  Setup crashing while mapping digital channels
Posted by: dfarney - 2009-01-22, 07:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

Hi - I need help with setting up GB PVR (latest version) I am able to enter Config > Capture Sources and set (edit) my recording source. Then I Empty EPG then click Update EPG then click Map digital channels to EPG channels. It then starts scanning channels - finds 2 and on channel 38 of 68 (the third channel with signal strength and quality) it -gb pvr config- freezes or sometimes gives msg that "program has encountered an error do you wish to send report to MS" or something like that. From Windows Task Manager it shows that GB-PVR Configuration is Not Responding. Also if I stop the scan after the first 2 digital channels are found and before it freezes on channel 38, I am able to map the 2 that I have and they play in the preview window - then the program (config) freezes when I clicked OK. Another update - after stopping the scan and mapping the 2 channels and freezing on OK - I now have 2 channels in my TV Guide and these 2 channels on Live TV in GB-PVR.

Here is my equipment
Computer - dual core cpu (6400?) with XP pro This cpu/motherboard/video card was running a previous version of GB-PVR - about 6 months ago - not sure of what version. What has changed is different harddrives & fresh install of XP + all updates
HDHomeRun capture device - I think that it is working OK

Here are my log files (from just before the stopping of the scan after 2 channels found)

  Harmony 880 with USB-UIRT
Posted by: pasp - 2009-01-22, 05:18 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I've been using GBPVR with HD HomeRun with keyboard for a month or so and bought a USB-UIRT to connect it to my Harmony remote. I've setup GBPVR to use the USB-UIRT. I selected Media Center PC in the Harmony, but no signals are being received to the computer.

Do I need some other software on the computer? I see references to Happauge remotes but not Harmony on GBPVR. Does GBPVR work only with Happauge? I tried programming GBPVR to Harmony IR codes but no codes are being received. Is my problem on the PC side or the remote side?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
Paul

  Not playing recording
Posted by: gazoo - 2009-01-22, 05:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I'm on my client (xp pro sp2) trying to play a recording on the server and the screen goes dark for a sec like it is going to play it and then it pops me back to the recordings screen and doesn't play it. It is doing this on a set of recordings that I imported into the server via vidimport (it works fine on the server).

Logs for pvrx2 attached. Let me know if I need the svr logs. I was trying to play knight rider at 1/22 12:09-12:12

  Looking for ts information
Posted by: mattman1968 - 2009-01-22, 03:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Since reinstalling my OS and GBPVR I've been recording OTA HD via the TS mux. I previously used DVRMS happily but after the reinstall my intervideo decoder doesn't work anymore, and the cyberlink decoder for whatever reason freezes the DVRMS playback on my system. That being said I think I actually prefer the ts recordings.
My area of concern is that mpegs, DVRMS, DVDs ,etc all play audio through my choosen audio renderer (ATI HD audio rear output attached via HDMI to TV) in the GBPVR configuration. However, ts files, will NOT play audio through that output unless I actually open the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel and manually adjust the sound playback device to the ATI over Realtek.
It's a minor inconvenience but can anyone explain why the ts files behave that way? I've tried playing with different audio decoders and AC3 filter to no avail.
I appreciate any info you can share.

Mattman

  Problem of 0 kb recordings and possible help from GBPVR.
Posted by: rob11252 - 2009-01-22, 02:56 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Recently my Hauppauge PVR-1600 started to misbehave which resulted in many 0 kb or recordings cut short. I've upgraded the driver so hopefully it will go away for me, but the problem exists for many of us.
This scenario is frustrating because the tuner status is reporting that all is OK, the file is listed on the 'Ready' or 'What's New' lists and it is only when you want to watch you find out that there is nothing there!

The only way for me to check if the recording is really happenings is this:
1. Start playing it while it is being recorded. Hit Ctrl-B to show OSD. See if the number showing total length of the show is changing; or
2. Close PVRX2. Grab my keyboard. Open TV folder and see the size of the file. Refresh after a while to see if it is changing.

