Live TV (QAM): This mostly works but I get just a little bit of lag on occasion. This is esp. noticeable with side to side motion (tickers are quite jerky). Also, audio gets out of sync with video but changing channels or closing/opening GB-PVR seems to help with this. CPU usage is low, ~15% is typical while watching live TV.
Recordings: Playback is where the major problems are. Recordings are not watchable due to the lag/jerky playback and audio sync problems. I recorded a long program last weekend and by the time I got to end of it, the audio was ~9 seconds ahead of the video.
I really, really want to get GB-PVR working. I love this app and with the above mentioned issues fixed, it would be perfect!
I've searched the forums and although many others have had these issues, I haven't found a solution. Logs are attached and hardware is in my sig.
Since installing v1.3.11 I am unable to left click to make the recordings list active. If the recordings list is active then I can left click on the Menu to go to the menu but to go back to the recordings list I have to use the right cursor key. Anyone else having this problem or is it peculiar to me?
This will be the last release before it goes fully public and is moved to the Skin area of the wiki. All comments, bug reports and suggestions welcome.
note: it's probably best to un-install any previous CS4 BETA version before installing this one.
edit: Thanks for all the feedback people. Please note that if I've reproduced the reported issue I'll add it to the CS tasks page to look at later. To keep the thread cleaner I'll only respond if I/we need more info or have a question.
Ok I give up, I can't get a tv listing or live TV. on GPVR
I have a new computer running windows vista,
I have a hauppage WinTV HVR-1250 (model 79xxx, hybrid atsc/qam)
I registered at schedules direct & set up a lineup.
When I run the config file & try and update the EPG I get a problem, the channels get listed in the config window, but None are marked enabled. when I try to close the config file it locks up.
I tried mapping the map digital channels to epg and that seemed to work, all channels are listed as favs.
This is a pretty simple question. If I restart the computer while a conversion is taking place, will GB-PVR continue the conversion after the computer starts up again?
I want to be able to select a bunch of video clips and have them play back in the same order I picked them in. I can skip to the next item in the queue if I wanted to with my remote.
Is there something that does that at the moment?
Basically I want it to be like a Karaoke system - any Asian would be familiar with what I'm talking about. Later on I could install a secondary monitor for picking videos while the playlist is playing in the big monitor.
I have a wired client PC that is fairly low powered 800mhz with a resonable video card.
I currently have it setup streaming, and it plays videos pretty well. My problem is commercial skipping. It's almost like there is a timeline problem, but it only exists on the client. When I play the recording on the server, the commercials skip perfectly, but on the client it gets off timeline and does not match up with the commercials. This is not only visible from watching the video, but the OSD seems to be off as well (ie. it does not match the 'real' commercials either). The audio remains in-sync.
I've just noticed that ctlr G and F1 are bringing up the same mini guide during live tv.
On previous versions F1 would be a cut down full guide, and ctlr g was the mini guide.
Is this deliberate?
OK, I got the pc client up and running and things seemed to be working fine.
Last night as a test I scheduled a recording at 11pm. I had a show going on LiveTV. I have three analog tuners so this shouldn't be a problem. It showed up as pending in the recordings list.
I turned off the tv and went to bed. This morning I found the recording had failed. I looked through the logs and couldn't find any errors, actually no events in that time frame at all.
I cleared the logs out and rebooted both the server and the client today since last night I had been playing with the client a lot (updating windows, updating the video driver, etc.) and have been playing.
There seems to be some odd stuff going on.
First the GBPVR icon in the lower right corner is sometimes black and when I click on show status it lists 8 empty tuners. Other times it's green, whether I'm recording a program or not, and clicking on show status does correctly report what the tuners are doing.
I haven't been able to get a recording to fail today, but I'm getting some odd things in the displays.
If I'm not watching LiveTV on the server and select three programs from the tvguide for quick record they do all record and they all show up in the pending que as recording. If I do the same from the client with no LiveTV being viewed on the server it does the same, i.e. it works fine.
However if I'm watching a LiveTV program on the server and have two programs recording (started from either the server or client) and then start a recording from the client things get a bit weird. It will kick the server out of LiveTV and exit back to the main menu. In the pending recordings tab it shows the program the client wanted recorded but shows it as pending rather than recording. It does record the program though. Also if while this is going on you try to enter LiveTv on the server it pops up the no tuners are available message and gives you the option to watch one that's recording or exit. However it only gives you the option to watch the two programs that are listed in the pending que as recording, the third program that was started while the server was watching LiveTv and is not being reported as recording in the pending que does not show up as an option to view.
Not really a big deal, but might it not cause a problem if someone tried to record too many programs at once and caused a recording conflict?
I still haven't figured out why the recording last night failed as it had two tuners available, but it may have been due to the updates that were done to the client and maybe the reboot fixed it. I'll keep playing.
