I have a k-world dvbs tuner. I'm scanning the astra 2a,2d,etc satelite. All I get is a lot of repeat finds on channels such as virgin, trouble etc. No sign of the BBC's, ITV's etc.
What am I doing wrong. What have I missed?
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm wondering if it is possible to include the DVB subtitles with the transcoded xvid files GB-PVR creates using ffmpeg. Or if there is some other recommended route to include subtitles.
I'd prefer the subtitles not be burned-in to the video, but rather .srt or some such, but any subtitles is better than none.
It would be nice to have the option to show music, pix, recordings, etc with alpha sub categoroes similar to what is done in Guide Search. I would emphasize that it should be optional.
I have over 300 movies (all mine, all purchased) that I've ripped to the server drive. Getting to the "Thomas Crown Affair" takes a while. Others, with smaller collection, might not want or need this.
I am having a small issue where skipping back in live ATSC (with timeshifting enabled) causes the video to freeze for 5-10 seconds while the audio plays. After the freeze the video seems to execute the skip then run at double speed until it catches up with the audio. I am using the HW below and the ATI Mux. I use FFDSHOW for the video CODEC. It also happens with the ATI MPEG CODEC.

In the logs I run the today show at 2009-01-23 07:00:21.358 and then skip forwards and backwards a number of times while experiencing the issue. A lot of the skips look like this in PVRX2.exe.log:
The resume function on the PCH is a good step forward, but I found out it has at least one small downside for GBPVR. When you've recorded a show and watched it on the PCH and you record another show with the same title (on another date) and play it on the PCH, the PCH thinks you've already watched it and starts playing the file from the resume point of the first recording. This is because the http stream uses short file names, for example:

As you can see, there's no time and date in this file name.
I know there's a setting in config.xml called <MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT>, but that's set to false.
I am currently running a Windows Home Server separate from my GBPVR server. The WHS has a internet domain name such as SRVR1.HOMESERVER.COM. So I can access this server across the internet and I would like to be able to have a link to my GBPVR EWA so I can schedule recordings easily when not at home.
I know that I can add a link on the WHS login page, but I am not sure how to point to the GBPVR server which does not have an external IP address or DNS service running on it.
Does anyone know how I could have a link on my external facing website to get to the EWA that is on my internal network?
Longshot but some here are saying that they've got GBPVR working in win7 (I'm using the term win7 as a search for 'windows 7' will ignore the 7 as being too short). Not working here and am hoping one of you Guys can point me in the right direction..
On my system here with a WinTV Nova T-500, nothing but Media Center will work. I originally considered that having run Media Center once, it decided to install all manner of cr@p and lock control of the tuners. So I decided to do a clean re-install of the OS (build 7000 x64 - TechNet).
Once the clean install is completed device manager says the IR portion didn't install as there was no driver. A quick blast through Windows Update and the driver is installed. The WinTV shows driver version 4_3_25080 dated 2007 - the same driver as Vista64 which is working on this box on a different hard drive.
Installed GBPVR1.3.11 and before running anything installed the thmpgmux filter, then ran config. Changed the mux to thmpgmux and then went to add the tuners. Asked it to show only installed tuners and there they are. Selected one and also selected OTA DVB EPG so I didn't have to spend time setting up DigiGuide and XMLTV.
Hit Update EPG and it shows the updating panel for around 10 seconds. Go to Map Channels and get presented with the error:-
GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not already in use.
Behind that dialog box config is going through the search of the six channels for my area but fails to find anything. When that finishes there's a .NET Framework crash:-

Copying config.xml, gbpvr.db3 from the working Vista install produces the same problem.
Installed TSReaderLite which upon selection of the generic DVB-T BDA Device produces a dialog of failed to load TIF and then Graph, so no go there.
So, I had a look at BDAScanChannels_UK. This found the tuners but on asking it to search also fails with 'Cannot load TIF. This may indicate that teh Microsoft BDA components are not correctly installed' and suggests running regsvr32 against mpg2splt.ax, psisrndr.ax and mpeg2data.ax. Did this with no luck.
Downloaded installedcodec which showed that the BDA MPEG2 Transport Information Filter was not installed correctly, path was %WINDIR%\sysWoW64 with 0 bytes. Copied it from system32 to syswow64 and registered fine.
Went back to GBPVR, TSReader etc but still no joy. :mad:
So it looks like a driver issue. Updated the T-500 drivers to 4_3_26168 but that didn't make any difference, nor did connecting an HVR-900 USB tuner.
So I fired up Media Center again (and tainted this install) to which it failed to find a signal and offered manual setup and quite happily finds 2 tuners and 80 odd channels and can watch TV no problem. This tells me that it not a driver issue.
Now in hair pulling mode! Once/if I find the solution I'll torch the install and start again cleanly.
I've got a list of a few bugs (text below) and have screenshots/logs (about .5Mb). They are mostly very minor things. Is it best to report them separately or just in one post?

