heres the issue
was recording true stories uncut from 21:40to 22:40(stopped to record next show by recording service thats fine)
started recording dog the bounty hunter at 22:39 :00
heres where it went south
decided it still wanted to record true stories uncut
stopped dog at 22:39:02 and recorded another minute or so of that then that was it no more dog
i have had the same set up for recording for ages what has changed?
I like using pretty vertical gradient colors in the guide. Is it possible to do any gradients with the custom genre colors, or are these limited to a solid color?
I have a networked pc with videos I'd like to try viewing via wired MVP. I've set up the shared recordings directory in config & it shows up on the MVP Video Libray menu but won't open the folder. I can, however, open the directory and view the videos when running PVRX2 on the MVP server. If I can access them from the server, shouldn't I be able to access them from the MVP? I've tried both the default donge and MVPMC. I could understand if the videos wouldn't run well since the data would be moving over the network from the shared PC to the Server to the MVP all at the same time, but I can't even open the directory to test it.
It's probably something simple, but I'm stumped. I am prepared to be humbled.
I'd like to take my DVDs and put them on my networked based storage. I have two televisions in my house. One is equipped with a HTPC. The other will be soon. I plan to run gb-pvr at both sets, both accessing the networked based library.
I know HDD space is cheap, and the best solution would be to simply store ISOs of the DVDs, but I'd rather not. I'm not interested in extras or menus. I want to select the movie and have it start playing. I also want smaller sized files for portability on laptops, etc.
I know how to use the various ripping tools to achieve a movie only vob collection, and am interested in what everyone thinks is a good final format for my movie only collection.
I was thinking about using x264 resulting in mp4 files, keeping the ac3 intact (sound quality to me is more important than image quality). Ideally, I'd like to keep a 1.5HR DVD around 1GB.
I've done some experimentation with Divx with OK results, but at my desired filesize, I'd like a better solution. I've browsed around the doom9 and videohelp websites, but would like to hear gb-pvr user's suggestions.
As the subject says, my MVP drops out when playing live TV. It plays recordings fine, avi files transcode nicely with FFmpeg (though I still have to set up FFDshow to sort out the colour balance)
I'm including the logs for reference, but when I enable <transcodeall> in config.xml it's clear that the transcode mpeg isn't growing fast enough. With it disabled there doesn't seem to be a reason why it drops out, in the log.
Because I get the same result with either option - the video shows for about a second then drops to main menu - it seems the recording service just isn't dumping the live tv feed fast enough. But I'm just guessing.
Anybody seen this problem at all? This is the first time I've tried to get the MVP to play live TV. I got the 150 last week and have been trying to get it to control my STB to no avail, seems the 150's IR database doesn't have a code group for the stb at all. (Multichoice DStv DSD910 in South Africa)
I got the TV playing back in PVRX2 100% but in the MVP it plays for a second (the MVP pre-buffer) then it stops.
The set up:
P4 2.6 w/768MB RAM
500GB HDD
PVR-150 (non-MCE) using composite input, version 4 drivers from hauppauge.co.uk site
MVP 86001 ver.D3A, dongle.1.1.57.bin, connected to PC through a hub with ADSL router doing DHCP.
It does this on any dongle.
Due to video stutter problems, I still need to run Pvrx2 in FSE mode to get good video playback. However, every once in awhile, the keyboard (and remote) stop responding. I am assuming that when this happens, there is a popup or something that has taken over the keyboard focus. Since FSE mode completely takes over the screen display, there is no way to see what, if anything, lies behind the Pvrx2 display so that I can respond to it. My only recourse is to power off the PC (with the power button).
Does anyone else have this problem and if so, do you know how to get around it? I have tried the EVR renderer to see if it plays smoothly but all I get is a black screen.
Blight, the author of Zoom Player has included support for the Haali renderer in the latest beta. It seems to be a wonderful renderer displaying rich accurate colors. I am not sure if it is better than EVR, but in all cases in the same league or better.
As I remember Blight wrote in his forum that support for the renderer was fairly easy to implement. It would be interesting to see how it would work in GB-PVR. It has no dependency on .NET 3.0 etc. I think you must have the Haali MKV splitter installed though.
I used Haali in ZP in Vista with great results. It did much better there than any other renderer, although it had problems with some formats.
I have 2 GBPVR PC's that I would like to connect to my MVP. Is there an MVPMC menu option that will let me choose which server to connect to? If not, is there some language I can put in the dongle.bin.config file that will let me do this?
Server 1 - XP MCE 2005 w/HVR1600
Server 2 - XP Pro w/PVR150
Followup - I realize that I could just point GBPVR to the recordings directory on the 2nd server to access them, but I would also like to be able to schedule recordings on both PC's which is why I'm hoping there's some way to choose the server via the MVP.
I promised my 8 y.o. on her birthdays, among other gifts, she will get an upgrade of her cable box to DVR box, so she can record her favorite cartoons and watch on weekend. Suddenly I came across this pretty decent TV tuner card for $19 (MCE-3000) and convinced her we will upgrade her PC to DVR (we are on strict budget and it will give us more functionality we needed, like converting family VHS tapes to DVDs). So far I got myself in more troubles than I expected or could pull out. It was just a hardware kit – no software. So I went googling and found this awesome free software/forum. After 1 week of reading and fixing some minor problems I got everything working pretty well. (Most of the time went to researching how to setup a “non-supported” TV card, listings setup and some freezing of the PC – so far all done and working pretty well for our needs). I’m getting frustrated with few last pieces I cannot get how to get it work, even though I read all instructions on WiKi and forum. And my child getting upset as weekend one day away and she wants something to be recorded, while us going to be away. So any detailed answer will be GREATLY appreciated.
My PC is P4, 2.66Ghz, 533MHz FSB, 1GB DDR-333, ATI Radeon-9550, 120GB IDE, WinXP with SP2 with all available upgrades done. TV tuner is ADStech MCE-3000 (a.k.a. ADS PTV 305). The remote closely resembles Microsoft MCE Remote 2005 (version 2a) and supported by GBPVR. If I connect cable directly to Tv card – I can do everything I need, but I have a cable box before TV card. (in GBPVR v.1.1.5 I set the source as fixed channel “3”. Went through the procedure teaching IR transceiver to get commands from cable’s remote (I tried in channel changer MCE2005 IR Blaster plug-in) – I could not make IR blaster to change cable channels. Maybe I needed to install this plug-in?
My second try was to choose .exe Changer plug-in and installing HIP as software and HIP plug-in for MCE remote). From there a was totally lost how to make HIP to work.
So for my my setup with TV card and cable box as (RF channel 3) input my questions:
1. Do I need HIP if I have only WinXP SP2?
2. if I do, what HIP software and plug-ins (or only plug-ins) to use?
3. What setup guide to use? I mean Setting GBPVR with MCE or setting HIP with a remote?
Guide me please. I need to finish it tonight or I’m in a big “troubles”. The bottom line I need to make IR blaster to work and schedule two-three recordings on this weekend from different channels.
