Config is crashing on my PC. I am using GB-PVR Version 1.2.9 The only change I have made to it is upgrading thee firewall which is PC Tools to version 5.0. Prior to that config worked fine. Now opening config and selecting a tab freezes the machine.

I know that it is firewall related but am unsure what to do. If I disable the firewall everything works fine. I have given Full Access to GBPVR Recording Service and to PVRX2. Would the hot fix for 1.13 solve this problem? If so how can I obtain it as the link didn't work?

I have a Hauppauge PVR 500 TV Tuner.
Hauppauge PVR 500 TV Tuner and Hauppauge PVR 500 TV Tuner with FM Radio both configured to Capture Device #1 and EPG has been downloaded and updated.

I tried to record one show and watch another one but I just get a black screen.
Logs are attached to the post.

Any help pls?

Hi all - I'm trying to get playback to work in GBPVR for some files encoded in AVC1/VORB/H.264. They playback fine in VLC Media Player, but don't work in GBPVR. Attached is a screenshot of my Playback settings. The file name is typically mkv. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know many of you are deciding how to add client to GB-PVR so you might want to check out Brent Evan's articles and even make a blog comment. Today it is the case for http://www.geektonic.com/2009/01/home-th...-over.html (which as you might suspect is my choice)

Hi All,

When I play the recordings there's no audio.
- Live TV has audio and even in time shifting audio works.
- MPEG file I downloaded off the internet can be played through 'Video Library" in GBPVR
- While a file is been recorded if I click on it in the TV guide and start playing it the audio works
- But once it's done recording if I playback no audio.
This is a fresh XP installation with only GBPVR and its related packages on it.
A mpeg file I downloaded off the internet is playing fine in WMP.
Any help?

When I attempt to play a Blue Ray disk from GBPVR it very politely ejects the drawer and informs me that there is not a disk in the drive. There is a disk there. It plays with no problem using the CyberLink High Def suite software.
On DVD TAB configuration is:
Navigator CyberLink DVD Navigator (PDVD7)
Video Decoder CyberLink Video/SP Decoder
Audio Decoder CyberLink Audio Decoder
Audio Renderer CyberLink Audio Renderer (PDVD7).
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Postprocessing.bat is run hidden, for fairly intelligent reasons. One side-effect of this is that this seems to limit utilities that need to interact with the user interface. In my case, I am trying to run POWERCFG to change the standby timeout, but it is having no effect from inside this batch file.

I have implemented a dodgy workaround involving piping the POWERCFG command to a batch file, and having the task scheduler check for it "every minute". I am using a small VBS script to run the batch file hidden, according to:

This keeps the window hidden, but still passes through the UI-related commands. I feel clever, but not elegant.

I am wondering if anyone knows how to enable such utilities called from inside this file, while keeping the batch invisible?

Is anyone else seeing this issue when using a PVR150? Ever since upgrading to the latest gbpvr, whenever I attempt to pause the live tv it hangs the appliation and I have to force quit. Any ideas?

(also, being so new to this, if there is a config file or something that I can post, I'd be happy to do so - I just need to know what/where)

Can someone please suggest a capture card (with remote) that is compatible with gbpvr? I have a Hauppauge Win-TV Go card (which I learned won't work due to lack of hardware MPEG compression).

My PC (PCI only - no PCIe or AGP slots):
dell dimension 2.8 GHz P4
500 MB RAM (can buy more if necessary)
120 GB HDD (can add more if needed)
WIn XP SP3

I know I need a card w/ hardware MPEG compression - but would also like to purchase a unit that comes with a remote.

I have a 52" Zenith HD projection TV (it has component (R, B, G) only for HD input - no HDMI) and the usual composit/s-video inputs. What video card would you recommend that I buy to drive the TV? (BTW - my TV is a 'monitor' - no NTSC or HD tuner).

My local (Memphis, TN) cable provider is Comcast - due to recent financial cutbacks I have elected to drop my HD service and now have just basic cable in SD - which looks terrible on my HD set. I don't plan to upgrade back to HD service for a couple of years (trying to pay off some student loans) so I am stuck with SD on HD TV for a while. I understand why it looks bad (e.g. 480 to 1080 interpolation) - but is there a video card that would 'up-convert' my SD signal to it doesn't look quite so bad on my HD TV (even if it isn't 'true' HD).

One option I believe would work is dual tuners - and use an antenna to pick up over the air HD channels, and the other for cable?

I don't have a lot to spend - would like to do this for less than $400 if possible (am I even close to being realistic here?)
Anyway - my main concern is that it works with gbpvr.

also - can I use my old Win-TV GO card for another input? I know I cant record of that card, but would it allow me to watch one channel while recording another, PIP, etc? (or should I just retire this to the scrap heap?)

If my $400 budget is unrealistic, could this be done in 2 stages: stage 1 - get capture card working (with remote) and record/watch on my PC.
Stage 2 - buy a 'good' video card and connect to my TV.

to recap - here are my limitations:
$400-$500 for project
No HDMI plug on HD TV
No PCI express or AGP port on PC

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I will try to make a move from Mythtv to gb-pvr. One WAF are if teletext are working in gb-pvr? I can see forum posts saying that it works and some that it does not after a certain release.

(Will run a Technotrend C-1501 DVB-C on Windows XP if that has anything to do with teletext)
