Some time back, blader_se set me up with access to edit the wiki but I've forgotten my password. I notice blader_se is still active here but hasn't been online for a few days.
Is there anyone who can reset my password for me? I think my wiki username was the same as my forum name.
I am thinking of getting one so it can be a file/print/gbpvr server which is always on, it looks like the thing only draws about 80W at max load!! this one runs Windows Home Server (which you have to jump through hoops to get installed). Fujitsu-Siemens released a version which is preconfigured, but it does not appear to be available in the US. and they are also selling a SS4200-E version which comes with a version of Linux on it from EMC (which I would buy, if I didnt want to run GB-PVR).
you guys think its got the power to run a GB-PVR server (possibly with a HD-PVR)?
I have a question for PCH users.....My PCH's front panel is all black...no writing on it at all.
There are 2 USB plugs on the left hand side of the front. To the right of the USB connections there is a cut-out area....about 2 inches long and 3/4 inches high.....where there are 2 lights....one green (turns orange when I reboot) and a red light the blinks periodically for no apparent reason. Lots of open space around the lights.....you can actually see the component board.
When I was over on the NMT site I stumbled into their picture gallery....on the pictures (example) on their site the front panel on the pictures looks different than mine....so I am just wondering how many people have the plane-jane front that I have and how many have the more finished front shown in the picutures on the NMT site.
I'm getting an 'Attempted to read or write protected memory' error when scanning DVB-S channels.
I've done a clean XP pro install, just the hauppauge drivers and XP hotfix (not Powercinema) and using the DVR-MS mux with FFDSHOW tryouts 1943 for the audio and video decoders.
No plugins installed, no other TV cards and the DVB-S scan is the first capture source entered.
I'm able to get the first 1 or 2 channels (out of 95 for astra 2A,2B,2D) and see a preview in the preview window before it crashes.
I'm using LNB settings LOF1:9750 Switch:11700 LOF2:10600, powered LNB and no DiSEqC.
I've attached logs and error of the original installation, and with NativeUtilities patched from the v1.2.9 sticky thread, neither seem to work - I can crash the scan every time!
I've managed to get the card working before on v0.98, but since having upgraded my computer last week, this has been happening on the DVB-S. DVB-T works fine.
If anyone has any ideas i'd appreciate them!
So, my wife calls me and tells me that the system is going haywire. As soon as you start up gbpvr it goes to the tv guide and starts to actually move thru the selections by itself. I thought no way. But when I connected to it remotely it seems to be stuck going into the tv guide section and wont' allow you to go anywhere else. I can esc back out to the main menu and maybe change a selection but it will immediately go back to the guide. I had a keyboard attached sitting in the back of the entertainment center so I thought there might be something hitting the F1 key but after disconnecting the keyboard and restarting the system it goes right back to the tv guide. I've disabled the remote reciever software so I don't think it can be receiving commands from the remote. The pinnecle media center that came with my usb tuner keept starting up by itself as well so I uninstalled it and PVRX2 still keeps going directly to tv guide. This has me all wigged out and stumped.
After starting the manager, press the "Use Taskbar Scheduler". Don't enter data, just press the "Run Manually"
radiobutton and the error shows up, and the application exits.
Following starts of the manager fail because it seem to pickup the "Use Taskbar Scheduler" setting and runs into the 429 error again.
removing the registry entries and start again solves the issue.
Hey guys, bit of a dumb question but I was hoping someone could help clear this up for me. If I posted this in the wrong spot please let me know and sorry in advance.
Can someone please explain to me the differences between analog tuners, digital tuners, and dvb-t? I know the basics, but what I don't understand is how to tell which I can use?
For example, I have digital cable, but my gbpvr box currently uses a PVR150, which is an analog tuner/capture card. Since my tv is a regular old tube tv and the line coming out of my cable box is a regular old coax cable, does that mean I can ONLY use an analog tuner?
Here's why I ask: I currently have a 2.8ghz gbpvr box with a PVR150 (1gig of ram, 500gb drive, etc) hooked up to my bedroom tv and that works great. I added a MediaMVP in the family room for the rest of the family but the picture is so dark that on some shows it's close to unwatchable. I'm considering trying to turn a low power thin client (one of those via motherboards) into a gbpvr box for the family room. It's a 1ghz machine with 512mb ram. It's got a single PCI slot and room to add a 2.5 inch laptop drive. I've been told this is most likely enough to do simple recording and then playback,which is all I really want to do with it. The only concern I have (and other people felt the same when I posted this here a few weeks back), was that the via video chipset was not powerful enough to do the overlays and such. With only 1 PCI slot I figured I can either put a PVR150 or a better video card. If I go with a USB (or PCMCIA?) tuner/capture card I can use the PCMCIA slot for a video card strong enough to do the graphics work and take the load off the 1ghz CPU. The problem is finding a USB tuner that is small, compatible with GBPVR, and will work with my cable setup. Everything is listed now as digital so I'm confused as to what I can/can't use. I know I don't have HD, so that's not a concern, but will a digital and/or HD USB capture device be able to handle the signal my cable box is putting out?
I'd really like to use a usb device that I don't need a second power plug for, which is why the stick (or PCMCIA if any of those are compatible) are so tempting.
Can someone please help explain this to me and maybe suggest a capture device?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but after a while of searching and playing around I've not found the answer... I've recently bitten the bullet and rebuilt my PVR to have an AMD/ATI 780G mb with HD3200 built in, 45w AMD dual core CPU and it's running Vista64. Everything installed fine (easier than when I installed on vista32). Everything is working really well (at 720p - I'm having massive interlace issues at 1080p60 - and I cant work out how to get it to do 1080p50) except HD recording playback (from .ts files). Using the internal TS splitter I get picture (jerky every 5 seconds or so) and no sound regardless of what audio codec I use (I've tried Cyberlink and AC3Filter - via the SPDIF optical to a receiver). I cant get the Haali Splitter to work on Vista64 - running the "vista codec pack" and the "vista64 codec pack" from Shark007 I can get the .ts files to play very badly in media player, but in GBPVR I get a blank screen - and perfect sound. Any ideas??
I'm testing the ATI 650 PCIe card for Microsoft and already have been using the HVR-1600 but am having some difficulty with these 2 together and am not sure if there is a conflict. I've decided to take QAM out the picture since my cable company admits they change often and may even no longer offer them soon but, when both cards are used I can't seem to get an OTA channels. I can see Live TV start but there is no picture or sound and the tuner status does show the correct tuner being used. I can record those channels, just not see them live.
The ATI ATSC tuner doesn't work at all but I've not spent too much time toying with it yet but the analog side works fine.
Finally, it could simply be signal loss due to the splitter but using WinTV for the HVR1600 shows a nice signal.
Is there possibly a limit to ATSC tuners being used in GBPVR? FWIW, I'm not as happy with the ATI 650 as I am with the HVR1600 if anyone cares about my opinion.
