I see that there aren't other posts regarding this so it's probably something on this side.
After upgrading to 1.2.13, the screens on the MVP won't refresh properly. For testing I went to the default blue skin.
THe MVP loads and I see the main page. If I arrow up or down, there seems to be a flicker, maybe even some movement (animation's not possible right?) and then most of the screen is black. There is a status for time at the top, and the description for the slected page at the bottom. I can't see the background, the buttons, or the selected button.
If you I use the hot keys on the remote, Videos let's say, the main Video Library screen shows correctly. As soon as I click an up/down, the same behaviour: Black screen only a few elements displaying.
It makes navigation impossible.
During install, (seemed flawless). On reinstall, I made sure all services were stopped. I had to uninstall before another install. Again all went well.
I power cycled the mvp to make sure a fresh copy of the dongle was downloaded, that too seemed to work correctly and quickly...
I've almost got gbpvr working, in that everything tunes in properly, video quality is excellent, etc, but I get consistent crashes to desktop while attempting to change channel. This happens every single session, but doesn't happen on every channel change.
If I leave gbpvr on a single channel, it'll happily play it for hours. The crashes happen regardless of method used to change channel - pgUp/pgDown, direct skip, via the guide, etc.
Hardware is an Asus M2A-VM (onboard 680G graphics), using the MS multiplexer (also tried the ATI avivo one), and nVidia Purevideo decoder. Tuner card is a Nova-T USB2 on latest drivers. I'm using VMR9 FSE, but the other options don't help either.
I've attached the logs from a crash to desktop that also causes the white screen, red X, .Net exception. Most crashes are just to desktop with no other warnings though.

Really interesting development⦠I had Cablevision DVR box for some time. It worked OK except that all Russian channels in my area are running behind Guide schedules (from 10 minutes, during weekdays to 30-40 minutes during weekends). So most of my shows are recorded without 10 - 40 minutes at the end. So I start looking into PC based solutions with greater flexibility. I spend one week on wi-ki and forum and pretty much made everything to work butâ¦.!!!!
First of all here is my hardware setup:
This computer is only for DVR. Itâs a Dell Precision 4600, P4 2.8 GHz with HT, 512MB PC3200 RAM (if you suggest I can put 1GB, but using performance monitor it looks like memory usage is under 350MB), 500GB Sata-150 drive, ATI Radeon 9550 Videocard with the latest Catalyst drivers and MCE-3000 (PTV-305) TV capture card, connected to Cable box via composite cable, not built-in TV Tuner). The whole setup is running XP Pro with SP3 and all available updates installed. Direct 9c.
GBPVR2 1.2.13, Yahoo! TV EPG installed and working (420 digital channels imported into GBPVR2). GBPVR2 changes channel on TSB using Microsoft IR blaster/remote.
To get some extra codecâs I installed Nero 7, Power DVD 5 and K-Lite set of decoders/filters. As without installing Power DVD i had black screen, ensteaf of life TV. Everything seams to work but unusable and here is why:
1. Going to Guide take forever to refresh listings on monitor. My Russian channels at 251 position â and it take good 2 minuts for listing to refresh to that point. I thought after I reload EPG from yapixml.xml it should be available instantly in GBPVR2. What can be wrong???
2. picture in life TV is far from acceptable. Very âGhostyâ (fussy and with some delays and out of sync with sound). I Played with playback decoders, but it didnât help much. Could you point me in right direction please.
(just FYI. the recorded shows are OK if played outside GBPVR)
Never mind on #2. i see there is no simple answer on this. i'll continue experementing. will start with Direct 9b and replace Power DVD 5 to trail Power DVD 7
3. and last but not least. Is my hardware configuration strong enough for the latest releases? Maybe I should use GBPVR instead of PVRX2??? If yes, where do I get older stable version?
4. Is there a way to instruct GBPVR to changed channel to require one right before recording? I ran into problem that GBPVR âthinksâ itâs on right channel, but TSB was changed to a different channel by TSB remote?
I do not need any extras!! I need just to record shows and late watch them. Maybe in the future do commercials skip and DVD burning. But now I need to make two basic features to work fast and reliable.
I accidentally shutdown my machine in the middle of a recording. In the past when this happens some orphaned files were left behind and a new recording starts when the machine comes back up.
However 1.2.13 seems to clean up the orphaned files as they are all gone. I'd like to know if I can turn this feature off as I'm usually able to recover some parts of those recordings to watch.
I have my 8mm camera connected to my Hauppauge PVR 500 using composite cables. The mpeg file that I end up with is quite a bit darker than the source. When I connect the camera directly to the television, it appears normal. Any ideas?
This is an odd one - but what would be nice is the ability to have a secondary sound filter and renderer that is used during playback.
I'll just give an example of my set up to explain why.
Nvidia motherboard with on-board sound which is two devices: 1. realtek HD audio, 2. Nvidia HDMI HD Audio
I have the HDMI attached to a plasma display and the realtek attached to a receiver via SPDIF.
Since GBPVR only outputs to one audio device at a time when I watch movies in surround I want the receiver and use Nvidia audio decoder -> Realtek SPDIF to get pass through surround.
During regular TV or non-surround I switch to the HDMI via any other audio decoder.
Needless to say its a bit painful and when family/wives/girlfriends are using the application nearly impossible.
So every time I want to watch movie in full surround I have to go through the config app and change the setting. I grabbed a last graph and added an infinite tee to the sound and rendered both and voila - true passthrough surround via the SPDIF and regular PC audio through the HDMI. So the wish is a setting (probably just in the config.xml) where a secondary audio decoder and secondary renderer can be specified for use via a tee filter during playback.
I suspect this type of set up is going to become more prevalent with all the new mboards with HDMI out so it will become useful to many more users than just myself.
I am having some weird scheduling issues.
I schedule shows from the search page and they are not showing up on the TV Guide. I also can schedule a show on the guide but not a show after it?
Also I am not getting the conflict message when I schedule an overlapping show?
This all worked in 129 but not in the latest version for me?
would it be possible to program a a playlist function in the Music Library? One you can navigate with the remote of a MVP.
Just select an artist or number and press XX on the remote to add it to the playlist. In the playlist the same for removing or remove complete playlist. I think the music library would greatly improve in the WAF factor.
Weird result in attempting to use remote desktop to build graphs. I found that I was unable to get nvidia decoder working. It turned out the remote desktop connection prevented the connection of the pins between the decoder and the renderer in the graph. This also occured when GB attempted to build graphs to display video whilst connected via remote desktop.
This did not happen when I walked up to the machine and did it locally.
