I just installed version 1.0.16. I was able to get the capture source and EPG set up with no problem. But when I start GBPVR the window is just blank. It's transparent actually, showing what is on my desktop inside the frame of the window.
I read the thread about NVidia video card problems. I tried updating my drivers with the drivers from the link, but that driver install says my video card isn't applicable. The computer has an NVidia RIVA TNT video card. I will try to find updated drivers now, and I'll follow this post up with the results.
I also do not have any additional plugins. I installed GBPVR, then set up yapi2xml, and that's it.
I've restarted several times, but it hasn't helped. I'm out of ideas right now. My logs are attached. Can anyone give me some guidance?
The MVP's red led flickers and I can turn the power on/off but the GBPVR menu will not respond to any button presses. Up until recently this setup was working fine and I can't recall any recent changes to my setup.
I did a search and found old threads with the exact same issue but I didn't really understand the conclusion/solution. Also, I was not sure if newer versions of GBPVR addressed those older thread issues?
Anyway, I have tried a few other dongles which made absolutely no difference. Replaced batteries in the remote - no luck either. Can any one suggest something else to rectify?
Hi, i am a newbie to all of this, go the above stick as a present and installed it...no problems. then found out about gb-pvr. i am running xp sp2 and have searched the posts regarding this stick, and have come up against some problems.
i downloaded the bda drivers from freecom, but when i try to uninstall the old ones and reinstall the bda ones i cannot even find the device in device manager. not even the smallest hint that anything could be the usb stick. i take it once i have installed the bda drivers correctly then gb-pvr will recoignise the device in its drow down list when i select source [cos at the moment there isnt a freecom device listed]
one thing at a time anyway, can anyone help with uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the bda ones. i am fairly competent with my pc but it has baffled me why i cannot find the drivers, even switching usb port didnt bring the installing hardware program up...it just let the device be used from that port...
Long time lurker first time poster. I have to say that this is a fantastic forum and I've been coming here virtually everyday since I discovered GBpvr several years ago. I also obviously have to say a huge thank you to Sub for all his hard work and effort, GBpvr is for me the best media center software (free or commercial) out there, so thank you Sub.
Introductions aside I've been tempted to post this suggestion for ages, but as I said I'm a life long lurker . I was prompted really by ApexHack's recent thread on padding handling w/multiple tuners and although our difficulties aren't the exact same I think my suggestion could help us both.
The problem I have is that I can't get GBpvr to honour padding on back-to-back shows. I have a Nova-t 500 to handle digital reception and a PVR-500 for analogue. <TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible> is obviously set to yes and <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> is set to false. But when I try to record back-to-back on either the digital or analogue card, even if they are the only recordings, GBpvr wont honour the padding. It simply stops and starts again on the same tuner, which results in chopping off the end of one show or the beginning of another.
Finally my suggestion, simple the ability to manually select which tuner is used to record each show. If in the manual recording pop-up you had the ability to specify which tuner is used (based on what you have listed in the capture sources) you could then remove the guess works and dictate that recording one uses tuner one and recording two uses tuner two and basically overlap any back-to-back recordings. I'm sure it could be tied into GBpvr's conflict logic to point out any conflicts and it would give greater control.
Also ApexHack could then dictate which shows were recorded back-to-back on the same tuner and which were padded.
Thanks again sub for the great software and any feedback on the idea would be greatly appreciated.
For those of you who have customized their PC by removing icons and making a custom desktop, you might want to check out a tool called Iconoid.
You can do a fair amount of customization without having to hack the registry by hand.
I've used to to customize the PC connected to the TV so that on startup, the desktop appears without any icons, but I can easily make them temporarily appear via HotKey or clicking on the desktop.
Features:
Only Iconoid hides and shows the icons when you need them.
Only Iconoid insures that when you restore icon positions, the saved positions do not overlay other icons. Iconoid goes to great lengths to insure that all Icons are visible when you restore Icon positions.
Iconoid can be completely hidden or live in the system tray.
Iconoid is customizable. For example, you can decide what options appear in the tray popup so that you don't have to see a cluttered list of items you don't use.
Iconoid can determine the optimal text background color whenever the wallpaper changes -- automatically.
Iconoid comes with complete source.
Usual problem - recording too much and my hard drive getting rather full - and now I am using GBPVR I like having everything available rather then archived onto discs...
So started looking at external USB2 backup drives. (Great prices now like £69 for a 500gb Freecom 7200rpm 16mb cache - which is cheaper then a 500gb internal OEM drive!)
But I then stumbled across media drive enclosures. For not much more than a normal USB2 external enclosure, you get the ability to connect the drive up to any TV or monitor. It just seems such a good idea - all the benefits of an external drive and, when required, disconnect it and take it to friends or family to watch whatever...
So the question is, anyone with experience of these, and if so can you confirm they will play shows recorded by GBPVR?
When recording 2 shows on the same channel after each other, you'll get 2 recording. But only post padding after the last one. on older version of gbpvr it would switch tuner card.
If I'm already 20 mins into a show and decide I want tor record it all including the 20 mins I've already watched, Is this possible? If I hit record, it seems to record from where I hit record even if I have the previous 20 mins buffered.
Is this possible? If not, It would be a great feature.
Cheers
DM
PS - Sub this is great software and apprecaite all that it does already.
I thought I had gbpvr all set up, but I have now found some of my mp3 files won't play although they do from windows media player.
Do I have to add extra audio codec's to get it to work?
