Dish DVR 625 and IR Blaster
Posted by: ilowe - 2009-02-03, 04:49 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi,
I spent some time this evening to see if I could get the Haupauge PVR-150 IR Blaster control the Dish DVR 625. For a long time I could not get it to work but in the end, positioning the IR blaster about 3.5 inches to the left of the right hand side of the panel that shows the LEDS or 1.5 in to the left of the left most white line worked for me. After that, I could use the IR blaster configuration program to test IR Blaster codesets and found that codeset 0136 worked for me.
Cheers,
Ian

  PVR-250 and STB question
Posted by: richrowland - 2009-02-03, 02:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello to all!

I am attempting to build a PVR as a Christmas (2008!) gift for a friend using GB-PVR 1.3.11 and a Hauppauge PVR-250 card that came out of a PC that I took in trade. Since I didn't have a remote, I ebayed a Hauppauge PVR-250 remote, which came with an IR receiver only.

I am trying to test with an analog Dish 322 STB at my house, and will be installing to an analog Comcast STB of unknown make/model at my friend's.

The problem that I am having is in controlling the STB. I have looked on ebay for a Hauppauge PVR-150 combo IR Blaster/IR receiver cable without success. A link I found on a Beyond TV forum seems to suggest that you can control the STB using S-Video.

Do I have any other options? I have looked at USB-UIRT and will go that route if necessary, but I thought I should beseech expect opinion before I make my wife mad by spending any further money without guidance.

TIA for all replies.

Multidec recording hang vs Live TV ok
Posted by: kylebrophy - 2009-02-03, 01:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

I watching some multidec channels on my GBPVR 1.3.11

The issue is this:

When i watch one of these channels - i can watch perfectly well (i.e. not stutter or hanging of pic/audio).

When i record the same channel - it can hang every min or so.

I have tried NewsCS and now use GreyWolf for the Card Server - and AcamD 5.0.9 for the multidec addin.

I have the default settings for both - and use the default Multidec API.

Just wondering if there is something i can change in the ini files for AcamD that might prevent this hang during recording.

Also - I know both NewsCS and Greywolf support EMM updates etc... but it seems that i can only watch the encrypted channel for an hour - then it stops decrypting. If i exit GBPVR (so filter unloads) then go back in - it works again for another hour (give or take).

AcamD connects via the newcamd protocol (rather than the radegast).

  Extra EPG data
Posted by: User - 2009-02-03, 01:10 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (24)

Sub,
I know you don't like to add anything region specific but is there any chance of you ever providing a built in facility maybe a checkbox thing in config to add Schedule Direct extra fields like;
Year Released
Star Rating
First Aired Date
Repeat Flag
MPAA Rating
HDTV
Stereo

I currently use EpgExtra to get this data into the guide, but that takes a run time of more than an hour, and your guide update is waaay faster (just a few minutes). I think there are a lot of us in the states that would appreciate native import of this data. I am sure this has been discussed before but I thought I would beg again. Thanks again for a life changing product.

  Live TV won't start
Posted by: Snorkel - 2009-02-03, 12:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I'm not sure when it stopped working - it used to work. I typically don't watch live tv, only recordings. When I enter on live tv, PVRX2 freezes for several seconds on the main menu, then returns to normal menu operation, but never displays tv. Any help appreciated. Logs attached. XP sp3, .net3 sp1, recently updated to 1.3.11, but it didn't work before the update.

Thanks

BASS - Getting Audio Data for Spectrum Analysis/Display
Posted by: ralphy - 2009-02-02, 11:37 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

Is it possible to use

Code:
// get 1000 16 bit samples short buffer[1000]; BASS_ChannelGetData(achannel,buffer,2000);

in PVRX2? (The BASS dll is from http://www.un4seen.com)

If so, how do I define achannel, and what would be a complete code snippet?

Alternatively, are there other tools which can be used to do a FFT and get some spectrum details of the audio currently being played (DVD/TV/Music etc) by PVRX2?

