PCH A110 won't change channels with GBPVR
Posted by: strobe1970 - 2009-01-26, 04:33 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (14)

Thanks for the great install program - I started with the instructions on the wiki and was having problems - all went well and was up and running in no time.

I do have an issue that I've not been able to resolve. I cannot change channels on LiveTV (using the arrow buttone on the remote)-- and the hot buttons don't work either. The screen goes blank (and stays blank) and the popcorn appears to lock up. Also when I use the setup button on the remote it brings up the 'brightness', 'contrast' etc menu options for the popcorn and doesn't return to the TvGuide. On the host PC the GB-PVR icon is still green and its status is that its recording liveTV.

I've checked the survival guide and everything seems correct . I've attached my config.xml file. Any advice greatly appreciated.

  My Audio Went Away
Posted by: hikinandbikin - 2009-01-26, 04:13 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

My GBPVR has been working well for about a year since I bought my new computer. I know that I successfully recorded with audio Yesterday (Saturday) morning. But now I have no audio on recordings or live TV. I am getting Audio in Hauppauge WINTV but I get nothing in PVRX2. All other PC sounds are working fine. I had been using AC3 Filter as Audio Decoder as well as AC3 Decoder when it was working. I think I have tried every possible combination as well as all the audio rendering options with no luck. In efforts to try to resolve this problem I upgraded to the latest version of GBPVR as well as changed from MCE2XML to MC2XML. This shouldn't effect anything but I thought it was worth mentioning. I have attached my logs as well as my config file.
I use a newish dell with an HVR-1250 MCE connected to an Antenna.
I have great OTA ATSC in the US.
I recently added an EIDE controller to use a older 200GB hard drive for recorded TV storage. I also removed an old PVR-150 that won't work with DTV. I have made several successfully recordings since so I don't think these are likely culprits.
Hopefully someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Wyatt

  Thoughts on my HTPC spec
Posted by: nofam - 2009-01-26, 03:11 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

This is all very flexible, so please feel free to tell me where I've gone wrong (and right hopefully!)

I'm planning to use this as a PVR to record FreeviewHD (using GB-PVR), as well as a media player using (probably) XBMC as the front end for a server which stores all my media in another part of the house. Everything on the LAN is gigabit.

Case: Silverstone LC03
MoBo: Asus P5QL-E
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7300
Graphics Card: Asus 9400GT silent
TV Card: Hauppauge Nova T 500HD
PSU: Corsair 450W VX

Anything glaringly wrong here?? All thoughts appreciated!!

Also, what's the major difference between a Nova T 500HD and an HVR-2200? And am I right that Vista is a better choice for an HTPC O/S than XP? (thought I read that somewhere??)

Thanks all!

Play MP4s (H.264) on Hauppauge MVP
Posted by: pwrmac7100 - 2009-01-26, 01:53 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have my Hauppauge MVP set up and working. All aspects have no problems, except for playing movies via the MovieWiz pluggin.

The MovieWiz works fine on the main machine (P4, 3GHZ, 1GB RAM). However, it doesn't playback any of the movies when I use the MVP in another room. The movies are encoded as MP4s with H.264 (using Handbrake). From what I've read, the MVP cannot handle the H.264 nor does it have the CPU power to do so.

Is there some way to have the GB-PVR server transcode the H.264 files on the fly instead of acting as a file server? I have been reading through several posts and some elude to this issue, but no concrete answers.

I know there are other applications, Tversity for one, that can act as a server and accomplish what I need, but I would like to keep everything in one package and continue using the MovieWiz plugin. I just wish there was some sort of On-The-Fly-Transcoding option in the MVP config.

Thank you in advance...Josh

Won't record, all I get is an empty folder
Posted by: Wan - 2009-01-26, 12:44 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I am using gbprvr 1.3.11. I have Hauppauge HVR-950Q and set it up for analog TV. Watching live TV works just fine, but I am unable to record at all. All I get is an empty folder. I get the error Object Reference not set. I have attached my logs.

I am able to record with Win TV.

Will not record from one channel
Posted by: pan - 2009-01-26, 12:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

OK so there's one channel Sky Classics which I can view fine but anytime I try to record it the file is always 0 bytes. Now this channel will only scan for me when I have ignore pmt crc errors always turned on in the BDA advance settings.
I posted a full ts for this in another thread.

Here are my logs

Thanks for looking

  ATSC, client PC, mpeg2, dvr-ms...
Posted by: tuckster - 2009-01-26, 12:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Here's what I'm trying to do - watch high definition ATSC recordings on a client pc over a wired network.

On the server I am able to record and playback DRV-MS files flawlessly. It's truly wonderful. Smile I later learned that these files cannot be shared server/client. Sad

I tried to change my mux to MainConcept to end up with .mpg files that could be streamed over the network. I have had mixed results, but for the most part my server keeps hanging when I set it to record. That's a separate issue that I will need to posts logs for to see if I can fix it.

On a few occasions I have been able to record with the mainconcept mux, but when I try to stream these to my client pc I get blank screen or the client freezes up.

On one occasion I tried to watch live tv on the client and it worked. I tried to change the channel and the client froze up. (I'm including this to demonstrate that video and audio decoders seem to be working fine on the client. I am not interested in live tv over the network, just watching recorded programming)

The intent of this post is not to try to troubleshoot all these issues, but to find out if I am wasting my time or if this will all potentially work. I have yet to find a post where someone has all of this working well.

1. Is anyone successfully recording HD ATSC into mpgeg files? The way my server works with DVR-MS files is great and if I can get the same results with mainconcept or some other mux I will continue trying, but if not I think I will keep to my current setup and worry about a client setup when things are more worked out.

2. I have contemplated picking up a PCH as a client, but if I cannot get my server to function properly in any format except dvr-ms, would a PCH make any sense or would I have the same frustrations?

Sorry for the novel.

  Part of the furniture
Posted by: Pob - 2009-01-25, 11:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I has only just dawned on me how much I use GBPVR as an everyday, reliable tool to watch and record TV. Over the Christmas and New year season I scheduled LOADS of recordings, mostly HD - and I just added them up to 593gb! Not one failed recording, in fact the one glitch was a program that started 10 minutes late and I missed the end.
Like only the best software and engineering, you stop thinking about the workings of it and just enjoy the results...
'course we all have fun getting decoders and Windows working (an oxymoron?) properly , but GBPVR itself is really very good...

  Remove Letterbox AR not available
Posted by: Jovec - 2009-01-25, 10:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

What could cause the Remove Letterbox aspect ratio from not being an option when cycling ARs with F7 (it skips it)? I have not modified the AR values in config.ini

  ZProcess: Default Template
Posted by: pbb - 2009-01-25, 10:22 PM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (7)

I'm trying to call ZProcess via the commandline. I need a template of "Trans2MVP" and a Profile of "2mpg". I saw in the documentation where I can pass the Profile setting as a switch, but I don't see how to pass the Template value. What is the best way to set the Template value so that it will persist across calls to the application, or pass it via commandline?
