I am hoping someone can help me tweak my settings a bit for the television ratios displayed in live tv.
I am using Nvidia pure platinum as my decoder and have it set to raw/amorphic.
I have a widescreen lcd television and have GBPVR set to display in 16:9, although it doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference what I set it on.
I get channels displayed in all sorts of formats 4:3, 16:9, and even some others I dont know the name of.
I have searched through the nvidia config, added the tweak registry tool, even tried using other decoders and it doesnt change a thing.
I have set GBPVR to display 4:3 and 16:9 and there is no difference.
Is there a setting somewhere I have missed?
Hopefully someone can shed some light on it for me, it is driving me nuts.
P.S I use Nvidia for my dvds and movies as well and they display perfectly once I cycled through with F7 to fill, however the television when I use F7 to cycle through the modes never has a screen where there arent black bars and if I make it as large as I can, when I go to the channels which did display correctly they are overscanned.
I have a Hauppage WinTV-PVR-500 MCE running on Windows XP Home, AMD Athlon +3200, 2GB RAM, RADEON 7500 series video card with Matrox G450 PCI
It's an older PC but does it's job fine. It's my understanding that the WinTV-PVR-500 has hardware encoding, which I had hoped would help relieve the main CPU of a lot of processing.
I am running GB-PVR on a Radeon 7500 series monitor (not matrox G450-PCI)
I am really only interested in playing live TV (although pause/rewind would be nice)
In GB-PVR configuration - Playback, I have 3 choices for Hardware decoder device :
1. None - use software decoder
2. Hauppage PVR350
3. Sigma Designs XCard
Everything seems to work if I select 'None - use software decoder', but my CPU is at +80% with nothing else running which is not what I want on this PC (other applications need to run).
If I select 'Hauppage PVR350' the Settings Button remains disabled and GB-PVR tells me that "No available PVR350 was detected in the system" when it starts.
If I select 'Sigma Designs XCard' the settings button is enabled and I get to choose 'Output Mode' and 'TV Standard'
Regardless of the output mode or TV standard, I get a message saying that 'Video is playing back using TV Out' and Errors 'External component has thrown an exception' or 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object'. Probably because I do not have a Sigma Designs XCard ??
So my question : does the WinTV-PVR-500 MCE really have hardware encoding and if yes can I enable it in GB-PVR so it doesn't use 80% of my CPU ???
Alternative question (possibly not GB-PVR related) : what's the best way to get this card to display live TV using the least CPU ?
Ive just upgraded to the latest version, previously having two nova-t's and the D-Box recorder plugin. All was working succesfully, but now the D-Box recorder has disapeared from the capture sources screen, it wont let me add it as another tuner (dbox dll is located in 'Plugins\Dbox' directory). Strangely it still shows on the recording stutus panel??

On two different machines I've found that my sound-scheme gets messed up after GBPVR install. I just have a simple stereo setup, but it seems to think it's in surround or something. None of the Realtek settings seem to correct it. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
Been a user of gbpvr for a couple of years now. Just bought a Sony 55" HDTV and also just upgraded my gbpvr hardware with an HDMI video card. I'm using a Haupauge PVR-350 tuner. (Analog only) (I do plan on eventually getting a digital tuner to use for high def)
My goal is to improve the playback quality on the HDTV:
I've seen articles describing how dscaler can do a very good job upscaling a 480i signal. Which will be my best option?
Will installing ffdshow and enabling the post-processing option help any? Do I need to fiddle with the ffdshow settings?
Installing dscaler only and using that as the Video decoder?
Or a combination of ffdshow and dscaler? In this case, would I leave the video decoder as system default, turn on ffdshow post-processing, and enable dscaler within ffdshow?
Along these lines... I've set the aspect ratio in gbpvr to 16x9 to match my tv. Now the interface, as well as the recordings are displayed in 16x9. Some of the recordings may actually have been broadcast in widescreen, but I'm sure not all of them. Does gbpvr change the aspect ratio of the recordings? If so, I would probably also get better picture quality by leaving it at the original 4x3?
Thanks all, Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
I have been running v.9813 all last television season using a MediaMVP flawlessly. I moved this summer and just hadn't gotten around to running the cat5 in the attic and getting everything setup. Last weekend I finally did and when I turned on my MVP I received the signal just fine- video playback etc worked perfect. Since Zap2It is gone, I decided to upgrade to the latest version v1.1.5 and got a subscription to Schedules Direct. I can run PVRX2 just fine on my PC but the MVP can no longer find a streaming server to connect to. MVP Controller is running in the background. I have tried to read every forum and Wiki I could find on the subject but no luck. Any thoughts or suggestion or a thread for answers?
My system:

Hauppage PVR500
WinXP PRo
I just got my cable box and UIRT set up last night. I set up a few recordings overnight. When I got up this morning, the recordings are all one minute long or less. The programs I was recording were all at least a half an hour. I restarted a few minutes ago and tried to record something else, and it did the same thing.
I'm running GBPVR 1.0.16. I don't have any additional plugins installed. My logs are attached. Can anyone direct me to what the problem may be?
Just upgraded from a previous version of GB-PVR (which I've run for many months) to the lastest (1.1.5). I have gone through the setup and performed the tuning of channels and they all get picked up OK, i.e. in the Config/CaptureSources area I can see channel video and hear audio fine. I can watch recorded TV ok too.
When I go to watch live TV it doesn't work. Screen goes black for a second or two and then goes back to menu. In the error log I see:

Questions
[1] Can anyone help please re the above?
[2] I have my XP firewall off, however there is Cybersitter filtering software running on the PC but I did turn it off and try too.
[3] After the upgrade I see to be able to run the old UI and the new UI. Should both of these work ok? That is "GBPRV" and "PVRX2.exe". Should both of these work? Was I suppose to uninstall the old version before installing the latest?
[4] Does the tray icon need to be running? I'm assuming not and that this is an optional extra? Just that it seems to be playing up, but I'd rather focus on getting live TV back and working again first.
I've attached logs if this helps too. I couldn't myself see anything more significant than what I've attached above. Note that it was at 21:45 that I clicked "LIVE TV" => after a couple of seconds of black screen the menu just came back.
