I have not been able to use the Media MVP with GBPVR with any of the 1.xx releases. It comes up ok, but if I try to play any video the screen goes blank and I have turn off the MVP to get out. Back does not work. The only way I have found to get this working is in uinstal GBPVR reinstall release .99 .
Something else that is happening, may be related, I don't Know. I cannot use PVRX2 on my system. I guess that my video card on my computer is not good enough. So I have to use the GBPVR on my computer, which works fine. Would this have any affect on the MVP not playing video?
Any help would would be appreciated.
my system is a Athalon XP 1.25 GHz, 512 MB, WIN XP, NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Pro, Hauppague wintv pvr 150.
Thought it time to give something back. I seem to collect MVP dongles either based on suggestions from posts or rename existing ones as backups before upgrading gbpvr.
Either way, it is easy to lose track, convince yourself that dongle.good.bin is better than dongle.bin when they are in fact the same ( some different versions do have the same size ) and posting dongle related queries is complicated by not knowing _which_ dongle inspired the query.
Anywho, I wrote a simple utility, donglever, which lists the dongles in the Dongle directory together with their version.
You can download and save the utility either to the "gbpvr" or the "gbpvr\Dongle" directory and just double-click or run from the command line.
You can save it to a different location but in that case you have to pass the path to the "gbpvr" directory as the argument. Note the path will need to be in double quotes if it contains spaces.
Then just match the output from donglever with the dongle filename specified in the MVP tab of the gbpvr Config app ensuring, as documented elsewhere, that the MVP is using the specified dongle by power-cycling it.
Sub: Please reply if posting an external link to a binary is bad forum etiquette? I could instead zip it and upload or have it wiki'd somewhere. However, zipping an exe seems to go against the sprit of the "Valid file extensions" listed for attachments.
Martin V: Not sure if or how you want your mvpmc versions presented?
I recently purchased a brand new computer equipped with an ASUS M3A78-EMH with HDMI support. I was happy about the low price and the ability to watch HD quality with my Toshiba 42C3500PG LCD.
So after installing Vista Ultimate with the proper drivers I tried to setup the HDMI display. At first it took me about two days to realize that I need to change the jumper on the mobo from DVI to HDMI (who thought of that over there at ASUS?) and also changed the settings in the BIOS (two in particular).
After that when I turned ATI Catalyst on I noticed that it suddenly recognized my TV as "TOSHIBA-TV", hooray. However after trying, I believe, all the available options there I couldn't get a picture on my TV. It's worth mentioning that during the whole time I also had a VGA monitor connected to the computer.
Could someone, for the love of god, tell me what I'm doing wrong?
i am using xmltv together with tvmovie clickfinder and the converter from Wolfgang Schneider - all working fine, but today I recognized that all entries are time-shifted by one hour - I am quite sure this is because of the daylight saving time!
The correct this, I dropped the EPG database and run an full update - everything ok! Is this a bug within xmltv, the tvmovie to xml converter or within gbpvr? Any ideas - just to "assign" this bug to the correct person!
I recently did a complete re-install (OS and everything) on my primary GBPVR server & since then I am unable to stream recordings (or live tv) outside of my LAN.
I haven't touched the configuration on my router, so nothing has changed there. I have my server set up with the same static IP as before, so the problem doesn't lie there.
I've tried from multiple friends houses, but in each case WMP sits at "connecting..."
Streaming works fine on other PC's on my LAN, just not outside. Any ideas as to what I'm missing? I had it working before, but must have forgot a step when setting it up again.
Step 3. the batch will loop through each file in the queue and process it;
Code:
cd "%_mplayerpath%"
copy "%_quepath%transcode.txt" "%_quepath%transcode.tmp"
for /f "delims==" %%a in ('type ^"%_quepath%transcode.tmp^"') do call :process %%a
del "%_quepath%transcode.tmp"
goto :eof
Step 4 - check to see if the in or out files exist
Step 5. - determine the crop size and scale size. First get the length and divide by 20. Then using mencoder, step through first frame of each of the 20 blocks to determine the optimum crop size. The scale size auomatically determined to be aspect and divisible by 16. This is what the :-10 does.
