I've attached a mod I've made to the slick skin which makes it more suited for light backgrounds.
Maybe this could be integrated with a future release.
To install, first backup your 'Slick' folder to another name, say 'Slick_old'. Then just unzip the attachment into your current Skin2 directory. If you don't like it, delete 'Slick' and rename 'Slick_old' to 'Slick'.
Darkens the Music Library, Video Library and Photo Library and improves the contrast on the Recordings and System directories.
I am looking to rebuild my PC to replace the existing IDE HDD with the Adaptec SATA Raid 0 setup to increase HDD speed.
My intention is to install windows and GBPVR from scratch and then top copy the original GBPVR directory back over the top, is this a viable option, or is there a better way?
I have noticed when i update to the latest software i now have a problem with my recordings .The timing of the recording schedule is out by about 10 minutes. Always miss out on the last ten minutes of any tv Shows i record.
Any ideas ??

I found out tonight my computer is just shy of enough oomph to be recording and comskipping three simultaneous OTA ATSC shows and also stream to the PCH. Videoredo may have also been running.
I tried to play something and it was hanging bad w/o audio. I knew something was up because this is the first problem playing anything with the PCH. The computer took a while to come off the screensaver and every command was taking way too long. The box was bogged down bigtime.
I put the Celeron in this computer initially because it was cheap and the system was only going to be used for email and web surfing by the better half. I was trying to get up on the curve a little with the socket 775 platform seeing HDTV down the pike. It's here now.
Turns out my old P4 3.0E was just as fast if not a little more than the Celeron. About (I can't find the exact cpus) 30 points according to Passmark cpu charts.
I've got a E2200 and another gig of ram on the way so we'll see if that will do it. The E2200 is more than 800 points better in Passmark. I'll post back the results.
Oh, and if you were wondering, my board is a cheapo that doesn't let me do any overclocking. I wouldn't really know what to do if it did, but this would probably prompt me to learn.

Oh, the last recording ended an hour ago and there are still three instances of comskip running - ouch. Even though the cpu is maxed at least you can navigate the computer now.
Hey I am a newbie, and I have tried to read as much as I can before asking. This is my first question because I couldn't find info on it. I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 with IR Blaster, GBVR is working great and I love it so far. I have a magnavox converter box connected to an outside ota, and it works with the IR Blaster. The trouble I am having is the EPG will have channel 2 listed as only the number "2" so when the blaster runs the converter box reads 0.2 when in fact it needs 2.1. Any thoughts, can I just manually reprogram the physical numbers on all of the channels? My processor can't quite handle runing the coax straight into the atsc side, so the converter box would be my preferred set up.
Just wondering if any of the developers had the time/patience to write a TVGOS plugin.
if not, what exactly would i need to decode the TVGOS data stream? i did a dump from my CBS station in TSReader Lite and it has the TVG1 & TVG2 streams. i even dumped some data from them but it appears to be non-human readable. is it a proprietary encrypted format or can i decode it easily with some known algorithm?
and of course how can i integrate this as a plugin for GBPVR so that when i run my epg update script it switches to CBS, gets the data dump, optionally converts it to some XML format and loads it into the database?
i'm currently using a customized version of zap2xml perl script and i'd like to avoid the issues that all page scrapers have...
Does anyone have a stable HTCP that works for playback of over the air Digital Broadcasts as well as recordings of such? I am not looking for QAM tuner support or any cable/sattelite recording type HTCP's as I have found people who seem to do that well, but rather just a good ol plain DVR for OTA HD only. Before I delv into this again I need to make sure that is stable. My definition of stable is = less than 1 to 3 crashes a month, prefferably no crashing for reliable recordings. For some reason the OTA recordings seem to be the hardest thing to get right, at least in the USA
Background:
about a year ago I tried to delv into the HTPC thinking it's been around long enough it should be pretty stable by now. About 3 mos later, countless hours I didn't have and a very frusterated wife I had to give up. I settled for a dvd/hD recorder. Sure it had a clunky interface not unsimilar to scheduling recordings with a VCR but it worked right out of the box and I didn't have to have a monthly subcription to make it work such as TIVO, etc... although I did consider it. I used both Media Portal and GBPVR and favored GBPVR as it seemed to be more stable but still had quite a few crashes.
Problems I had:
I tried multiple codecs but some channels were smooth while others looked choppy, Not pixelated but rather stuttered movements as if it were a codec issue. i tried PureVideo, coreAVC and just about every codec imaginable as well as FFDshow but nothing seemed to solve the issue.
HardwareI tried:
I had a PCchips MOBO capable of core 2 duo cpu's but I just has a 3.0Ghz single core Celeron in it.
The MOBO had an AGP slot for video so I tried an Nvidia 6200 and a 7200 and an ATI 2400 pro.
I tried the Hauppauge HVR1600 and ATI 650. The ATI seemed to have the best picture.
I had 1 gig of RAM, I probably needed 2.
I had a 320 Gig Western Digital SATA drive.
Case cooling was not an issue and the cpu was always running around 40C
The reason I'm am looking at this again is I am wondering if my system was just not up to snuff. If I get some good feedback from folks who are doing OTA recordings successfully then I will try it again.
Provide ability to retireve metadata from the video file embedded in ADS.
Provide ability to store metadata in external format (ie filename.xml), or internally in video file (ADS).
Provide ability to edit either format data prior to saving.
Internal ADS format is compatible with recording format the GBPVR writes when saving recordings
Provide ability to export entries into recording.xml format. This is useful to update the GBPVR Recodings table so they show up in the Recordings Plugin
I had Windows crash on me this weekend and had to do a complete reload of everything. I'm getting GBPVR all set up again and the one thing I'm noticing is that, especially with SD mpeg2s, picture quality is really bad. The HD ones don't seem to be effected quite as much or maybe it's just not as noticabble.
I tried all kinds of different codecs thinking it was a codec problem but each one had the same issue. I'm not quite sure how to explain it. Everything has a lot of pixelation and colors look kind opaque It's particularly bad if there's a closeup on anyones face or if the lighting for a particular scene is strange for some reason.
Finally I just started pluggin files into graphstudio and trying every different combination I could. It appears to go away if I use a different renderer then VMR9. In graphstudio that's VMR7 or one that's just labeled "Video Renderer". However in the GBPVR config my only options are VMR9 or Overlay and overlay gives me some srange looking grid on the screen every time I start a file or skip back and forth. My system should be able to hangle VMR9 fine so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to fix this. I would have left some logs as well but as it is actually playing the files I'm not sure it's really going to show much. Any ideas?

I did update the catalyst control center software to try to fix this it's at version 9.1
I'm trying to use the Cyberlink PDVD7 codec with this but I've got ffdshow and some others on here too.
