I recently built a new HTPC using an Antec Veris Fusion case, equipped with the iMON 2x16 VFD display and IR reciever. I have a hauppauge PVR 150 capture card with the hauppauge remote (not the MCE remote as far as I can tell. . .) My question is: Is there a way to get the hauppauge remote working with the iMON's IR receiver, or am I stuck with using the receiver module that physically plugs into the capture card? I would like to utilize the iMON if possible, simply because it is integrated into the case, whereas the hauppauge cabling is not.

Well this is my first post here and I am new to a lot of terminology so please be gentle and assume nothing :p
What I am trying to achieve is a central media server that can stream out video content to indivdual rooms around the house. The network will be hardwired Cat5E and running from a Gigabit switch. I have already purchased a rackmount case, MSI motherboard with Intel x48 chipset, Core2 Quad 2.5GHz processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM.
What I would like to do is rip all our DVDs and hold them centrally on the server (4xSATAII HDD in RAID 5 set). I would also like to fit a TV card to serve LiveTV and act as PVR (unsure of what to buy here).
The clients are undecided but preference would be for small devices either fitted in the room or racked centrally and video / audio sent over baluns to in-wall video connectors (DVI, HDMI).
- Is what I describe above achieveable with GBPVR?
- What is the recommended client config?
- Can I use a PS3 or Xbox 360 as a client?
- What is a good TV card that supports DVB-S (Freesat in the UK)?
I don't necessarily need a list of instructions but pointers.
I wanted to see if anyone can recomend a video card to connect a PC to a TV using S-Video (or even composite) for a client machine. I have played with connecting laptops to a TV before for presentations etc and had very, very, very bad results. Any sugesstions?
I have GBPVR setup with a hdhomerun using qam from the cable and initially everything worked fine. For the last week i have one channel that will not tune in through gbpvr. I can tune this channel with vlc that came with the hdhomerun but not in gbpvr. Within gbpvr i get the no signal detected message and the quality and strength bars. The quality bar is probably around 95% and the strength 85%. When i am tuning the channel through VLC it shows the following numbers in the hdhomerun app. Signal strength 91% signal quality 96% and symbol quality 100%. This is the only channel i cannot tune in gbpvr that the hdhomerun picked up. The channel is 56-4 in the hdhomerun remapped to 80-3 (dsc). Any help is greatly appretiated and the logs are attached.
I've been experiencing pvrx2 (1.2.9) hanging intermitently during recording playback when I fast forward over an ad. So far this seems to happen at points in the recording where comskip has marked as an ad and there is a current recording in progress.
Because it doesn't happen all the time I have not been able to figure a way of repeating the problem. It seems to be happening mostly with .mpg files recorded off my PVR150 rather than my DVB-S .dvr-ms files recorded off my second tuner (HVR3000). Because they both use the same decoder (Nvidia Purevideo) for playback I don't think that is the problem. I'm using the "default" audio decoder as recommended by sub.
Windows task manager shows pvrx2 as "Not Responding" and I have to wait about a minute after selecting "End Task" before XP windows comes up with a confirmation message box.
I've looked at the pvrx2 logs and there is nothing unusual. It has my FF command and then nothing.
When I restart pvrx2, there is no "Resume" button for the recording so I presume that it has not been able to save my last watch point in the previous playback.
Has this happened to anyone else and what should I be looking for the next time this happens? What logs should I be looking at other then pvrx2 ones?
PS. Is there a faster way to kill the pvrx2 process when it hangs like this? I can't reboot because of the recording in progress.
I have now mostly got things working so that I can use GBPBR 1.2.9 with my Hauppauge HVR-900 USB tuner to record from Freeview NZ DVB-T. I had terrible problems installing under Vista Ultimate SP1 until I turned off UAC - it seems that GBPVR is not storing things in the right places for Vista (programs can not write to "\Program Files" directories with UAC on). Installing using Run as Administrator did not work as when config.exe ran as part of the install, it was not running elevated. But as soon as I turned UAC off, the install was fine, and I am happy to run that way (UAC was driving me crazy with all its popups).
I still have to get Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 to get over the audio sync problems, but I am working on that.
But I have a mystery problem that no-one else seems to be reporting that I can see. Whenever I update the EPG, all I get is listings for the current hour or maybe a little more - basically the current program and the next one. I thought that the DVB-T EPG was supposed to be covering the next 7 days. I am hoping the attached logs can shed some light - I zipped them up immediately after I ran the PVRX2 System menu option to do an EPG update, and then shut down PVRX2 again.
As I'm showing Now/Next information info in the dvbt radio plugin, it makes sense that I should show the current time on the plugin screen.
Is there a built-in way of letting the framework handle this automatically or do I have to create a 'current time' panel in the skin and write the code to manage updating it when the time changes?
Hi, this isn't actually a gbpvr/pvrx2 problem but a tv software & dodgy aerial problem.
(sub may remember I mentioned a problem with clashing with my modem before but I don't think it is that...)
At the moment I am waiting frustratedly for my landlord to do something about our tv aerial (and maybe in vain)- it seems to have got knocked out of position in some storms. This means I get a lot of loss of signal moments and when using tv software (eg gbpvr/pvr2x or other tv software -ie total media that came with my freecom usb dvbt card) my whole system gets stuck and crashes.
I was wondering if there is anything I could do so that when I lose the signal I can avoid a complete crash?
I am having some problems with remote control suddenly not working, my testing to date seems to indicate that it is something to do with UbuRecordingService.
Interestingly if I go to services and stop the UbuRecordingService then PVRx2 will ot start up! I believe this is abug and needs correcting as it also stops the PVRx2.exe log from being generated.
I decided to try out the Satellite DVB-S freeview service this weekend to see how that goes. (To see if my problematic channels under DVB-T are any better under DVB-S. And they are btw, everything works beautifully under DVB-S.)
Anyway, my question is this. Is there a way in GBPVR to tell it the two configured capture sources (DBB-T, DVB-S) are exclusive (in that they both cannot be used at the same time.)?
I thnk the HVR4000 hardware cannot have both tuners going at the same time. Whereas (in my configuration) GBPVR thinks they are independant and so the "check for conflicts" doesn't work right because it thinks there are two tuners.
