I'm trying out gbpvr 1.3.7, and I find the playback to be very slow. The menu navigation is smooth. I'm currently using the software in a stand alone PC with no TV card or internet connection. The video is on CD and is an XviD with MP3 audio. The software shows 1 frame about every 2 to 3 seconds. A further test to see if it was the video or the software, was to play a standard video from Windows. I choose clocks.avi from the Windows folder. Same issue. From that video, only 3 frames were shown. During the time no frame was played, the screen was black, with the XviD video, the screen did not turn black, however, only the image was shown from the video, verses actual playback.
The sound, however, played fine.
The same two videos, in Windows Media Player, play without error.
Is there some setting that needs to be done to get the playback to work correctly?
The installation is on a new (fresh) install of Windows XP Pro with SP2 and WM11. I have ffdshow installed for video and audio playback. System is 1Ghz with 512MB RAM, and a 160GB HDD. Currently only a 52X CD-ROM is available, and no internet. Future changes will convert to a DVD drive with a WiFi USB for internet. TV Card installation is currently impossible due to the case design, although the mainboard (VIA EPIA M10000) supports it.
I have tried the MediaPortal software, however, the menu navigation is impossible to use, slow and bulky. After trying gbpvr, I'm sold on the simple navigation and fluid menu control. Just need the video playback to work correctly. Photos and music appear to work correctly, however no major testing was done.
So, before asked 'Why install the software without a TV Card?', the system setup is for watching videos, listening to music and viewing photos. Its possible to do this with normal Windows software, however, we are wanting an application that puts this all into one simple interface that allows for remote control navigation; something normal Windows doesn't do (unless you have Windows Media Center).
I'm using a laptop, HVR-950, an external USB disk, (for recordings) and GBPVR 1.3.7 for a portable PVR I take on the road with me. I had several (>15) recordings ready to watch when I shutdown the notebook, disconnected the external disk, and went to a jobsite. When I got back to my room I plugged the external disk back in, powered up the lappy, and voila... no more recordings ready to watch. All the scheduled ones are still in there, just nothing new or ready.
If I wasn't in a hurry, a db export would have been nice. Never thought of it as I've done this before on previous versions of GBPVR. But this still doesn't seem like expected behavior. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year!
just a small one: If I watch a ripped dvd (.dvd extension) from video library the first press of esc/back correctly brings up the dvd menu but pressing esc/back again jumps right back to the pvrx2 main menu instead of the video library folder structure.
This doesn't happen with any other file type.
the old ui used to keep a video inset playing if you went to the menus from live TV - is this missing (and will this be coming back to PVRX2) or have I just forgotten a setting somewhere?

it was closed due to a mistake, it was not the author issue, nor yahoo changed the API, yahoo site was just down for few weeks,
now it is up.
I am playing around with a client PC. I can view recordings, etc. But when I try LiveTV, it doesn't execute the channel changer on the server.
So if I try to watch channel 10 on the client, and the server is currently on channel 250, I get channel 250. But the client thinks it is channel 10 (according to the filename, OSD, etc.).
I am using the .exe channel changer to change my Directv STB. It works when I use it on the server directly.
I've attached the server log file for the recordingservice-native. As it was the only one that updated when I performed the task from the client machine.
I have a Hauppauge Nova-S Plus card and have just installed GB-PVR because I want to try to watch BBC HD.
I've scanned for channels and GB-PVR lists BBC HD, but when I access the channel I hear the sound but get no picture, just a black screen. Please can someone advise me what's wrong?
I have been working to setup up GBPVR using a Hauppauge HVR-1250 card to Comcast cable north of Boston. I have verified with Hauppauge's WinTV that the cable uses HRC frequencies. I have also used the GBPVR TuningAssistant and verified that indeed HRC frequencies are needed to tune in cable channels.
My problem is that I can not figure out how to get GBPVR set up or QAM channel scan to use HRC frequencies. So, I have no channels/no TV.
In my searching on this forum and the Wiki for a solution I came across reply made by serisman that said:
The link gives a file that clearly puts a US cable HRC tuning set of frequencies into the registry. But, how to make GBPVR use them? Or, in other words, putting these numbers into the registry did not solve my problem.
If it matters I am on Vista32 Home Premium with SP1.
What step am I missing/how to make GBPVR use HRC cable tuning????
I currently have an analog TV and running GVPVR with it. I have set up a four device component switch to switch between my wii and GBPVR (and a DVD player). If my computer running GBPVR is running and I switch to another component and then switch back, my screen display is black (as if there is no signal going from my computer to the TV).
The only way to do it without error is to make sure my computer is in standby and switch devices. Has anyone encountered this? Anyway of fixing this? It's starting to get annoying!
