  EPG problems
Posted by: cookrd1 - 2022-05-09, 08:49 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

All of a sudden, the EPG will not load in the windows version of NextPVR.  No problem getting EPG on other devices/programs. just NextPVR.  I deleted NextPVR and reinstalled, same problem.  Attached are log files.  Any help greatly appreciated.

  Recurring Recordings minor UI issue
Posted by: artmetz - 2022-05-08, 10:24 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

I have quite a few recurring recordings. When I remove one from the bottom of the list, I'm automatically taken back to the top of the list and have to scroll down again to remove another one.
It would be nice to stay in the same general area of the list after removal of a recording.
(I'm using the classic view if that matters)

  Scheduled Recordings Occasionally Fail
Posted by: stuberwg - 2022-05-08, 03:47 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

I have a problem where a few of my NPVR scheduled recordings fail with a “[Failed: Channel not found. Deleted?]” message.  When I see the message the next day, I can always successfully watch the channel that NPVR says may be deleted.  A screenshot is attached.  I need help figuring out how to debug this.  My setup:

  • Windows 11 with all current patches, and set to never go to sleep.
  • Two HDHomeRun PRIME devices (HDHR3-CC) giving me a total of six available tuners.  The tuner’s software and firmware are current.  HDHomeRun device IDs 1323E608 and 1323DBEC.  I’m also including the log from the PRIME devices for May 6-8.  I've also verified that occasional-problem channels are on both of my PRIME devices
  • NextPVR Version: 5.2.7.220410

If NextPVR has a problem with a channel, will it try again with the next tuner listed on the SetupBig Grinevices page?

I don’t know if this is a software, hardware, or CableCard/cable TV issue. Please help me debug this.

Wayne

  Automatically update channels
Posted by: Tunes0710 - 2022-05-07, 09:57 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I have a certain group on my IPTV where the first part of the channel name stays the same, but the second half of it changes daily.
Where I had this running through xTeve, when the playlist updated each day they would lose the channel numbers assigned to them (as the channel name is different each day).
I put it as a request, and the a dev who had forked it made some changes so that I could use regex to keep the channel numbers the same when it updates and the channel name changes, which is awesome.

I know that for probably 99% of people there would be no need to regularly do a channel update, but I wondered if there is any chance of maybe having a setting where you can pick a device to regularly (i.e. daily) carry out a manual update of the channel list. I realise normally you would select/unselect channels to import, but as my channels are pre-filtered through xTeve, if you could have an option to update "all" channels (for that device)?

Just a thought... Smile

Change data quality to a lower
Posted by: tvviewer - 2022-05-07, 06:24 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (17)

Hi

Nextpvr is awesome, many thanks must go to the developers. I use Nextpvr with Kodi as frontend on a VPN. The network is 4G that has limited data usage account. The tv part works great. When i watch cable tv on the client with Kodi, i assume that the data bitrate is the default and highest of the cable tv capability. When watching for hours, lots of data is comsumed on the 4G data usage account.
I would like to know how to limit the bitrate / size of data that travels from the nextpvr server to the client. I know there is a config.xml and that has lots of numbers. What should be changed to accomplish the goal?

EDIT: It could be the streaming-bitrate that is needed to be changed. The recordings stored on the disk should still be full quality.

thx

  Suddenly stopped playing back recordings
Posted by: slb - 2022-05-07, 01:52 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

NextPVR has been working great until recently. Installed on Win 10 in March. Nothing has changed as far as I know. Suddenly new recordings will not play back. Click on play and just returns to recordings main screen. Saved programs previously recorded and played before the problem started will still play again. I've even tried to manually open the file on a right click in the client but that doesn't work either.

It's installed on two separate computers and both exhibit the same problems. Leads me to believe some Win 10 update screwed things up.

It also locks up if I try to select live TV.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times and that didn't help.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thank for any help.

  Ignoring Post-Padding Setting
Posted by: jguarrasi - 2022-05-06, 02:16 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

For the longest time I have been using 2 minutes for my post-padding.  Just last week I changed it to 1 minute, but noticed that all my recordings still have 2 minutes of extra time at the end.  Do I need to do something else to force this new post-padding setting?

  Evaluation of the UIDroid
Posted by: GRob - 2022-05-05, 11:00 PM - Forum: Android - Replies (1)

Thought it was time for someone to make a positive evaluation if this app.  We have been using this app for the last 4 months (once I had the courage to cut the ties with NextPVR V4 and the NMT’s), with little or no issues.  I am running the UI on 3 different brands of “smart” TVs and a Smartvu 4k SV11 dongle on an old 32” Samsung TV.  One or other of the system will be in use for a large part of the day/evening.  I now prefer to watch through the UI than the PC client as I did for years.  Also switching servers is much easier then with the NMT.

There have been some issues with connection to the TVs on waking NextPVR but these appear to have been sorted by replacing the 2 old PVR’s with new Win 11 machines – and turning on “wake on LAN” in the Bios.
The skip in TS files is much more responsive than in the client and response time quicker than the NMT’s.
Having used MVP’s then NMT’s since they became available (10?, 15? years ago) I can say this UI is a definite step forward.

The negatives are not with the UI but the V5 client – it misses a number of features available in V4, that I had gotten used to.  This is mostly because I use the video library for all the movies and leave the recording feature for the wife’s soaps etc.  This trend started in the old GBPVR days.

Finally, I would like to thank Martin for his work on this and the earlier clients.  You have made my wife happy over the years, being able to watch her “favourites” when she wants to, while I’m working away from home!

  Why so much CPU usage?
Posted by: markosjal - 2022-05-05, 10:35 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (14)

I am running NexPVR on Pi3 .
I am using Kodi clients.
TV source is older first generation HD Homerun Dual (Mpeg2) .

I see "dotnet" using over ~65% CPU usage when streaming a single stream. I really did not believe there was that much involved for the Pi to do this but I can see I am wrong. It makes me wonder if it is transcoding or something.

I just did similar tests with TV Headend and even viewing while recording , using BOTH channels of the HD Homerun I was far lower than 65% CPU usage.

How do I ensure that transcoding is not happening?

in transcoding I have:

Preferred streaming Profile = Default

Video Encoder- VAAPI

Recording auto transcode = Leave recordings in native format.

At this CPU usage, I can not use both channels of HD homerun and have CPU for other tasks. It is way more than TV Headend.