  Damaged recordings every 10 seconds
Posted by: RaulDuke - 2009-02-02, 09:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I have been searching and searching the forum for a solution to this. It is a very difficult issue to solve, every now and then, my recordings play back with a hitch. This is only with hidef recordings, I am using a HVR-1600. I went over and over playback issues, thinking that was the problem, but it is not. I discovered that when it hitches (and it hitches about every 9-10 seconds throughout the recording on the damaged recording) it hitches in the exact same place if I rewind and watch that part again. I found another thread with a 30 second hitching problem, but mine does not seem to be the same thing. I have looked over my logs, but I am not seeing an issue. Could someone else please take a look? My recording last night at 7:30 to 8 (american dad) is the most recent file with this hitching issue.

Thanks!

Stutter on live tv and recordings vs mux & dongle
Posted by: newyankee - 2009-02-02, 08:43 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

I have a stutter problem on both my media MVPs with either live tv or recordings depending on the channel. I am running GBPVR 1.3.11 on a p4-3.2GHz (XP) with 3Gb RAM and a hauppauge NOVA S-plus. Cyberlink mux 5.1307 or 5.2022 or ATI mux. Two MVPs H3A (wired) with mvpmc dongle 30-9-2008
Live TV buffer is 2000 ms (incrementally upped from 500 with no change in result)

A list of results on the MVP follows (everything is fine on the pc):

Throughput is 11.5 Mbit/s (with mvpmc throughput test)
CPU load on live tv is below 5%

  • With mux 5.1307 I get terrible stutter live TV on BBC News (sound chopped up), other channels work but with predictable and regular stutter on fast vertical moves up to losing a few frames. Recordings work, but there's regular stutter on fast vertical moves up to losing a few frames as well.
  • With mux 5.2022 I have good results on all BBC channels, but no luck on German channels Das Erste, ZDF and most others. Sound gets out of sync after a few seconds, then occasional black screen and sound back in sync and then it all starts over. Recordings work.
  • With the ATI mux, sound is slightly out of sync all the time so that lip sync is unacceptable.
  • I tried a daily alpha dongle from 25-1-2009, but that didn't change anything except for losing automatic emulation mode.
I can't figure what's causing this. Logs are attached. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Guido

Which way to go with MVP and OTA DTV?
Posted by: gapgapman - 2009-02-02, 08:42 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Hey everyone,

I currently pay for limited cable but am making the switch to OTA DTV (digital TV). I have my converter box and a cheap antenna--and the stations come in very clear. I would like to continue using the MVP (not for live TV though), but need to know which Setup is cheapest and simplest for recording shows. I currently have the Hauppauge USB2 PVR which is recording from cable. By dropping cable, I can save the $16 bucks a month since all I get are local channels anyway--all which are free OTA. In order to record shows using the OTA stations, which option below is the best (simplest) and cheapest route:

1) Buy a new OTA TV tuner and use one of the plugins/apps to convert the HD recordings down to SD so the MVP can play them.
or
2) Buy another converter box (i have another $40 coupon) and an IR-blaster and use them in tandem with my USB2 PVR.
Or
If you have a better idea, I am open to it too.

I am leaning towards the second option, since many threads out there seem to mention the difficulty of downgrading recordings for the MVP and I can't live without ComSkip. I have a SD TV, with no plans to upgrade to HD any time soon.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  problems with DVD playback
Posted by: Guy - 2009-02-02, 08:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi Sub (or anyone who could help),

Thanks again for a great product. I have just bought a projector - so GBPVR is having a new lease of life in my set up (community skin on a 90" screen looks fantastic)....

Because of my new setup I've started wanting to play DVDs for first time in about three years of GBPVR use. I activated the DVD plugin, made sure that cyberlink powerdvd was installed (I have version 4.0), but I when I hit play, the disc spins up and screen goes black, but then GBPVR skips back to the main menu.

I'm using 1.3.7 of GBPVR with version 4.0 of powerdvd. I've tried changing config from cyberlink navigator to navigator & changing the specified codecs but to no avail.

I have attached all log files, but noticed the specific error shown below:
