Well due to my inquisitive nature i keep trying different things with my setup and of course it seems that i break things when i do this. I have however learned a few things by doing this and asking questions here. So here we go again with a previous problem but i would like to take a different look at it. If i use the default version of ffmpeg i can play avi files with no problem. I can not however play ape files nor can i play flac by changing the extension to fla. If i use the latest version of ffmpeg (actually i have tried about 20 different versions) I can play the ape files and the flac files by changing the extension to fla. I can not however get any sound at all from the avi files. I solved this problem before by installing zprocess as suggested by zhed. I have tried that again and this time it wont play at all with zprocess installed. I am not certain but i believe it is because it wont save the path to mencoder. It is set by default to go to the mplayer folder but when i try to add the mencoder in the path it wont keep the setting. So..i would like to see if anyone might know these two things... why do i not have sound with the newer version of ffmepg and is there a way to fix this? Any ideas on why the path is not saved in zprocess or possibly another solution as to why it wont play at all?? It doesnt freeze or reboot it just sits there. Thanks in advance for any help with these problems.
hi!!! i have installed two hauppauge HVR4000 cards in the same computer, i dont use them to watch live TV, i use them just only to record some programs in different channels, but sometimes a problem happens, one of the cards blocks and doesnt stop recording, its programmed correctly to stop at any hour but 5 hours later it has not stopped yet, during this time the other card its not able to start recording at its programmed time, the computer its not blocked just only GBpvr its blocked but i have to restart my computer to stop the card recording...
do you have any idea what to do??
thank you!!!!
Figured I'd toss this out there since Movie Wizard has been out for awhile, but it was only recently I found out buried in a thread that it can launch external video players. Movie Wiz can do other cool stuff, too, but I don't think there's been a workable plugin for external players since PVRx2 came out, so I thought it deserved its own headline.
Besides other uses for external players, the true greatness comes from PowerDVD doing what I know of no other player being able to do: play video smoothly in fast-forward with audio. This is the only reason I keep PowerDVD around anymore.
My generic MCE remote showed up today. Installed HIP and got the main GBPVR functions working. I can't get the remote to use the PowerDVD speed control with one button, but one button on my remote does bring up the PowerDVD menu window which lets me choose the fast-forward speed with the arrow and enter buttons, so that's not bad for now.
Last week, I was able to play XviD files through my MVP. They were working great, no issues whatsoever. Now, all of a sudden, all I get is the audio and a blank screen. I've tried rebooting everything, and tried on two different TVs. I can play mpg files just fine. I assume this must be something related to the on-the-fly transcoding. But only the video seems to be affected. Anyone have any ideas? I have attached my logs.
Hi guys, I have just finished building a GBPVR system for my brother, using PVRX2.
It's all working great, except one small problem.
When watching Live TV or videos (xvid, etc), everything is perfect.
When I press record, the playback becomes very stuttery (like 1 or 2 frame a second) but the audio remains perfect.
When I watch the recording after it has completed, it is also suffering from the same stuttery playback.
I'm guessing it is to do with the video decoder, but I have tried several and they all give the exact same performance (well some are worse and also stutter during live TV).
I am using an ASUS M2A-VM motherboard with onboard X1250 video card.
AMD Athlon X2 6000+
1GB DDR2-800 RAM
Same spec system works fine with other media center applications (MCE and Media Portal, which I am using for my media center - will be swapping to GBPVR as soon as I get my brother's one sorted).
I used an xml file for the EPG in the setup, but when i try to map the digital channels, it gives me: "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application..."
Under that it says: "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.
Today I'm officially taking off from my memory management investigations. I need to catch up on some sleep.
But I'd like to toss some comments out there to get a feel if what I'm seeing is normal and can be ignored, or a cause for concern.
sub: I'm seeing several (and by 'several' I mean 'tens of thousands') undisposed instances of System.Windows.Forms.WindowsFormSynchronizationContext objects. About 60 a second. They are being destroyed and collected in gc0, but are ending up in the "undisposed" column. They don't seem to be taking up much space, but there sure is an awful lot of them! Is this normal?
Anybody: There are a number of bitmaps and associated graphics objects (System.Drawing.Bitmap, .Graphics, and .StringFormat most notably) that are also ending up as undisposed. Undisposed bitmaps goes up sharply if I wiggle the mouse around while a popup is active. The same behaviour does not occur if there is no popup going. There is an increase in Private Bytes associated with this wiggling, although it's difficult to get a precise handle on how many. Call it, roughly, 150,000 bytes per two second wiggle session.
A G2 collect doesn't collect them, which I'd expect.
Opening and closing a popup with no controls, just a "PopupBackground" Placement, leads to precisely one undisposed bitmap, again with an associated increase in private bytes.
Again, maybe this normal and I'm chasing down the wrong tree (to shamelessly mix metaphors), but it's suspicious enough for me to bring it up here for others to consider. Should I, somehow, be disposing of the "PopupBackgroud" bitmap somewhere?
JavaWiz: I did find one memory leak in your UiTools, but, honestly, I don't think it would account for much more than a few dozen bytes, so I'm not especially panicking over it.
modern graphic display card GPU can decode mpeg2,h264 and even vc1 codec during a video playback. To fullfill this hardware decoding, just install some software player like powerdvd, windvd and enable hardware accleration/decode in the player settings.
Back to gbpvr, does it make use of the gpu for hardware decoding when playback recorded TV programmes
I treated myself to a new LCD TV at the weekend, so completely re-wired my AV setup, which has been running with GBPVR very nicely for a couple of years.
In the process I tried to figure out a couple of things that had defeated me when I first set it all up. I'm in the UK, running a basic Sky setup, and my PVR has a Hauppauge 350 card in it, which can take input from both a coax 'aerial' cable and a composite/s-video cable. Originally I hadn't been able to get the card to 'see' the composite input, but trying again, noodling around, I found that 'composite 2' works (I didn't know there were different sorts of composite signal).
So, I was happy, and thought I'd get better quality using composite rather than RF over coax. However, when all setup, I found that while watching live TV works fine, recorded programmes have no sound!
This makes me think that it can't be a hardware or cabling issue - if GBPVR happily gives me sound when playing 'Live', but not when recording, it must be a software issue, no?
For now, I've reverted back to the coax cable, which is working fine.
I recently upgraded my GBPVR box so I could watch ATSC with timeshifting - I had this problem before the upgrade and thought that I was hardware limited. Fresh install of Windows XP Pro and GBPRV (hardware specs in my siggy).
I go into live tv either via the Live TV menu item or via the tv guide and it will play fine, but when I pause it sometimes it won't resume. The times that it does start playing, if I pause it again, it then it won't resume. The timer at the top of the screen will start incrementing, but the show will stay frozen.
It will exit to the menu just fine, so it's not like the PC is locked up or anything.
I'm recording them as .ts files and have tried DVR-MS format and had the same result.
Pausing works fine for playback of already recorded ATSC files, it's just when I'm watching live TV that I have the problem.
