A newbie to Ztools and I would like to know if any of your tools can help me transcode TS files to mpeg. I do not have a mediaMVP but am just hoping to convert within PVRX2 automatically. The auto convert within PVRX2 does not seem to work, but maybe Sub is going to fix this in the next release?

channel 4 and a bunch of it's siter channels has stopped working - I'm getting an encrypted channel popup.
Tried rescanning for channels but ptoblem persists.

As the title suggests, I need help setting up my new tuner. I have used GBPVR in the past, but with different hardware, and I wasn't trying to tune digital channels. I have a tv with an ATSC tuner, and we recieve a basic cable package from Comcast. On the TV I can tune the standard analog channels as well as ~7 HD channels.
With GBPVR I've setup the xmltv list, and int he capture source setup, updating the EPG populates the channel list. So, I did something correctly. Analog cable seems to work, though I'll need to add another splitter to get both analog and digital simultaneously. When I try and add a digital recorder source, and map the digital channels to the EPG, neither device option(it lets me choose an ATSC or QAM HVR-1800MCE) finds any channels. Searching ATSC it shows it finds 0/68 and QAM shows 0/138. When I auto-tune the card with WinTV, it finds QAM channels, but no ATSC channels.
Does comcast broadcast QAM with basic cable? Or is my TV using the cable line as an antenna? Is that even possible? I also read Windows Vista might be a better platform for the software?
Lots of questions, I know. If anyone has any specifics on how to continue I'd appreciate it. I also have questions regarding hardware acceleration using a new HD4650 video card, should I ask them here, or make another thread?

I'm having a problem with keeping the credits info (Actors, Guests,etc.) in the xmltv.xml file.
I use mc2xml and grab the listings for Canada (East), Bell TV (Digital). If I look at the contents of this xmltv.xml file it includes the credits info (Actors, Guests,etc.). I then run UltraXMLTV to "enhance" the information (e.g. mark new shows, add the Season and Episode numbers, etc.). IN UltraXMLTV, I have selected to append the Credits info to the Description and to include the Actors, Guests, Director, and Writer info.
Once UltraXMLTV is complete I look at the xmltv.xml again and the credits info (Actors, Guests,etc.) are now gone.
I have attached a copy of the log containing all entries from the last run and my UltraXMLTV settings for you reference. If it would be of any benefit I can upload the pre and post xmltv.xml files.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or missing?
what is the most secure/practical way to use EWA from the internet?
I only ever use EWA, as the machine is headless in a spare room.
for starters, I believe there are 3 options:
1. VPN in to your local lan (I use this method currently, works well with cisco pix, I can stream but need a fast connection, impractical due to needing a cisco client)
2. Port Forwarding from your router, use a high port number, I presume you change the defaults 7647 and 7648? How secure is winxp in this instance? whats the likelihood of someone compromising the machine to gain access to your network? as its not ssl username and password can be read with sniffers? Assume firewall is on and password is enabled to EWA - this works for me also, have disabled port forwarding till outcome of this discussion
3. Use a webserver eg IIS virtual directory, have read the previous discussions, had access permission errors will try again later, This would be my preferred, as I could connect to my IIS webserver via ssl and connect to gbpvr from there. No snooping of username and passwords.
Now, what I want to know is if gbpvr will do what I want... I read the wiki and it seems like it, but I'm new to the whole idea of a home theater.
I have a PC and a laptop. The PC has all of my videos/music on it. It is connected via ethernet to my router. The laptop has nothing on it, bar codecs/programs. When I'm watching stuff, it sits in my living room, connected to a data projector and stereo. It's on wireless .11G from the router.
I'm not interested (currently) in recording video. What I want to know is, can I browse/sort/look at/watch/listen to all my PC media on my laptop. I know I can just share with Windows sharing, but I want a schmick interface, preferably with search/sort/browse options.
Some potential problems... Not all of the files are playable in WMP. Things like .mov, and I have avi's that for some reason sound only works in VLC.
And if gbpvr won't do this, a recommendation on an alternative would be awesome.
Hi, I really shouldn't mess with a working system - i never learn.
Anyway I wanted to add some more channels to one of the tuners. In adding them I made a mistake (in the xmltv side) so I deleted the channel from config, capture source, edit.
fiveusa.channel5.co.uk remove.
Then I redid the xmltv stuff, but no matter what I do GBPVR will not add this channel in. I am guessing it says "you removed it and don't want it back", but I do honest. Where is this kept, It refuses absolutely to add back two channels I removed. I've searched files and the database but can't find any obvious reference. So now I am hesitant in cleaning up other channels in case they disappear for ever.
PS I can manually add the channel, but it won't pick up the programs from the xmltv file.
I have installed the current version of GB_PVR. I have worked throught the issues with the help of this forum. But I cannot get live TV.
I want to watch freeview HD TV wihich is broadcast in MPEG4 (part10) in New Zeland). DBV-T
I disabled UAC when I installed. It looked like everything installed ok. All of the filters registered successfully. I set up a digital recording plugin as the capture source, selecting my Hauppauge HRV1200 card from the dropdown list. I successfully found and mapped all of our FreeView channels to the EPG.
Under the play back tab I have tried both VRM9 and EVR. I have tried the Cyberlink H.264 decoder, the CoreAVC decoder and the ArcSoft decoder.
I have left the other tabs at their default setting as I dont know what these settings do.
PVRX2 has some functionality. I can select and view the EPG, I can select and watch a video from the HD. However when I move to Live Tv I click on it and absolutely nothing happens.
I have a roof top aerial and can watch normal free to air with MMC.
Note - when I run the mux checker it reports that none can be found. However I understand that an mux is not needed to watch MPEG4 broadcasts.
Inside PVRX2 if I go to the settigs/playback tab I can only scroll through the MPEG2 decoders. None of the H.264 decoders are listed.
Any suggestions where to look now would be gratefully appreciated.
I just got my first TV Tuner card and am trying to setup GB-PVR to work with it. The WinTV software that comes with the HVR-2250 works and displays picture and sound but it leaves alot to be desired. I'm trying to set this software up but not having much luck. I setup the EPG via MC2XML, then went in to configure my Capture Source. Everything appears to be setup there and I mapped the digital channels to those in the EPG. The picture and audio work fine when in the channel scanner, but when I start GB-PVR and go to watch Live TV, the application just locks up and does nothing. If I try to kill the process via Task Manager it doesn't do anything. I have to restart the PC to get rid of the stuck process. What am I doing wrong?
