With the advent of QAM and OTA recording there are situations where an SD channel is available on both analog and digital tuners. It would be nice if, as an option, when you set up a recording from the EPG you could select which tuner to use.
I have a dual analog tuner and a Hauppauge 2250 digital tuner where the analog tuner and the analog side of the 2250 share the same EPG data. Some of my QAM stations are also mapped to the matching analog stations. My HD stations are mapped to seperate stations in the EPG. The order of the devices for recording is to pick my analog tuner first then the analog on the 2250 then the digital. This suits me well since most of the stations are SD and this will leave my digital tuners free most of the time for when I need to record HD material. But there are times when I want to record an SD show on the digital tuner because of the better video and audio quality. Just a simple option to reserve the tuner for a particular show would be nice.
I've been running GB-PVRv 1.3.7 for a few months with no problems on a DELL GX240 P4 1.7GHz. Recently I decided to switch from my local cable company to Dish Network. I bought a receiver (DP301) and hooked up the IR blaster that came with the Hauppauge 1600 card i had been using. While using COX cable as my source I didn't need the blaster because I didn't have a STB. I used the blaster configuration tool and found that code 431 worked and finished the install. The blaster works flawlessly to change channels on the STB but I run into a problem when I record shows. The blaster somehow fails to communicate all the channel numbers to the STB and I end up recording the wrong channel. I've tried tweaking the tuning delay and send time settings in the blaster config but had no luck solving the problem. I think the problem may be that the STB needs to be sent a wake up signal from the blaster so it then can receive the channel numbers. The problem is that the code set does not have this option and I can't find one for this STB that does have a "power on" option. Does anyone know of a code set that has the "power on" option? Or is there someway to blast a command to the STB to prep it for the channel blasts?
I replaced my gfx card recently, and had to reinstall drivers for my tv card at the same time. Now my recordings are all failing. Not sure why but seems to be a formatting exception in the logs. Logs Attached, let me know if anything else needed
The new multirecord feature has got me curious about upgrading. I currently have a PVR-150 and PVR-USB2 dual tuner solution going with a cable splitter.
I also have a digital cable box (Time Warner Cincinnati) that I use as an alternative plugged directly into the tv.
A few questions about getting started:
Can I use a new digital card with my digital cable box or does the card take place of the box?
Do digital cards take any more processing power/ram than the PVR-150s?
I've been using GBPVR for some time now and LOVE IT LOVE IT. The problem I have is that the IR receiver for my Hauppauge remote is busted. Also, upon further inspection, the jack for the IR receiver/blaster is damaged(probably from being moved with being unplugged). I'm in a spot now where I need a new remote control for the PC. I'd like it to control the television and receiver as well(both IR devices), but I'd like the PC control to be RF if possible. Line of sight can reduce the WAF. I'm using a Windows XP Pro machine(not media center), but my understanding is that some of these remotes are compatible with both. What is the best remote suited for my application? I've looked at the Logitech Harmony series but I'm not sure if they're RF or not, or if they come with a USB receiver as they're supposed to be MCE remote replacements. I've also looked at those Gyration remotes but I currently use a mouse and a keyboard on the couch and I didn't know if the Gyration remote would bounce the cursor around if it was sitting on the couch or what-not, and also it only advertises as compatible with MCE. Any input? I KNOW one of you knows the perfect solution

I have an ATI TV wonder card. Set top box with satelite connection ...
I can get the television to display when I use the tuning assitant but I have not seen it with PVRX2. (fixed channel external tuner)
I assume I have something set up wrong but I have not been able to figure it out.
Direct x 9c is installed
nvidia decoder is installed
I have attached the log files.
Any help is appreciated.

I've used my pvr 500 for a while and have the bit rate set to 9000 with audio set to 256. Recording a 1 hour program is always 4gb.....still is. But, with the same settings on my 2250, a 1 hour is just about 3GB. Why the difference? Mpegs in Media Center using the 2250 give me almost 4gb sizes.
Running each in Gspot to see what it shows actually has the smaller files at a higher VBR.
But, if both tuners are configured the same, should there be as much of a difference?
I am having problems playing an AVI file on the PCH. The vid + audio stutters very badly.
The file plays fine on PC and (transcoded) over the MVP. It seems the PCH has problems playing this natively. Other than NMT adding this functionality, is anything else I can do to have the PCH play it?
btw would there be any use adding a transcoding option (similar to the MVP) for the PCH for these non-playable (by the PCH) formats?

I'm using 1.3.7 and I'm getting this error. I have the recorder set up on a Vista64 box, that works fine, live TV works. Then I installed 1.3.7 on an XP SP3 laptop, and i get the AccessViolationException whenever I try to use Live TV, or any music/video. I have disabled the firewall on both machines, and UAC is disabled on the Vista machine
I tried the KB article listed in the survival guide link, but since I have the .NET 3.5 framework installed, the KB article doesn't even try to install, nor is it applicable. The versions it tries to install are less then the ones I already have installed in the GAC.
I'm not even sure where to start looking yet, but figured I'd throw it out to see if anyone else has seen it.

I've been "playing" trying to set up multiple tuners. In the process I lost my TV guide. All the channels are displayed but the comment "No show details" is the only description.
The xml file is still in the right directory. The tuners all point to that directory and my scheduled programs are still in the pending recordings list.
My xml file is from yapi2xml and it was downloaded Nov 24 so it is still good until next Sun or Mon.
Is there anything I can do to get it to display again in TV Guide.