Sometime GBPVR leaves its image on the screen after exit. Doesn't affect anything. Screenshot from a different time than logs.

Selecting a different skin from within the player causes it to lock up for a while. Killing it and restarting it works fine, and changing the skin within Config works fine.

The first two are cosmetic
1) item circled on left - when an error in the EPG data reports two overlapping programs, the text can overlap too (when the program titles are long enough and the program times are short enough). Highlighting either program gives its text priority.
Suggestion: give the later program starting time priority - ie - if a new program is starting, assume the old one is finishing.
2) item circled on right - program name too long for allocated box. Screenshot is from the previous version and I've just noticed this has been fixed in the new version (three lines of text now display correctly), but for programs where the name still doesn't fit on 3 lines (see program in bottom right), name just ends abruptly. Maybe it's just Scotland, but there seem to be lots of 5 minute programs with long names here.
Suggestion: use '...' at the end of the last bit of text that fits in the box

EPG programs containing gaelic letters (with accents) don't display correctly - see comparision with listing on BBC site. This is using over the air EPG. Not sure if EPG overair source or GBPVR causes this.

I use a 4:3 laptop to view TV. Some stations broadcast in 16:9 widescreen, even when broadcasting 4:3 programs. Is there any way to get the image to fill the screen? Screen shots show all available formats on F7.

Slightly wierd one, happens on both full screen TV guide and F1 TV guide.
1) As per the screen shot, get the TV guide such that either the last channel or the first channel is in the bottom row, and the highlighted program is also in the bottom row. Press "Up". The whole guide scrolls leaving the highlight on the bottom row, when the expected action is for the highlight to move up one channel.
2) Similar, but scrolling down. Get the TV guide such that the last channel is in the bottom row, and the highlighted program is in the top row. Press "Down". The whole guide scrolls leaving the highlight on the top row, when the expected action is for the highlight to move down one channel.

I have buttons on my laptop for volume control. If I use them, the volume bar shows up and the volume is adjusted. If I use the left and right arrow keys, the volume bar shows up and the volume is adjusted.
However - if I use the left and right arrow keys after using the laptop volume controls, it seems to resort to the volume level as it was before the laptop volume buttons were used. Pressing the left arrow key (to decrease volume) can actually result in the volume being increased!
Use right arrow key to increase volume.
Use laptop (volume -) key to decrease volume a few steps.
Use left arrow key - volume increases!

1) Aspect ratio gets lost, have to use F7. Have a feeling this has been reported already.
2) Pressing F1 brings up TV guide but won't clear it - only [ESC] works. When just watching TV, F1 both brings up and clears the guide.

When scanning channels (having selected Scotland, Blackhill as transmitter) it skips the first channel and only scans 2 to 6. I edited the file (0090.ini) in notepad - changing it to 7 channels, with a duplicate on the first, numbered 1 to 7 - and that worked. Then I changed it back to how it was, with just 6 channels, and it worked. Wierd. Possibly a LF instead of a CR, or something like that?
Does anyone use the the Haup remote with the HD PVR? Mine doesn't work at all. I have 4 of the same remotes but can't them to work on the HdPvr with GBPVR 1.3.11. Everything else works very well (finally). All works great with the mouse and keyboard but nothing with a remote. The remotes all work on my other systems with HVR1600, pvr150 and pvr 500. Does it work at all with this setup or will I have to put a PVR150 in there just to get the remote going?
I have 2 HDPVR's and even if I switch them it still doesn't work.
I re-installed the the ir32 and set "fix hauppage 45 button" in config but still can't get it working.

I don't know much about sound systems so I have a basic question that I am getting conflicting information about.
I have a cheap sound card that supports 5.1 multichannel out and a receiver that can receive 5.1 multi channel as well. The receiver doesn't have a dolby digital or dts decoder built in. I thought with the multichannel setup I thought my computer (AC3 filter) was decoding the dolby digital or DTS signal for me and sending it to my receiver through the multichannel out. In return giving me true dolby digital or DTS sound.
A friend of mine that knows much more about this stuff than I stated that I am not receiving true dolby digital unless I send a signal to a decoder or a receiver with a built in decoder. He is not a computer person at all he just knows AV, so does he just not realize that my pc is doing the decoding or is he correct?
