Not really a gb-pvr support question but rather a codec question
Recently, I've been noticing my quartz.dll (version b which fixes my stutter) is getting replaced with version c ALL THE TIME.
I used the replacer from the wiki, and it replaces, (even defeating the 'can't change a system file' warning) and it's fine till some other event.
Maybe Windows Update is detecting a upgrade is available and overwrites, but I'm pretty sure that the file is registered to be the 'correct' version even though I guess it is older...
Anyone know of a better way to replace with an older file and make it stick?
My gbpvr setup has started giving me this strange error all of a sudden that there are no tv tuners available. Please see the attached jpg. I am also attaching pvrx2.log. I have 3 sources available in the config and it was working fine till just a few days ago.
Running latest GBPVR 1.2.13
I had GBPVR set to record Greys Anatomy and Life on mars both on same channel 7. Had two problems. Right near the end of first show at about 9:58m computer shut off. I think that was maybe caused because i had update EPG set at 10pm not sure if that would cause problem. I forgot to set the update EPG back to 6pm were I normally keep it set at.
Restarted computer, then started GBPVR went to shows pending and it was now recording Greys Anatomy which ended at 10:01pm and Life on Mars started at 10:01 same channel. At this point i watched at 10:01pm it switched now showing that it now was recording Life On Mars. So i thought all was fine. Now after recording it was over it now only shows Greys Anatomy was recorded no Life On Mars. I looked at the folder were the shows are stored after recording and GBPVR made a folder for Life On Mars but nothing in it. I attached all the log files in a zip file.
I have Comskip installed set to remove commercials after recording is done, latest version I just got in last week
I recently purchased a usb "tuner card" from Newegg so that I can watch and capture antenna tv on my laptop. The usb tuner is:
AverMedia: AverTV Hybrid Volar Max (H826)
It doesn't seem to be compatible with GBPVR or at least I can't seem to find away to get the program to recognize it. Is there any way to get it to work out? I really think GBPVR looks like a great program (much better than the AVER media center), so I'd really like to use it. And since I've had the tuner for about a week, I'm not sure that Newegg would take it back.
Please let me know ASAP, I'd like to use GBPVR to record Kath and Kim for my wife if I can!!!
Due to a couple niggles - i rebuilt my pc. (Was xp sp2 before).
Its now XP SP3.
however my issue is this.
#1 On the recordings menu - when i view a recording - i no longer have 'resume' as an option - so if i stop viewing for whatever reason - and wish to view at later date - i have to skip all the way to where i was previously.
#2 i use multidec - and under the previous install - if i set gbpvr to watch one multidec and record another - it would fire up 2 instances of acamd plugin. This is not happening now. in fact even if i dont watch anything - but still set to record the multidec add in is not fired up... hmm?
#3 when i choose 'restart' or 'shutdown' after i click on the power button on our hauppauge remote - gbpvr just exits - the pc is no longer shut down or rebooted.
Not too sure if XP SP3 is the cause of any of this - but the reinstall has sorted all the other niggles i had. Of course i did install the latest version of community skin / skin plugin - rather than versions i have on the old setup.
any ideas?
is there something looking me right in the face that im not seeing?
I'm running into a strange issue which I finally figured out appears to be due to sub-channel entries in my XML download. Here's the issue:
I have schedulesdirect configured to provide my standard cable lineup and a select OTA lineup for my QAM available channels, so I get content info for those also. I disable the OTA channels in my analog CS and vice-versa in my digital CS. When gbpvr gets the xml however, it replaces the cable entry with the first subchannel, then any other subchannels are listed at the end with the cable channel itself, and I've been having issues with cross-communications on the two sides of my HVR 1600. Is there any way to find out why gbpvr is setting the first subchannel in place of the primary channel?
example:
cable channel 29 is LIFE
OTA channel 29.1 is KABBDT
KABBDT gets thrown in place of life, and life gets thrown to the end along with any other subchannels.
Could you guys recommend a card that works with gbpvr that will go in laptop and record analog or hi def ota. I have dual core amd x2 64bit with 4gb of ram
Some time back i heard of a utility mentioned that would automatically export your recordings, tidy up your channels removing old ones and re-import your recordings.
Can anyone remind me of this app please as i can't find it now!
I don't have the option of restarting with a clean database as it took me ages to remap the sky channels to the correct frequencies in the first place
Trying to play AVIs or MPGs that require transcoding - sometimes works fine on my MVP. But most of the time there is a pause, then disconnects from the server. I assume it timed out before the stream started.
Best solution for this? I assume there is a delay setting, but I don't want to add a delay to normal video, only the files that need to be transcoded. Though if I HAVE to do it for both, that's fine.

On a side note, what format do I need to convert these files to in order to avoid the transcode? I know this has been asked over and over Sorry. Any program recommendations to do this conversion? I tried using the "Transcode" in the MVP menu but it didnt seem to do anything.
I'm planning on buying an HDTV and would like to be able to record shows on my computer and play them back on the TV. I'll either use satellite or OTA for the feed.
What tv tuner would you recommend? Also do I need to get a video card?
My computer is a P4 3.0 Ghz, 2.5 GB of Ram, and 70 GB Hard Drive. I'll likely get a bigger hard drive so I can record more shows.
Is installing and configuring gbpvr pretty straight forward? Is there anything else I should consider?
