There is something in the GBPVR tray causing a lockup. I have had a glitch for over half a year (including the newest release), but lived with it. My glitch wouldn't let windows XP shut down in a timely manner. It was as if windows XP was not able to close a program. It turns out, the program it couldn't shut down was the recording service. It wasn't the recording service that was causing the problem though. When I removed the GBPVR tray from operation, it had no problem at all. I wouldn't have noticed this problem if I hadn't made some changes to my system, ie added a high def tv which wasn't properly supported in my video card until I upgraded the driver. I could run recorded shows and even high def 720 video without a hesitation, but when I exited the GBPVR program, the explorer service went to 100%. When GBPVR wasn't even running, I couldn't stop the recording service to see if that was a problem. After I removed the GBPVR tray from the start menu and restarted the computer, I had no more problems and could easily play files with GBPVR, exit the program and then easily stop the recording service. I could even shut down the computer in a timely manner, which I hadn't been able to do in a long time.
I don't know what the exact problem in GBPVR tray or something conflicting with it was, but it works now. I thought I'd share my experience. It may help someone else.
Just a note. I have another computer that has the GBPVR tray running, that doesn't have a problem at all.
When I'm watching a DVD on PVRX2 and push menu, the screen goes black around the video window when the size of the playback window does gets smaller. If I push menu again, the program crashes and I'm prompted with the error reporting window.
This happens when I use both types of VMR9 (custom and can't remember the other choice).
I can only select one file to transcode and it won't let me add more/...
I need to find a way to pick more files to add to the que so I can forget about it knowing it will convert the next one in line.
I don't want to try the auto convert all new recordings as I record movies at high quality I just want to pick shows that I would delete later but want to watch sometime so I need to compress to divx so I can watch at a later time....
If there is no que built in to gbpvr then is there a way I can manually put the files I want into a directory (c:\convert\) and have a batch file or something to click on that will process the mpegs using the above divx profile?
I have two HVR-1600 tuner cards. I originally hooked them up to my QAM cable line, but despite what appeared to be decent signal strength, I constantly had problems with glitches, lockups, and crashes.
So, I bought a Philips Indoor HDTV antenna and switched the tuners to the antenna. Better, but still lots of glitchy recordings.
Next, I upgraded to a Channel Master 4221 antenna to replace the desktop antenna. Signal strength is "slightly" higher, but the recordings still skip and stutter a lot.
So, I bought a 10db amplifier to boost the signal. It helps, but the signal strength really isn't much higher than without it. "Most" of my recordings turn out nicely, but every now and then the signal level drops slightly or other interference causes the signal to be all glitchy.
I should point out that I live up on a mountain, only 20 miles from the broadcast antennas, which are all in the same direction. With the antenna and booster amp, the Haupauge Signal Meter usually shows a SNR of 22-25. It was 20-23 without the amp, and around 25-30 on cable. Ironically, cable had the strongest signal, but produced the worst recordings.
My Samsung TV has ZERO problems tuning either the cable or antenna signals, so the tuners in the HVR-1600 are obviously not good at coping with weak signals.
I've thought about getting a stronger amplifier (or adding a second one?), but the current amp doesn't seem to make a lot of difference in the signal strength or the quality of the recordings.
So, I'm curious if there are tuners that work better with weak signals than the HVR-1600? At this point, I think I would prefer a USB tuner so I can try it out without opening up my system again. Of course, it would need to be compatible with GBPVR. I had tried the silicon dust tuner once, but couldn't get it to work at all with my system.
I am looking into purchasing a domain name through either GoDaddy or a competitor. I am currently using the free service provided by No-IP.com and it has been working great; hopefully someone here will be familiar with this service. I do not want to host a website on any outside server. The purpose for the domain name, in my case, is for me to personally login through Remote Desktop Connection and to direct people to my FTP site. When I do have a website up, I host it through IIS on my own box.
I've been using No-IP.com's free service for 3 or 4 years now, and maybe I should upgrade there since I know the service, but GoDaddy is cheaper and cheaper is better for me right now if GoDaddy's service can provide the same.
Just looking for anyones 2 cents that might be doing the same thing as me.
Weird problem after installing 1.1.5. PVRX2 seems to be confused about my VMR9 status. I have both PVRX2 and GBPVR set to use VMR9 Custom. GBPVR executes fine but PVRX2 fails with this log message:
Quote:Shutting down due to error (probably no VMR9 support): System.TypeLoadException: Method 'IsPlayingTV' in type 'GBPVRX2.xdd215986d9a64c86' from assembly 'PVRX2, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' does not have an implementation.

(Full logs for both PVRX@ and GBPVR are attached).
Both PVRX2 and GBPVR worked fine using VMR9 with v1.0.16.
Just got my MVP ex ebay, where do I start with gbpvr, so many versions seem available, am in uk if that helps. Can someone suggest what to download please.
Finally upgraded from 99.12 to 1.1.5 and trying to get xrecord to work. An old version was working fine/showing up but I can't seem to get the new version of xrecord to show up on the menus. Install appears to go fine and the plugin is configured but no worky. I've tried moving it to legacy without luck. Everything else works fine. Any ideas?
when it rains quite heavily, my dvb-t signal is weakened (which i plan on getting sorted - cable problem) but this hangs PVRX2 so badly that i cannot do anything!
i get the signal message on screen and the o/s is running but nothing works - even ctrl-alt-del, alt-enter, alt-esc etc etc. (am using FSE).
i can still access the pc remotely and have zipped the logs - i can force the pc to standby, but when it comes back, no difference.
attached logs (couldn't see anything of any note) - appreciate any help (even if i get signal sorted, there's bound to be a time when the signal is weakened by something...)
thanks for any help..
(remotely killed the pvrx2 process and windows seems good - nothing of any not in event logs)