Code:
:identifyit
"%_mplayerpath%mplayer.exe" "%~1" -msglevel all=0:identify=6 -vo null -frames 1 > "%_logpath%%~n1.info"
FOR %%p in ("ID_") DO (
FOR /f "usebackq tokens=1*" %%g in (`findstr %%p "%_logpath%%~n1.info"`) DO SET "%%g %%h"
)
@echo %date% %time% "MESSAGE:length is %ID_LENGTH%" >> "%_logpath%transcode.log"
set /A _showlength=%ID_LENGTH%
set /A _steps=_showlength / 20
"%_mplayerpath%mplayer.exe" "%~1" -vf cropdetect -nosound -vo null -frames 20 -sstep %_steps% > "%_logpath%%~n1.crop"
FOR /f "usebackq tokens=5-8 delims==:^)" %%g in (`find ^"[CROP]^" ^"%_logpath%%~n1.crop^"`) DO (
(set _cx=%%g:%%h:%%i:%%j)
(set _sx=%%g)
)
(set _crop=%_cx%)
(set _scale=%_sx%:-10)
Step 6. then run mencoder to transcode/process the files
Step 7. if success, change the file name and delete the original; note the xml is about keeping the xml file stuff which is stored as a seperate stream by GB
Code:
:success
@echo %date% %time% "MESSAGE:transcode OK" >> "%_logpath%transcode.log"
more < "%~1:metadata.xml" > "%~dpn1_new.avi:metadata.xml"
move "%~dpn1_new.avi" "%~dpn1.avi"
del "%~1"
goto :cleanup
Step 8.
if transcode failed, just cleanup
Step 9. cleanup. remove the just processed file name from the queue file and delete temporary files.
Code:
:cleanup
@echo %date% %time% "MESSAGE:doing cleanup" >> "%_logpath%transcode.log"
find /v "%~1" < "%_quepath%transcode.txt" > "%_quepath%transcode.new"
del /q "%_quepath%transcode.txt"
move "%_quepath%transcode.new" "%_quepath%transcode.txt"
del /q "%~dpn1_new.avi"
del /q "%_logpath%%~n1.crop"
del /q "%_logpath%%~n1.info"
goto :eof
Does anyone having any further suggestions for improving it. Remember this is intended as strictly simplistic. Anything more complex, will defeat what I am trying to achieve,
Things I would like to do next:
- before processing, check if another instance of the batch is running and if so, abort.
- avoid scaling during transcoding, this should be done during decoding but most decoders dont seem do this properly with AVI files. I have tried using autoaspect parameter in mencoder but not sure if it is working?
Notes; what I like about this is;
if the transcoding fails it skips over it, and does not reattempt it.
If the transcoding is interupted (say a reboot), it will start again for that file to be processed.
It only deletes the file after the transcoding has been completed.
here is more feedbacks about gbpvr on PCH (last time was on the NMT Forums)
My GBPVR-MVPMCX2 is up to date (29-03-2008).
The good news :
- The music is working perfectly (no more problem with the play all function).
- The net radio is working too (don't know what happen last time).
- The weather plugin is ok.
- TV Guide is ok
The bad news :
1) Live TV is not functionnal, going back to the GBPVR Menu. (It's working on the PC)
2) Some video are not playing, going back to the GBPVR Menu. (It's working directly on the PCH).
3) Some video have no sound. (It's working directly on the PCH).
4) Some video lost and get back the TV synchro every synchro :eek:. (It's working directly on the PCH).
Here is the logs files (debug level) where the 4 problems have been reproduced sequentially.
(Problem 2 : filename is l'invite.avi, problem 3 : filename is Cabaret Paradis, problem 4 : filename is Dany Boon - Waika)
When I watch ITV4 it plays for about 10s then crashes PVRX2 with an exception. I'm then left with the recording service thinking ITV4 is being watch - as is the case whenever any crash occurs.
I can watch other channels fine and this is only when watching from the satellite - I guess the signal is not so good (as somethimes I get the signal strength dialog at the same time) but it shouldn't bomb out.
For now I've disabled ITV4 on the satellite so it's not critical.
Does the range on this blaster suck, or is it my imagination. I haven't moved my gbpvr boxes out of bench testing and into production (so to speak) yet. I am currently using a spare STB and I had to actually tape the blaster to the receiver eye in the STB. I really can't afford to do that on the production setup because it will block my real remote's functioning.
Are there any tips to get this thing running better?
