Ok, my previous thread is now resolved (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=34943)

This is what I am worried about now.

System:

GBPVR Version: stock 1.2.9 gbpv + XRecord plugin
Capture device: Hauppauge HVR-1600 (74041)
CyberLink MPEG Muxer THMpgMux(5.0.0.2022).ax

Windows XP/SP2/current (32 bit version, 2 cpus detected)....
Shuttle xpc/Glamor core2 duo 2.4ghz 64 bit cpu, 2gb ram

Intel GMA 3100 (G33) chipset 256mb ram video, DVI out to LCD 1366x768 for display

Issue:
If I map the clear QAM channels (for example fox -> 2, CBS -> 5, etc, but only those checked, all others unchecked, in the QAM source) then when viewing live TV I only see the analog channels (2, 5, etc...)

If I *also* map the same clear QAM channels to higher numbers, like 702, 705, etc.. then when I channel up to them in Live TV, the first one tunes in in beautiful high def. The next one I get audio only, no video. Changing channel to any analog station gets the video back... going "backwards" off the other end of the analogs will make that last QAM channel tune in video + audio, but going previous from there also gives me audio with no video.

In other words, using Live TV, I cannot get it to tune to two successive QAM channels for video and audio - after the first one I just get audio.

Note that I get the IDENTICAL behavior when using the channel mapping thing setting up the source. The first channel I click shows vid + audio in the preview window, every other channel I select gives me a black screen and audio only.

I'm wondering if that will be a problem when recording QAM sources back to back, and I'd really like to be able to watch Live HD - I am sure I have something set up wrong. I don't seem to be generating any log files I can find. I've attached my settings.xml file

EDIT: WinTV can change QAM channels no problem at all...

Any Ideas?

The mention of Hauppauge as a licensee of the technology might interest some of you too. Since it uses older Sigma technology then the PCH (like the SageTV extender) I am quite curious how it will compare.

I've installed v1.2.9 of GBPVR using a Hauppauge 1800 with source from a DTV STB via s-video. I've got SchedulesDirect and was able to get the channel listings.

In PVRX2, I can view the channels but when I click on 'Watch', the screen will go blank and after a couple of seconds will go back to the TV Guide.

The only video renderer for PVRX2 that seems to work for me is VMR9 Custom and Overlay Manager. 'Work for me' means I can actually launch PVRX2. Other options will give me an error message "Sorry, this system does not support the required VMR9 video renderer.'

Have to add that this is the first time I've used GBPVR or any kind of PVR software.

My graphic card is nvidia 9600GT.

i know that mvpmc defaults to look for port 9090 for slimserver.. as it is its default CLI port..
but i have ninan running on 9090, i know how to change it in slimserver, but can i set mvpmc to look on another port?

do i just add a port on the end of the dongle.bin.config line..

for instance
mvpmc -c 192.168.0.2:9091 ???

I wanted the MCE remote so I could standby/startup the PC with the remote. I will be using it with XP Pro.

I read with interest that Syabas will be implementing a native resume/bookmark function on the the NMT platform probably sooner than later.

I'm curious how many current and future users of the PCH would want to use this feature either with GB-PVR or separately (or course using files served by GB-PVR). Would it be important enough for you to add an hard drive to you PCH to get it?

I'm just brainstorming right now I don't any more than the email says, but I really doubt there will be an ability to share the database between PCH devices.

Hey everyone!

I'm working from the ground up on this, so bear with me here...

Let me start out by going over my goals. I have 2 TV's (living room / bedroom), both HD. I'm sick of not being able to archive my recordings (currently through dish Network and their STB DVR), so I've decided it was high time to build my own HTPC. Here are my goals:

• Watch different channels of live TV on both TV's simultaneously.
  
• Record one (or maybe two) shows simultaneously, while still being able to watch live tv
  
• Recording of both HD and SD programming
  
• archive recordings as necessary
  
• integrate my DVD library if possible (currently in .ISO format)
  
• integrate my audio library (currently .mp3 / .wma)
  
• spend as little as possible
  

• I want to move my "main" machine to the living room TV. Will connect via DVI-> HDMI cable. I will be using it for gaming on the TV, as well as the client for the living room.
  
• "Server class" machine will run tuners, and act as a primary server for all my media (DVD ISOs, archived TV recording, music, and pictures).
  
• Build a "client" machine for bedroom TV using PIII machine.
  
• All media will be streamed to the client machines, except HD which will have to be copied to local drives for viewing
  

• Is there a better way to set this up? I'm thinking now that I'm going to have to have something on the order of 3 or 4 cable boxes to make this work, along with 3 or 4 tuner cards. That doesn't exactly fit in with my tiny budget...
  
• Is there a good client front end for serving all of this media, including playback of .ISO DVD's? (I'm currently using XBMC via an old xbox.)
  
• About 90-95% of our current TV watching is still SD. Even though I have an HD TV in both rooms...we really only watch HD programming if it's available for a program we want to watch already (like something that's broadcast on a local channel in HD as well as SD). Would we be better off using OTA transmissions for HD (since we're not really using the HD channels), and then just getting say 2-3 SD cable boxes? If so, would we need a single dedicated card for OTA HD, and like 2 more for cable box controlled SD TV?
  
• I need card recommendations for video capture.
  
• Finally...I'm a freak about video quality / audio quality. I know that doesn't really make sense with a dot two points up, but hear me out. My TV is capable of doing 1080i. I don't have a problem watching things at 720p, and SD is fine at 480i. But I refuse to go lower then that. If I have to transcode things to lower then 480, I can't make this work. Ideally, my HD recordings will be as high quality as possible. My SD recordings should not loose quality.

My assumption is that the commercial skip software is installed automatically when you install GBpvr 1.2.9?

Am I right?

I get this error (No Tuners Availbale ) when I try to watch Live TV on my MVP. When it happens my recordings for the day fail too, its as though something happens earlier in the day which breaks the tuners and no more recording or live TV work.

My system is XP running 1.2.9. It records some shows in the early am, usually I watch some in the morining, then more shows recorded in the evening, and more watching in the evening too.

This error is happening once or twice a week and I can't recreate it, I just wait a few days and it happens.
