sub,
This isn't something I expect you to fix, but wanted to make you aware of it.
I use a NAS for archived recordings and periodically I take it offline. When I do, performance of the NextPVR client drops substantially when browsing or pulling up the guide. I don't recall having this issue with V4, but I could be wrong.
For example, loading the Recordings list in this case took over a minute. Maybe a network timeout setting? (I have a large number of recordings)
2022-04-08 16:27:30.050 [DEBUG][1] LoadList@1
2022-04-08 16:28:36.176 [DEBUG][1] LoadList@2
I can do more testing and provide detailed logs if you want.
When I am watching a recording on iPad or iPhone, I am not able to fast forward or rewind. Also, when I move the scrubber control to the right, the video does not forward, but instead it starts over from the beginning.
Only new here to the forums but thought I should keep issues separate instead of creating one big topic.
Having some trouble in how timeshifting is working. I often set the news to record at 6pm for instance and once I am ready to watch it (could be about 6:15pm) I then start the recording. Bonus of doing this is I can usually fast forward through most ads meaning no watching commercials (yay!).
When fast forwarding however, on reaching real time, the timeshifting seems to go whack where it starts to continue fast forwarding into the future for some odd reason. The expected behaviour I would think is once it reaches real-time it should just start playing as there is no more fast-forward available at that point however it still continues to persist. Manually pressing play resolves it just seems strange and thought I should raise this as a potential bug.
I added a second HDHomerun tuner this afternoon, but I can't seem to get it to work. I tried it from Lodi first, but then had the same problem in the web interface. I can add two recordings, but I am not able to add a third one. I have attached log files.
I upgraded my bare metal Linux Mint to to the latest version 5.2.7.220410 and I am experiencing a couple of issues I did not see before the upgrade.
1. I am using Kodi 19.3 on a Firestick as the fromt end. When I have All Channels selected, I see a duplicate channel for all channels in the guide. My first channel is 7.1 WSAWDT and the second channel has the exact same entry. The rest of the channels are that way too. If I switch to the HDHomeRun Channels in Lodi, I see the channels as they used to be before the upgrade...only one entry per channel.
2. After goin to the guide, I select a show to watch live, when I click on Switch to watch the channel live, it takes about 20 seconds before the show starts, it used to take 3-5 seconds.
I've updated to the latest build. But I was seeing this issue with the prior build as well. Also running the latest NLite (3/2).
If I try to play a live recording from NLite (client machine), I get a blank screen. The progress bar appears, then disappears on timeout. I can still exit the playback from NLite.
I'm using the DVB EPG from UK Freeview, and have noticed that while for many/most shows any series+episode numbering contained in the programme's description is identified and extracted into "proper" episode numbering - there are quite a lot of shows where this is not happening even though the relevant information *is* in the description.
Based on which are and aren't, it looks like just a case of slightly differing formats and I'm hoping that the appropriate regex (I'm assuming that's how it's done) can be updated/refined in a future version to handle these additional cases...
Example working formats: "...(S1 Ep1/8)..." & "...(S1 Ep1)..." & "...S1 Ep1"
Example formats not being recognised:
"...(S1 Ep 1)..." - e.g. used by '5USA' channel
"...(S1, ep 1)..." - e.g. used by 'Pick' & 'Sky Arts' channels
"...S1, ep 1/8..." - e.g. used by 'Forces TV' channel (at least 1 series but not sure if it's common - just found it when I searched on "S1," to find examples!)
It may just be the space before the episode number throwing it off (only factor common to them all), though the comma after the series number &/or the lowercase "ep" might also need checking! (If it isn't simply this difference in formats, I'm happy to provide fuller source data or whatever else might be needed for diagnosis.)
Thanks,
Steve
P.S. - there's also lots and lots of programmes (e.g. most BBC series) that only have episode numbers but no series info, where the description starts (e.g.) "1/8. Blah blah..."
