really old computer for standard def client?
Posted by: rmorein - 2009-02-28, 05:07 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Does anyone have experience with using a really old computer as a standard-def-only client?

The candidate is a 1.4 gHz P4 machine with 2 GB of RAM and W2K. It's already in the family room as the "piano machine."

  CS4 Beta on MVP
Posted by: pz1 - 2009-02-28, 10:54 AM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (10)

Just downloaded the beta. Installation went well. I tested via VNC console and MVP simultaneously.
Observed on MVP:
- In the main menu the GBPVR logo's are missing
- MVP restarts after selecting Musiclibrary 2 (8.05 backend)
- Net radio, but also other applications with 'button like' lists display had heavy flicker

Observed on VNC console:
- On selecting ML2 PVRX2 stops with an unhandled exception "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
Logs attached

  [DEV] Tracking bugs, suggestions

What are your thoughts on managing bug tracking and suggestions/new feature requests etc? Was thinking of using the CS Tasks wiki page with suitable headings.

Thoughts?

TS playback problems inside GBPVR- Logs attached
Posted by: zaldwaik - 2009-02-28, 07:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

In my quest to make my client setup work, I have spent the last few hours doing more testing. I have concluded that the best setup for me is to use Streaming option with TS mux for HD streaming and server playback. I ran into a couple of issues that do not seem related to my setup and need help with.

This is all happening on the client

1. When I record ts files and try to play them through video library, I only get sound but no video. They playback fine in WMP and VLC.

2. When I try to do LiveTV on a digital HD channel, I get a blank screen and then it goes back to the previous menu. This happens too if I try to playback a recording in progress. In both cases I can playback the growing file (recording or timeshifted) outside with WMP or VLC flawlessly.

I have tried just about every combination of renders and decoders and rule them out as the issue.

None of this happens with the Analog mpg files, they work fine.

I have attached the logs for both issues.

Thanks for your help

How do i rename a recording to avi extension?
Posted by: pvruser - 2009-02-28, 06:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I know this appears easy but i've looked at the addepisode and WizRenameRecording and they do not appear to have an option for changing the extension. my goal is to compress the mpeg files to avi and change their extension accordingly in Postprocessing.bat.

Help is appreciated!

  VRM9 Renderer errors
Posted by: Halifax99 - 2009-02-28, 04:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am intermittently getting the following message when I restart my computer "sorry this system does not support the required VRM9 renderer". When this happens I am not able to access GBPVR and the screen doesn't display correctly. In addition the computer usually hangs during the first reboot and needs to be reset again which usually solves the problem.

Rebooting the computer a few times or reinstalling the video driver seems to correct the problem until it occurs again.

I am using a Gigabyte Motherboard with NVIDIA on board graphics. I have been through the various posts on the forum regarding NVIDIA graphics chips and VRM9 and thought I had a solution but can't get rid of this problem.

Does any one have any suggestions as to where I should start? Do I need to get a new graphics card? and if so any suggestions?

Thanks

Halifax99
