working. Is/are there configuration file(s) that I can grab from my current system so when I reinstall Windows and GBPVR, the setup and configuration of GBPVR won't take so long? I am not necessarily concerned with my recordings, but I am fretting about setting up my EPG, capture device, and playback settings again.
Also - for the users who do have their system configured like mine was - is there a way to prevent this from happening (e.g. stop the recording service if the hard disk surpasses a threshold)?
Anyway - hopefully a noob will see this and learn from my mistake.

I am looking to build a new PC, mostly to create a PVR and blu-Ray player (blu-Ray/HD-DVD/DVDRW/CD-Rom drives are only $100 for those interested!)
I am in the midst of choosing the best option for my money when it comes to TV tuner cards.
My setup is going to be for basic Cox Cable in Omaha, so I will need an analog tuner for the basic cable and a QAM for the unencrypted HD that comes through the cable... Is that correct?
I want 2 tuners, each with QAM capabilities (probably choose 2 of the same tuners, Duh)
Originally I had selected using 2 Hauppauge HVR-1250s ($49x2), but I read on here that you need hardware encoding for GB-PVR to work with analog cable... Is this correct?
I had also looked at the new HVR-2250 ($109)... which has 2 hybrid tuners on the card, but I thought I read that it can only support one QAM channel and the other would have to be analog in my case... Does anyone know if that sounds correct?
I also looked at the ASUS - My Cinema-ES3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/RC ($49x2)... I thought I had seen hardware encoding on this card, but now I can't find that anywhere so maybe that was a different card... Does anyone know if this has hardware encoding? What about the quality of the card?
Last I looked at the AVerMedia AVERTV Bravo Hybrid PCI-E (H788) ($56x2)... Same questions with this one, Encoding? Quality?
Though the reviews were mixed for all of these tuners it seems most had problems with recieving a signal (ATSC.) I will not be using ATSC only NTSC and QAM so I should be able to have better luck with the lower end tuner (i think/hope.)

I am new to using the Popcorn and am trying to acclimate myself. I have a question regarding rewind and what to expect. I tried searching and found some postings that state that when watching live tv or transport stream files rewind is not supported. I have not seen any reference to completed recordings that are mpg files. When I try and rewind any of the above files I just get a not supported symbol on the top left of the screen. I can successfully rewind mkv and iso\DVD files. Just wanted to know if this was the expected behavior or if it warrants more investigation on my part? These results are using the version installed by the download in the dummies guide.
Hi everyone, first post and pretty new to GBPVR. I have searched and haven't found anyone else having problems with the renamer, so I hope this isn't a stupid question!! I have also reread the wiki instructions several times and haven't found any answers there either.
I am using UltraXMLTV Enhancer with no issues creating the new xmltv.xml file. Now having trouble getting the Renamer working. Before adding the renamer line to my PostProcessing.bat file I have been trying to get a manual rename working by running UltraXMLTV_Renamer.exe from windows.
When I input a recently recorded show in the Input Filename, ie
Z:\Video\Recorded TV\American Idol\American Idol_20090310_20002200.avi
I click "Do it", then an error box "error writing to Recording_schedule, in database can catch and stop error"
And this in the log:

3/11/2009 12:12:26 PM : Renamed: American Idol_20090310_20002200.avi to -.avi
And the file is renamed as -.avi
So can anyone point me in the right direction here? I'm assuming that UltraXMLTV_Renamer isn't finding gbpvr.db3, or doesn't know where to look. I have looked through all the ini files but can't find a pointer / file path.
FYI here's what I'm running:
database location = C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR
Ultra location = C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\EPG\UltraXMLTV_Enhancer
Conversion - done via the selection in Config now, so the file name *should* be updating in the database OK, but I haven't yet looked for a good utility for database lookup
I find the Conflict resolution a bit confusing. (Maybe I'm the only one because I started with TiVos?) To see what is conflicting with a program you have to drill deeper one level, but after drilling deeper, you can't cancel the higher level program, only the program causing the conflict at the deeper level. It's not critical (I'm used to this behavior now) , but if you want the conflict to disappear from the list, and you don't want to cancel at the deeper level, you have to back out to the higher level and cancel. It would make sense to me that there should be a point on a single screen where you can see both programs (the one that will be recorded and the one that won't) and cancel either one to resolve the conflict.
Again, this is just a tweak, not really a problem.
TiVo has a feature that I miss in GBPVR. On the TiVo, when you select the "Season Pass" (same as "Recurring" in GBPVR) it lists all the programs in the database that meet the criteria to be recorded for that listing. It also lists those that would have been recorded, but won't be recorded due to a conflict (and the conflicting program).
It would be great to have this, or something similar, in GBPVR. I often want to see whether an old recurring recording is actually going to record anything. I know I can look at Pending, but sometimes it's hard to find the program in the long Pending list, or I'm not sure if it's a Recurring program or an individually scheduled program or a different recurring schedule that is causing a listing to appear in Pending.

I was thinking about putting a book together of all the manuals for the games I've set up... but that would be a lot of printing.
I was wondering...
Would it be possible to add a 'Manuals' path for each emulator... and then have GameZone look in there for PDF files that match the game rom?
Example... Tetris.gb ( Gameboy rom ) and in manuals Tetris.pdf
Then... in the Gamezone menu, in the Gameboy section you would have your list of Games... and to the right of them, the option for Manual.
So, You'ld see
Tetris ( Manual )
Metroid II ( Manual )
And then Gamezone, when the Manual is selected, launches the PDF? (Windows should be able to handle it if the extension is tied to a PDF reader. )
And Manual would only show up if there was a PDF file that resembled the ROM file?
