do my tv card and remote have to match or can i buy a tv and buy any remote later? is there any advantage to buying a all in one?

Hello all, new member here.

I just recently purchased a Hauppauge HD PVR and well I really have not used it because the lack of MC support. My buddy recorded a video on his camcorder (not digital) and I want to convert it over to PC. I did use the arcsoft software to do that but the quality came out really bad (it looks better on tv than on my pc for some reason). Is there another application that I could use to capture video/audio from my Hauppauge HD PVR other than Arcsoft?

I have also used it to record tv shows but lately i have been seeing sort-of transparent horizontal lines move up and down on my samsung LCD.

I have checked the cables and I can't get rid of them. Is it possible that the device is defective?

The first problem is that it doesn't update the channels properly. A channel called 'The Hits' has been replaced by one called '4music', the newly updated xmltv file has nothing relating to the old channel yet even if I delete all channels and click update EPG in the config.exe it adds a new channel as 'The Hits' not '4music' as the XML data has it.

This also relates to another similar problem in that it won't add new listings to the tv guide, it'll go through the update procedure but not actually do it and all I'm left with is a TV guide full of 'no show data'.

I've tried deleting the db3 file and starting fresh, changing the directory of the .xml file that it reads the listings data from and tried deleting all channels and the capture source and starting fresh but it still happens.

I've zipped and attached the config.exe logs.

I have 2 HVR-1600s and I am about to do my QAM scan which takes a little while.

I see some ini files in the BDA folder and I wonder if I can modify them to speed things up a bit.

My first QAM channel comes in at 71, so half the search is useless and time consuming. Can i tell the scanner to start at channel 70?

Hi, I am about to give comskip.exe a go. One question though...If comskip.exe goes to work on a mpeg file after it has been recorded, what happens if you are currently watching that as it has finished recording? Will comskip.exe not go to work on the mpeg file as the file is locked? Also, is it very taxing on IO?

Just on another note...someone told me you shouldn't mix a UHF aerial with a VHF aerial into one output?

Hey folks. I've been using gbpvr for a few months now and I love it. My only recurring problem is that I'm getting frequent crashes. If I sit down to watch more than an hour of TV it's a guarantee that gbpvr will either lock up, requiring a ctrl-alt-del or freeze my entire system, necessitating a restart.

This problem almost always occurs while navigating menus (scrolling through list of recordings, deleting or selecting files to play, etc.) rather than during playback. I'm using the SearchWiz, Comskip, and Community Skin plugins as well as Slimm GB-PVR, but this problem existed before I installed those.

I'm running version 1.213 on an XP machine with 2 GB of memory, AMD 3200 CPU, ATI All in Wonder 9600 graphics card, and a Hauppauge WinTV 1600.

I zipped the logs right after restarting post-system crash. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

I am looking to move from VMC to GBPvr and installed software and started to configure tuner.

Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT #1 DVB-T and Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT #2 DVB-T both detected OK
Set up both device as #1, set transmitter as UK Crystal Palace

Run Map Digital channels to EPG channels and after initialisation, and scanning with zero signal, reported "No channels found. Please check your signal and configuration settings"

Repeated with different Terratec BDA drivers
Driver 284 - No channels
Driver 283a - No channels
Driver 260 - No channels
Driver 255 - Channels found but reported error before finishing
Channels found on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 but on 6 error message
".NET Framework
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application ...
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt"
Then another error message
"GB-PVR Configuration error - has encountered a problem and needs to close"
and closed

Reloaded and repeated scan with same error.

Please advice on configuring GBPvr with the Cinergy 2400iDT dual tuner.

Has anyone got the latest nativeutil .dll and gbpvrtsreader Ive had to reinstall completely because of some database corruption and I need these to fix some issues that I have.

I get a big screen with a RED X on a white background with some window error message. This scenario happens when:

1. Both the Client & Server machine is turned on
2. The network share NAS is not accessible
3. Client machine has auto start of PVRX2.EXE

However, when I start the NAS, everything works fine.

I am not sure the PVRX2.EXE must crash when a particular resource directory is unavailable?

Any comments?

I have no idea at all if my problem is related to this or not.

When I watch Live TV using my HD-PVR everything works fine. But when I want to watch a recording, I get audio synch problems. I don't know if its a variable delay (my guess is that it is), but it seems to range from 0ms to 100ms throughout the playback. It's most noticeable when someone speaks. (voice continues a bit after the lips stop moving)

I was wondering if anybody had an idea of the cause.
