I have several case fans, a chip fan and still, it runs hot. It doesn't help that it sits in an enclosed area. (Can't help that at the moment.) I'd love to get some thoughts on cooling.
I have a computer somewhat lacking in performance running GBPVR in client mode over a wireless network. Overall the performance is pretty good, but I get some stuttering from time to time. Lately it seems to be getting worse.
The symptoms are strange and I haven't been able to pin down the problem. It will play a recording fine, stutter and stop for a second, then play fine, then stutter some more, then it may play fine for the rest of the video. It might stutter the entire time and make it practically unwatchable. It may pause for a few seconds (not quite sure if I would call this a stutter), then stutter, then play fine. Or, strangely enough, it might never have any problems and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Either way, you get the picture.
I can't really get a handle on whether this is a network problem, or a system performance problem. The problems are so inconsistent and fleeting for me to get a chance to trouble shoot it. Worse yet, I really can't reproduce the problem reliably. This leads me to think its associated with the wireless network. Other times, however, i get the impression that the network is fine and the computer is too slow. The lack of information seems to annoy me more than the actual problem does!
Do any of you maybe recognize this problem off-hand? Does anyone have some pointers on how I can track down the real cause and take it from there. The two solutions would either be optimize the settings on my system to compensate for a slow computer or run some CAT5 to compensate for a bad wireless signal. Some help would be much appreciated.
I have a problem watching LiveTV and recording shows using gbpvr version 1.1.5. LiveTV will only show static when I try to use it. When I record a show, gbpvr will only record static also. However, I can hear the tv show playing. I have a Motorola stb connected to a Hauppauge PVR-150 through s-video.
The weird part is I can get LiveTV to show correctly if I use WinTV first. Once the video show up in WinTV, I can then close WinTV, open GBPVR, and then everything works like is suppose to. I also can record tv shows without any problem after opening WinTV.
Do anyone knows what could be my problem? This happen when I use either PVRx2.exe or gbpvr.exe.
I've a couple of problems related to Audio, that may not be EWA's fault but i'd thought i'd start here. I'm using the web interface to stream TV but i cant get it to select the English audio track when viewing German Premiere channels, it's just streaming the default German audio. I'm trying to play around with VLC options which i thought i got working before with my Skystar2 card a while back. Is there any way to select the audio track to stream.
I've got an HV-1600. It works great on the analog side & actually fairly good on the digital side.
My main problem with OTA is that my stations are S, SW, & SE of me.
I bought a $30 apmlified antenna & that works great if I aim it.
I can always get the S stations, but can only get SW or SE with it.
It's not an ideal setup for recording HD & digital TV.
I'm thinking of building two homemade DB2 antennas & point one SE & one SW in the attic & leave the amplified on the TV facing south & tieing them all together to cover all the directions.
I've got all the material to build the cheapie antennas so i'm leaning that way instead of a big antenna on my roof.
But, I don't know if the amp on the one antenna will cause problems with the signal coming off the other two.
I'm trying to update my epg using the MCE2xml plugin but I'm getting an error in my logs that state that the database is locked. What is it that I need to do for that?
Not sure whether to put this here or in the main support thread but here goes.
Updated to v1.2.9. and have been testing the system since. I have noticed that whenever I try to access the Web Interface everthing grinds to a halt. Have looked through the logs and have spotted this in the GBPVRRecordingService log:

Any ideas what might be causing this? I do not have the "Enable NMT Client streaming extensions" enabled & I have tried moving ports. I cannot find anything else in NETSTAT trying to use the port and have disabled all non-essential applications. Please find the full logs attached if its any help.
