With all the large files that are created and deleted on our recording drives I was wondering what everyone does about defrag. Is it just a futile effort to keep up with and really doesn't impact the system or is it something that should be done to keep things running smoothly?
Hi, newbie here. I have just installed the latest version on a Intel P4 2.8 pc with 1gb or ram, running windows XP Pro (sp2) and with an external KWorld 300u freeview adapter.
Everything works pretty good (although had severe problems getting system to pick up all channels for my region) except: I am using a program called poweroff to force the pc to shut down after a recording. Instead of shuting down the pc crashes and reboots then has a 'windows encountered a serious error' warning.
Poweroff works fine without GBPvr running, and works fine on a different pc with different capture software.
Can I ask why GBPvr hasn't got an option of what to do after a recording? i.e shut down, standby.
Had a play with my popcorn hour last night and watched a teckzilla episode. Got me thinking that it would be cool to have the Media Portal site on pvr x2.
Would an IE embedded form show up on the pvrx2 interface if it was embeded in a form, or would I effectively have to draw each element as it appears inthe file?
I now have mkv files playing in GBPVR (by installing the K-Lite codec pkg), but they generally have subtitles, and I don't know how to turn these off. How do I either turn them off per file or disable them completely?
I have 4 capture sources defined for this card, from top to bottom
Qam2 (set to device 2)
NTSC2 (set to device 2)
QAM1 (set to device 1)
NTSC1 (set to device 1)
EPG is setup and digital channels are mapped so that, for example, QAM channel 2 appears in the QAM1/2 entires but is disabled in NTSC1/2. Conversely, NTSC channels with no QAM equivalent are disabled in Qam1/2. The end result is that when switching channels I view analog or digital as appropriate for that channel and it seems to work as expected.
Assuming my sources have been setup correctly, GB-PVR does not seem to know that QAM2 and NTSC2 are the same tuner (same with 1). I can watch one channel on tuner 1, record another on tuner 2, and then GB-PVR thinks it can record a third. I thought this was addressed in 1.3.7?
I've also thought about working around this using my 1250 for QAM, with something like the following setup, with the understanding that I could only watch or record one QAM channel:
1250-QAM
2250-NTSC2
2250-NTSC1
However, I'd like to be able to add channels, such that channel 2 would be NTSC while adding a 2.1 (number arbitrary, I'd probably use 402 to mimic the local cable HD channel listings) would be QAM, and both channels would be visible in the channel guide and have (the same) guide data. By mapping the QAM channels, I'd be limited to one QAM tuner for certain channels and two NTSC tuners for the rest, which doesn't pass the wife test (the ability to watch and record varies by what channels you are trying to use). Or to rephrase, I'd like to have all NTSC channels available to the two 2250 NTSC tuners will also have the 8 QAM channels available to the 1250 shown and listed in the guide (next to their NTSC equivalents, at the end, whatever).
I am running GBPVR on a Intel dual core, 1.5gig RAM, and 100gig hard drive (PATA). After making changes in Config and then closing, it takes 30 seconds or so for Config to completely close. During this time, the hard drive is running non-stop.
Previously I was running GBPVR on an AMD 1.8ghz processor with 1gig ram and similar hard drive (PATA) and closing time was about 5-10 seconds.
I have defragged the hard drive and adjusted settings for performance.
Not sure if this is a PVR issue or a decoder issue. After a few min of watching Live TV the video will begin to stutter. If you exit Live TV and re-enter, the screen is black with no video or audio, but does have the OSD. The only way to get anything back is restart PVRX2. I have tried different codecs and video card drivers. The issue came up after I was changing decoders and playing with the video card to get better quality. i have attached the logs.