I don't know how to create a plugin which would show the REAL recording status, but maybe, by thinking out loud, can give sub (recordingservice.exe) or wakalaka (recording status plugin) or Mr. Slimm (Slimm GBPVR) some ideas and hope they will be simple to implement.

My first idea is this: show recorder and current file length on 'Pending' screen. Or file size instead. This info could be left over when file is moved to 'Whats new' screen for easy identification of offending recorder. See jpg example. Or example of the tuner status plugin modified to show current length and size of the file.

My second thought is that the recording service could periodically check the length of the recorded file, and if it is not changing, issue a warning and/or try to switch to another tuner if available.

What do you think?

  Freeing up GBPVRUiElement's
Posted by: InVermont - 2009-01-22, 01:44 AM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

This is the gist of what I am trying

//class member vars
private Bitmap screenBitmap;
private GBPVRUiElement screenBitmapElement;

//in Activate, first run through
screenBitmap = new Bitmap(bWidth, bheight);
//draw on bitmap, add text, whatever
screenBitmapElement = new GBPVRUiElement("screenBitmap", startingLocationRect, screenBitmap );

//in GetRenderList()
renderList.Add(screenBitmapElement)

This all works like expected, displaying the bitmap. However, when I go to change the bitmap

private void changeBitmap()
{
using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(screenBitmap)) {
//draw on it, add text, decide to move it around, whatever

}
screenBitmapElement = new GBPVRUiElement("screenBitmap", NewRect,
screenBitmap );
}

I think this bleeds memory, as I am not cleaning up the original screenBitmapElement, just pointing it to a new one.
I have tried variations along the lines of

using (Graphics g = ...

ArrayList disposeList = new ArrayList()
disposeList.Add( screenBitmapElement );
PluginHelper.DisposeResources(disposeList);

screenBitmapElement = new GBPVRUiElement("screenBitmap", NewLocationRect,
screenBitmap );

and it explodes.
How do I clean up the original
screenBitmapElement ? Do I need to?

Is there a better way of doing it?

thanks

  One channel not working
Posted by: big3b69 - 2009-01-22, 01:05 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I have an issue with one of my channels not working. When I am surfing through and come to my ABC channel it just stays black. Now when I view it through the TV tunner it comes in fine. Now a weird thing that happens, is if I try and record from that channel it will record but the playback is not great. It will freeze up then fast forward. I do not have time rigt now to zip the log files, but after work I can if necessary.
Thanks,
Matt B.

  Editing Reoccurring Titles
Posted by: reyngreg - 2009-01-21, 11:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hopefully two simple questions:

1- When setting up a reoccurring schedule based upon a show's title, what text is used to determine whether or not a show matches the request?

2- Where can I edit the text, mentioned in the first question, that is used to match the request?

Background of the questions:

When I look at the list of reoccurring shows, I noticed that the show title and the title of the episode that happened to be chosen at the time is displayed. I'd like to do two things -- First, I'd like to edit the titles that show up in the list so that I can more easily see what's there and what may be a duplicate. Second, I'd like to see if I can catch any episode from any season of shows that use a season number in the title (e.g. "Amazing Race 13" vs "Amazing Race 12").

Thanks.

  Can't get Channel Mapper to work with Avermedia Hybrid Volar Max QAM
Posted by: jonman1124 - 2009-01-21, 11:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I am trying to set up GBPVR v1.3.11 to work with my Avermedia Hybrid Volar Max (H826) using QAM.

I can add the device under Capture Sources; the config program can detect and correctly identifies the USB tuner stick that I have, giving me the option to choose ATSC or QAM. I chose QAM.

But when I go to scan my channels, nothing comes up. When I look at the USB tuner stick, the blue activity led doesn't turn on.

After allowing the channel mapper to scan for a while with no channels detected, the config program crashes and exits.

I am running windows xp SP3 on an AMD X2 4200+ with 2GB of PC3200 Ram.

I'm updating this post from work right now, so i'll zip and upload my log files when I get home.