Obviously without any series data I'm not sure it makes sense to pull out the numbering data in these cases - but I wonder if using this to create a *subtitle* of "Episode 1" (assuming no subtitle already exists) would be useful in terms of how it would be presented in the NPVR interface and/or in other front-end clients (e.g. Kodi/Plex/whatever) that people use to build libraries from the NPVR recording folder(s)? It might also help with any matching to online sources like TMDB, as this is commonly used where episodes are not individually named. Just something to perhaps consider?
As a user of NextPVR since v3.x, just wanted to say that I'm really happy with the upgrade to v5.2.6. It was probably about time because I don't believe the next version of KODI will support NPVR v4 any longer.
I am using a modest Windows 7 Pro PC based system with NextPVR as the back-end and KODI 19.3 as the front-end client, all within one box. Using a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD TV Tuner for over-the-air HDTV reception. I realize that Win 7 is not really supported any more, but it has just worked fine as a PVR, and continues to do so. Great news is that it has no issues that I can find with the new version of NextPVR and the KODI client!
The basic v5 install process was very straightforward, but I will share a couple of mistakes that I made in migrating from my existing v4 setup, and then sorted out (by searching the forum for help).
1. Copying the old "npvr.db3" folder. I copied it to the wrong location in error somehow. Make sure you back up the old one and copy it to the correct path in v5. On Windows, that would be "C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data".
2. Somehow I decided to delete and re-scan my TV channels. I use Schedules Direct, and that is not the default program guide when new channels are added. So it took me a day or so to figure out why my program guide was missing a lot of data. It turned out that the default was for DVB/ATSC EPG, which was pulling EPG data off the air!
All good now, and has been running flawlessly for about a month!
Thanks for the great upgrade, and love the new Web admin app!
I have a machine running Ubuntu Server 20.04 with a TBS 5521 connected to a Sky satellite dish. Actually most TV channels are working fine - I have a good signal, clear pictures and reliable streams. However, some channels fail to work. Looking at the logs, the main difference between a working channel and one that doesn't is this message: [ERROR] Writer failed to get PMT pid

My understanding is that the system is getting a lock on the signal, its failing to set up the transcoding part of the pipeline.
Does anyone have any advice as to where to look next in tracking down this fault?
I utilise Kodi with the NextPVR backend on a Windows 10 Pro machine. It is connected directly to the TV via HDMI using a RTX3050
I am having some strange issues which I've been able to re-create on multiple machines in my house.
When playing an IPTV stream, if the content of the stream changes (for instance a commercial or another episode of a show starts to play) this causes a couple of different results:
* Screen goes completely black (No indication of what is happening). To resolve I have to stop watching the channel then go back into the same channel and it will start working again however you can see that it has either gone onto a different show playing or It'll be on some screen saying "We will be back soon" or something like that.
* Stream successfully transitions to the next video however no audio is playing. Stopping the channel then starting again fixes this.
At the end of a video I've also observed it popping up with "Timeshift" up the top and then it suddenly starts to play back the last video that was playing. It is as if it rewound itself to when I first started watching the channel and started playing the same stuff again.. talk about groundhog day huh!
The IPTV streams I've noticed this occuring on is PlutoTV, SamsungLiveIPTV streams. Also I utilised VLC to create my own stream where it loops through different animation shows just for my internal use. This also has the same problems as Pluto, SamsungLive streams.
I have noticed in some testing using my own stream from VLC playing videos of the same format (as in running my own IPTV stream where it goes through multiple .mp4 videos in a row) it appears to work fine... chuck another format like mkv or avi into the mix and it starts displaying similar outcomes as the two points above.
So far I have tried:
Reinstall of the whole computer (Tried windows 11 initially but found it was incompatible with other software I needed)
Fiddling with NextPVR backend settings like padding, livetv buffer etc.
Turning "Use direct stream" on/off but no change
I have used some people suggest different decoders like LAVFilters? However I couldn't find any way to change the decoders in Kodi (albeit I am new to the software still).
Any suggestions would be super helpful! Happy to provide logs and all just might need guidance where to grab them from please.
