I am using the GB-PVR (PVRX2) software with a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD stick and a 20" Samsung 16:10 LCD monitor set to 1680x1050 resolution but the PVRX2 refuses to display 16:9 or 4:3 material correctly because it assumes that my monitor aspect ratio is 16:9 when in fact it is 16:10 and uses square pixels as are most widescreen monitors, and therefore narrows the TV image assuming the monitor will stretch it, which it won't do because it uses square pixels.
Can this problem be fixed so that programmes display with the correct aspect ratio of 16:9 or 4:3 on 16:10 monitors which use square pixels?
I have a myHD card that records (.tp ext) OTA HD. In 115, the files played great after I added the .tp ext into the config. In 129, the files stutter randomly every 10 to thirty seconds and the audio is off. If I restart the hd file, the sound is in sync again, but only for a few seconds before the audio and video drift apart again. I have tried system default and Cyberlink codec's in 264 playback options, but the problem persists. In 115, PVRX2 used Purevideo. I edited the config to list Purevideo in the 264 codec box, but that didn't fix it.
Everything else with 129 works great. Is there a fix or do I revert to 115 for the time being? Thanks.
I have both analog and digital tuners currently. I have record duplicates set to yes on several programs. When CDK schedules these it records the same content on both the analog and digital channels. I don't want to hard code to specific tuners or channels because that messes up the priority recordings.
Does the MVPMCX2 work with both the MVP and the Popcorn Hour device. I ordered the Popcorn hour a couple of weeks ago and am waiting on delivery. Could I get a head start on setting it up by using MVPMCX2 now while I only have a MVP?

Trying to decide which capture card/cards to go with. Ultimately, will want to record at least 2 channels at once.
Should I get 2x Hauppage PRV 150's ?
Or 1 Hauppage HVR1600? It has dual tuners... does that mean the one card could record 2 shows at once? Or does that work out to only being able to record 1 QAM and 1 ATSC at the same time.. So 2 would still be required? HD is most prefered
I've been reading for 3 days now and still soooo many questions for the newbie in HTPC world.
A little research for a project we are starting. What is the most common flavor of scart? It seems like there are at least three different pinouts that are supported + some people are putting ypbpr on the scart connector as well.

Sorry for the confusing title but I came up with nothing better. I have managed to set up my PCH as you have described. I get the GB-PVR menu and I can move around. I have also been able to play some recorded shows and one or two avis. However, most of the times I try to play avis the screen "popcorn buffering" appears for a short while but then goes back to PCH menu. Weird enough, the sound of the movie continues to play. Other times the PCH just restarts.
Trying to go back to mvpmc and start telnet, I get the message "mkdir: Cannot create directory" and I have to restart my PCH. I have looked through the logs but am not sure what to look for.
Please advise what additional information you need.
Was running v1.0.16 for many many months without any problems. Probably the most stable version I've ever run. :-) MVP would never spontaneously reboot, recordings would always happen.
But then I upgraded to v1.2.9 last week. And the problems started.
MVP hangs/reboots in the middle of shows.
Recordings abort part way through so that I only have partial episodes.
Some new recordings consistently cause the MVP to crash when I try to view them.
It's hockey playoffs, and I can't risk any more lost shows.
What's the "cleanest" way to roll back to the previous version? I still have the old installer, plus I made a zip of the /gbpvr directory before I upgraded.
Will a restore of the old /gbpvr directory do the trick? Or do I need to run the installers/uninstallers?

is there a way to delete the original once it has finished and have PVRX2 point to the new file with descriptions right after encoding is done?

hey can cpu priority to be lowered? and is there a way to auto start the que when a recording is done even on dual tuner recordings?
Just got my first htpc setup finished, using a hauppauge pvr-150 card.
Most things seem to work fine, except for LiveTV.
The hauppauge app WinTV works fine.
I grabbed the NLGrabXMLTV and loaded the xml file it generated. The EPG works now too.
However, when i go to LiveTV i get no image (only snow, so to speak).
