I tried the latest build ( v5.2.7.2204106) under Debian Bullseye.
It improved the overall reception of the EPG. Before I had to run the EPG scanner several times with extended scan time to somewhat randomly complete all EPG entries for all TV stations. Now, I only need to run the EPG once with the default 60 sec scan.
That a great improvement!!
One issue is still remaining. The description of the show is still truncated sometimes.
Schedules Direct will be migrating our backend service from PHP to
Python starting on 2022-05-20.
What should you expect?
The Python provided API has been created to be protocol compatible, so
it's likely that you won't need to do anything if your grabber has
implemented the published API.
The new service is provided by AWS API Gateway, so the issues you may
have experienced if you were updating your schedule at your local
midnight time should now be addressed.
The methods used to generate data on our backend servers have been
updated, and there are a number of fields in the new JSON which will
cause the MD5 values to change, so your application will refresh its
local data. This is known as a cache invalidation - expect that there
will be a large amount of data downloaded.
What changes will you see?
The schedules on the backend will be refreshed more often; we have
migrated to a new data delivery mechanism from our upstream provider.
You should see 14 to 18 days of schedule data.
Images will be updated more often.
Lineup updates will be updated more often.
Schedules Direct will send lineup deletion notifications to your
registered email address 30 days before a lineup is deleted, in order
to give you time to migrate. Lineups are deleted by upstream providers
if they're consolidating headends, or ending an offering - this
typically occurs if a provider is migrating from analog (usually, the
-DEFAULT lineup) to digital-only (-X)
What should you do if you have issues after the migration?
Check to see if you're running the latest version of your application
/ grabber. Developers were provided early access to the new API, and a
number of issues were resolved.
Check the support forum for your application and engage the developer;
they'll be the ones that can help you troubleshoot the application and
the migration.
If you're still stuck, your developer will tell you to open a ticket
with Schedules Direct. Please open a lineup support ticket on the
SchedulesDirect webpage https://www.schedulesdirect.org/lineupsupport
and indicate that you're having an issue, and that the developer of
your application has directed you to open a ticket.
I have just retired my Intel NUC and done a fresh install of NPVR 5.2.7 on a MeLe Quieter3 with Win 11 Pro. A couple of issues have cropped up and I would appreciate any guidance as to how to sort them out.
I am using the NPVR Win client and when I access the Settings screen on my TV in native 3840x2160 it is all scrunched up. If I switch the display mode to 1920x1080 it displays correctly. See screenshots here : https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai9q_te1HnG0hMpb0SV-...w?e=GPZbnA
Is this an NPVR or a PC issue?
When watching recordings or live TV with the EVR renderer specified, parts of the screen seem to lag behind and come detached then catch up (poor description I suspect but I hope you can see what I mean). If I switch to VMR9 it all seems a lot smoother but I never had issues using EVR on the NUC. Again, is this an NPVR or a PC issue?
I suspect I know the answers but would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.
I've been looking into automatically skipping intros since I know this is a feature that Plex users like. Some of you have probably used the feature on Netflix where you get to intro and there is a skip button. I researched this and there are a few ways to do it but I found is using an open source netcore 6 library on github called soundfingerprinting it is actually not as hard to implement as I originally thought.
To be fair I have only tested this with this two shows, "Star Trek: Picard" which is an annoying at almost 2 minutes and "The Big Bang Theory" which is probably too short to reach for the remote at 20 seconds but all tests have been spot one.
The issues I see would be
- creating the mp3 for the intro. I got "The Big Bang Theory" from here https://www.televisiontunes.com/ and it was pretty easy manually creating one is a little bit harder. It would need to be a wav for the database but the mp3 is easier to distribute.
- distributing the mp3s
- matching the program title (especially with OTA data)
- It won't need comskip but I will need to be able merging the skip into the comskip edl file. Note for Kodi I'd have have option to have it a manual or automatic skip.
Is this something any of you are interested in? If so I'll post some more instructions on how I'd like some sample files to test this.
Hey all, I actually just setup NextPVR on my Linux Mint (Ubuntu) server in the last 2 weeks. I have IPTV M3U as the source and am trying to add 60min Post Padding to Baseball team games. It seems to stop right at the actual EPG ending and not adding the 60 minutes. I'm uploading the log which shows at 21:00 some constant unexpected error.
2022-05-17 21:00:02.026 [DEBUG][135] HTTP input source starting
2022-05-17 21:00:02.282 [DEBUG][135] Unexpected error in HTTP input source: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at NShared.Shim.InputSourceHTTP.WorkerThread()
then eventually says this
2022-05-17 21:09:20.524 [DEBUG][135] Too many retries...giving up
Since that's the time when the post padding should start, I'm assuming that is related. Any help would be appreciated. I'm a bit new to NextPVR on Linux but I did try NPVR on Windows many moons ago. If other logs are needed, I'm all ears.
I recently changed my default padding settings to -1 for pre-padding and +1 for post padding. I want the recordings to start 1 minute after the epg start time and continue to 1 minute after the epg end time.
I've found a few issues with scheduling recurring recordings using these settings.
Scenario 1 - EGP lists the following shows on the same day & channel:
4 PM Local News
5 PM Local News
If I schedule the 4PM to record "daily in this timeslot", it will schedule both the 4PM and 5PM shows in the pending recordings (while recurring shows only the 4 PM show). If I go into pending recordings, I can delete the 5 PM versions but they will reappear after the next EPG update.
