Hi. Can anyone clarify how I can keep post-processed files in the recorded DB. I record a TV program and postprocessing.sh is called to remove commercials. This creates a new reduced file size with the extension changed from .ts to .mkv. The comskip is running in a separate docker container (on synology NAS) compared to the npvr v5 docker container, and as part of the process, deletes the original .ts file.
At this stage, npvr has lost the recording from the DB and I can no longer see any recorded tv programs. If I create a symlink from the new .mkv file to the older .ts file, will that restore the recordings DB.
I did try modifying the XML that was created, by changing the filename, and amended the path to the new .mkv file within the XML, but that did not work. What is the XML file used for anyway?
If anyone knows how to post-process recording into a .mkv file and keep the database synced, then could you please let me know.
Okay, so, recently (just today, in fact) I finally made the leap from 4.2.4 to 5.2.7, and the first thing I'm wondering is:
How do I make the Windows Client go back to viewing three hours at once in the TV Guide instead of just two?
Is it some configuration setting that needs to be changed in config.xml or clientstore-local.xml or some other file in the C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data folder?
Or do I have edit one or more the Skin's files in the C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin folder?
Or do I have to do something else entirely to one or more other files in a folder I haven't discovered yet?
I have a Hauppauge WinTV-QuadHD-ATSC tuner card installed. I am recording a show on one ATSC channel, and when I try to tune a 2nd channel I receive an error "Unexpected error on LocalRecorder.StartStream(): System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." Attached are my logs. Is there a setting in config.xml that I am missing to get my 4 tuners to work? thanks.
Hello all, Im thinking about shutting down my PC running NextPVR so I can sell my server rack considering that's all I use it for is NextPVR.
Im thinking about going two options,
1 Raspberry PI4
2 Synology DS220+
I dont use commskip Just recording with the following items,
2 Duo HomeRun Network TV Tuners that record over the air.
1 IPTV stream.
SO in theory I should be able to watch 2 rooms of TV well recording. I do at times use up to 4 TV tuners during peak TV Time but
most of the time its only recording 2 channels at a time. I also want to be able to watch the TV shows well recording in the living room
and in the bedroom.
Maybe I still need to keep my PC but asking suggestions before I even start the process.
I'm trying to transition my NextPVR setup from my power-hungry Windows box to a docker instance in Unraid, and I'm learning as I go. I apologize in advance, because I'm a little outside of my depth here.
Setup went fine, thanks to those who have provided guidance in these forums. It can access the HDHomeRun on the network, has gathered guide data, and records to the correct directory. Honestly, it's working quite nicely. Except one problem.
The recording directory is shared to a non-root user account, which has r/w permissions to the share in Unraid. Let's call the account "bandit". When I access that share via Windows as bandit, I can view the file list and watch the recordings. But when I try to delete or edit a recording, a pop-up tells me, "You require permission from SERVER/root to make changes to this file". I can delete the same files from within the NextPVR WebUI.
I think I've found the cause of this problem. Inside the shared directory, I've created folders for sorting recordings (TV, Movies, Sports). Those are all 777 permissions, as seen here:

I'm not sure this is the source of the problem, but seems like it. I'd like to be able to access those files/directories as r/w using bandit, as well as any future account I give r/w share access to, including possibly just making the whole directory public r/w. If possible, I'd prefer to not manually chmod it after the recording completes.
In Windows on NTFS this was never a problem. Honestly, I don't know if this is related to NextPVR, docker, or Unraid, so I started here. Is this typical behavior? And is there a way to always have directories and files written as 777 when NextPVR records?
I'm just getting started with NextPVR having moved from a Windows server to a Linux server.
I'm running NextPVR in a Docker container on Ubuntu Server 22.04 with a dual TBS DVB-S2 card.
All is working well and I'm configuring NextPVR to work with my Emby Server.
My problem is, having made a Paypal Donation I can't get the donation/activation registered in the NextPVR settings.
I choose the option for : Have You Donated?>Enter Paypal Transaction> Register Donation but the registration doesn't show. I've checked I'm entering the correct PayPal transaction code but for some reason it doesn't show the status as 'activated'. With activation I'm unable to complete setup with Emby.
I suspect I'm missing something obvious. Would welcome advice on how to fix this. Many thanks.
I have opened TV guide and gone to the program. Click on the red highlighted program and click disable. Still programs the next day/week/etc. Gone to scheduler and 'canceled' the programs they disappear but come back the next day/week/etc.
Hey, is it possible to change transcoding default folder from 'c:\users\public\npvr-data\web\temp' to RAMDisk? I was able to set live TV buffer to RAMDisk in webclient settings and I want to set transcoding temp files to go there as well.
When I navigate to http://:x.x.x.x:8866/uiclient.html, the interface works fine: TVGuide works, recordings are there, searching works, video works, but when I select a show via TVGuide or go to LiveTv, I have video, but no audio.
If I navigate to a recording, I get both video and audio.
Logged out and logged back in, but this behaviour is consistent.
Log files attached. If there is a sticky identifying how to prepare the log files different than what I have provided, please direct me (ie. I notice there are some files in there from earlier this month. I am supposed to clean these up before I attach?)
