Excuse my ignorance, could somebody please enlighten me on what the Acronyms "PCH" and "NMT" mean and why so many folks have discussed how they are on a waiting list for "PCH" and what that means?
I used Skip Tool to edit a bunch of movies I recorded off cable. I'm getting the hang of it, and it works great.
I transcoded them using the default settings, no changes. I can play the files in VLC with no problem, but when I view them through Movie Wiz, I get sound but just a black screen. (I do see the ff/rw buttons and time bar OSD.)
The sound sounds like it cut out the commercials correctly. What am I missing?
I haven't tried playing through regular Video yet. I can tomorrow.
I thought it was a SchedulesDirect issue, but when I checked the xml file it looked like it had show information for at least some of the slots that have "no show details".
This just showed up today - it seems like almost have the stations have no program listings at all.
Hi there, 1st new thread for me.
I would love to see a patch for live DVB-T audio stream to be decoded by PDVD Version 8. I'm one of the few who seem to have trouble with the audio quality on live TV (Auck NZ) using monogram V3, occasional pops & dropouts etc. The patch written to use PDVD8 for recorded programs seems to have got some great results. I gotta say this is the one issue holding me back from total family acceptance of our shiny new & expensive HTPC, & I would be more than happy to pay for an upgrade to PDVD8 and chip in to the GBPVD fund as well if this solution got me a solid DVB-T PVR solution.
I'm picking that it's possible for rad to release another version of monogram (which a lot of people seem to be having great success with) and that might answer some issues as well, it's great to have had that piece of software available.
I don't know how tricky this to do, and also acknowledge that it's only a small subset of your user base that would be affected - it's just a thought.

Just to clarify from a previous post a while ago, do we need to start the telnetd for the mvpmcx2 to work? Previous post said no, but I've seen posts that say things don't work unless you do start it.
Is there any way to switch audio stream in gbpvr in TS mux mode?
I've tried ^G and Morgan Stream Selecter filter but no luck.
I'm using the latest gbpvr v1.2.9 with client/server (file sharing) on TS mux mode. (I use TS mux as it gives me smooth video comparing to MSDVR-MS or Cyberlink Mux).
It works fine for some channels but no sound on channels with AC3.
I did the record to .ts file and played it using VLC player. I found out the it has 2 audio streams and the first track does not have sound. The 2nd track is fine. So gvpvr playback is using the 1st audio track so it has no sound.
Further tests on channels without AC3. I found out that they also have two audio tracks, but 1st track has sound so gbpvr works fine.
FYI, I have the KWORLD ATSC 330U ASTC/NTSC USB Tuner with BDA driver.
I got info from graphedit and added entry to bda.ini:

I have to add channels manually from SCAN-1.cache after scan.
Here are some entries from SCAN-1.cache:

All three channels have perfect video, but last one with AC3 has no sound in gbpvr as its first audio track has no sound. If I use Cyberlink mux then all three have sound, but video is jagging. Also in client/server mode, cyberlink *.mpg file keeps growing very big while client is watching.
MS DVR-MS Mux does not work for me on client/server mode.
TS Mux only works in file sharing mode and not streaming mode.
Cyberlink mux works bad in file sharing mode but works in streaming mode.
Well, I followed the instructions, patched the 2 files and am really close. Thanks for the instructions that got me this far. So I have one last step, to get gbpvr appearing. When I select GBPVR on the html page, it goes black, flickers a few times then I get the PHC logo, then it goes back to the media source page.
Below is the section I added to the config.xml. It's the same as the instructions except for the MAC address. Is this correct for an NTCS 4x3 SD television?
I've started working with trimming recordings and burning them to DVD, and find it so much easier to use a separate piece of software and my main computer, but moving files over from the PVR computer was certainly slow. For a typical 2GB file ( one hour of medium quality SD) it was taking Windows seven full minutes.
So I started looking into adding gigabit NICs to both machines and connected them through a gigabit switch. Now I'm usually one of the most frugal people when it comes to buying computer gear (my main computer is a five year old system running an Athlon XP 2400+), but a common theme to the stories I was seeing is that gigabit hardware is not necessarily the place to be shaving pennies. If you want it to work right out of the box, and to keep working, don't buy off-brand or bargain basement NICs and switches.
Office Depot ran the D-Link DGS-2205 switch in their ad this week for $30, and D-Link themselves has a $10 rebate through the end of the month, so I couldn't resist. I'm skirting the limits of my own rules about not buying cheap equipment (I've been involved with lots of D-Link routers arriving or going bad in the last few years, so they aren't my favorite brand these days), but since it's generally reviewed well, I went with it.
For NICs, I went with what seems to be the safest bet for all around compatibility and reliability and bought Intel. I found the PCI PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter (PWLA8391GTBLK) at Newegg.com in an OEM version for only $26.19 each (sorry, the price is back up to $28.19) and free shipping.
All together, I've got the two computers lashed together at high speed for less than $80. And just how much performance did I get for that price? What used to take Windows seven minutes to do now takes...60 seconds! Hell, I might just start doing regular backups of my main computer (to the PVR).
I carry out a lot of "maintenance, updates, testing" of my GBPVR server over UVNC from my work PC and recently made my server headless at home (PC in my sig was my main PC+GBPVR Server).
I can run GBPVR.exe in a window over UVNC to test stuff, and the UI is relatively snappy and I can see the UI updates all the time as I key up/ down the menu, even with two PVRX2exe MVP Servers started.
However with PVRX2.exe, even in Overlay or VMR9 modes and even in a small window from within my local wired network, the screen comes up and just seems to really struggle with updating the UI at all, I just can't see the UI for the lines over it and it doesn't refresh when I try to scroll the menu, even though I know it's moved. I even tried VMR9 FSE, no go.
I tested the Server directly on the TV via the PC connection and that works fine, so it's definitely something to do with remoting/PVRX2.
Is PVRX2 so much more intensive that it just doesn't cut it and will a faster server make a real difference? I don't get why, if it's just the UI. CPU is just 9%. Could it be UVNC (but then why does GPVR.exe work fine with UVNC)?
For some reason my PVRX2 installation will no longer play DVDs (isos or real dvds.) All I could find out from scanning the logs is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I can play a DVD from media player classic as well as WMP, so I'm pretty sure its not a driver/filter issue?? I dont know if it has something to do with me updating to 1.2.9.....