Scenario 2
9 PM The National
10 PM The National
11 PM The National
If scehdule the 10 PM to record daily in this timeslot, it will scehdule all 3 shows in the Pending recordings (while recurring will show only the 10 PM show).
Scenario 3
2 AM View From Above
2:30 AM Business News
3 AM View From Above
3:30 AM Business News
4 AM Veiw From Above
If I schedule the 3 AM show to record daily in this timelslot the 2 AM and 4 AM shows will also schedule in Pending recordings (while recurring shows only the 3 AM show).
The show correctly record 1 minute after the start time to 1 minute after the end time. If I go into pending and remove all the unwanted duplicate showings, they will all reappear after the next EPG update.
If I use a positive pre-padding value or zero, I don't have any of these issues, it only seems to be when I set pre-padding to -1.
I have 2 providers with some groups with the same name.
when I add one group in and can see the channels in that group in the guide.
then I add the second group and the group in tvGuide shows only the channels in the 2nd group.
all of the channels in both groups show up in a search for a program on channel(s) in both groups.
So I figure if I could rename the first group before bringing in the groups for another provider would sollve the problem.
So my question(s) is(are)
1) how can I rename a group?
2) what else that I haven't thought of can I do?
4 Essential Items People Often Overlook on Moving Day
Moving into a new place can be exciting, yet stressful at the same time. There are too many things to do, like changing your mailing address, having the landlord turn on water and electricity, getting TV and internet service installed, and buying new furniture. People can often remember or make to-do lists for all the big items, but sometimes we forget those little essentials that are just as important. Below are four small, yet necessary, items you should put on your list to make your move into the new place more pleasant.
You don’t need to bring your best of the best tool box with more than a hundred different items. Just a basic home tool set will do, such as the CARTMAN 39-piece tool set which receives top reviews on Amazon prime. This tool set contains all the necessary tools to do all the small repairs around the house, from assembling do-it-yourself furniture, hanging picture frames, or tighten a loose drawer.
Cleaning Supplies
Before moving your belongings into a new place, you want to make sure that the place is reasonably clean of dust and dirt. You want to start with a fresh canvas! Broom and dustpan, mop, bucket, and cleaning solutions will come in handy when you want to give the new place a thorough cleaning. Another item to bring with you is garbage bags for dumping left over items from previous owners, broken items, or anything else you have no desire to use in your new home. At the end, you will be able to clearly see how much space you have to work with and start your organization.
A flashlight or a headlamp is necessary to bring with you on moving day especially if your new place has a basement or garage. This light is also helpful when you need to check a dark deep closet, or underneath furniture or up in the attic. In addition, you should consider bringing extension cords and multi plugs to set up your electronic devices.
Distance Measuring Device
A distance measuring device allows you to measure the interior of the place when you arrange the furniture. Instead of the traditional measurement tape which might be cumbersome to use and take some effort to be accurate, you can try the BOSCH Compact Blaze Laser Distance Measure or any advanced distance measure tool. This device provides real time measuring, enables you to size up a room in a matter of seconds with one-button operation. You will no longer have to wonder whether your sofa will fit perfectly in your living room or not.
We have all been there when we needed something at the last minute, and realized that we totally forgot it. It heightens the stress and anxiety of the move, and you might not be able to fully enjoy the new home. A little bit more pep work can go a long way toward a smooth and pleasant transition. Any items mentioned above can be found on Amazon websites, where you can read top reviews and find the best of products for your new home!

Hello,
I have problems getting Live TV running.
My setup is the following:
Raspi 4 with openHABian and openHAB 3 running on it.
Technisat SkyStar USB HD tuner.
NextPVR Version: 5.2.7.220410
NextPVR is running, the tuner is detected, video folders are available with owner nextpvr and set correctly.
Channel scanning works and adapter0-DVB-S-channels.conf is created.
Code:
openhabian@openHABianDevice:/var/opt/nextpvr $ ls -al
total 944
drwxr-xr-x 7 nextpvr root 4096 May 16 12:42 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 May 16 12:17 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 nextpvr nextpvr 350659 May 16 12:36 adapter0-DVB-S-channels.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 nextpvr nextpvr 19658 May 16 12:19 config.xml
-rw-r--r-- 1 nextpvr nextpvr 19666 May 16 12:19 config.xml.old
drwxr-xr-x 2 nextpvr nextpvr 4096 May 16 12:43 logs
drwxr-xr-x 4 nextpvr nextpvr 4096 May 16 12:17 media
-rw-r--r-- 1 nextpvr nextpvr 540672 May 16 12:42 npvr.db3
drwxr-xr-x 2 nextpvr nextpvr 4096 May 16 12:17 scripts
drwxr-xr-x 2 nextpvr nextpvr 4096 May 16 12:17 thumbs
drwxr-xr-x 3 nextpvr nextpvr 4096 May 16 12:17 web
When I then try to start live TV the following errors are shown: Streaming Failed (transcoder exited) or Failed to start requested stream
The log files show the following entry: [ERROR] Failed to get tuning params for (3sat) from /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter0-DVB-S-channels.conf
I reinstalled NextPVR two times now, but always the same result.
Does someone have any suggestions for me how to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.
M4c
BTW:
I created a reduced tuning list (MyList). While scanning, the transponders from my tuning list are scanned, but afterwards all other transponders for Astra 19.2E are scanned as well. This is not my major problem, but I do not understand why scanning doesn't stop after my reduced tuning list transponders are scanned.
