International Cinema Listings plugin - new version
Posted by: McBainUK - 2007-11-08, 01:36 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (3)

Have just uploaded v6.1, download from the wiki page.

For the full list of changes see the wiki, but the big ones are:

* Film posters are now shown as thumbnails in the lists.
* Can now press yellow to switch between synopsis and showings in By Cinema mode.
* Fixed problems with the Swedish, UK, and USA (IMDB) sources.
* Better support for non-English characters.
* Added alternative title scraper option for use with non english sources - this is then used in poster and trailer downloads.
* Fixed bug where the 'Last update..' message would only change after a GB-PVR restart.
* Improved the IMDB hit rate.

Post comments below, support questions here.

  Problem with multiple cards?
Posted by: shikarr - 2007-11-08, 11:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have been running GBPVR for several years now on a Hauppauge 500 Card and it works wonderfully with that capture sources 1 and 2 for the tuners for the card. I can not recommend the program enough to my friends. I recently purchased a hauppuage 1800 card since I wanted to add another tuner and try also to see about some over the air digital broadcasts in my area. I unfortunately have ran into problems. No matter how I install the card in combination with my 500 card it does not like capture device 3 ro above. If I install either card to use Capture device 3 or above it says:The drivers for the device you have configured do not seem to be installed. Do you want to save these current settings. This happens if I use any device on other than capture device 1 or 2. Is there some other setting or limitation I am not aware of? I am using windows XP Pro. Is there some setting in it that might be wrong or a limitation I am unaware of with it. All devices look to be installed correctly and functioning fine. I just don't know anything else to do so I am putting this out in the community and maybe someone has had the same problem or a similar one and knows the answer. thank you all for your assistance.

Proper padding handling w/multiple tuners please.
Posted by: ApexHack - 2007-11-08, 10:00 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

The following is my understanding of the situation after a lot of searching. If I'm missing something, feel free to kick me in the balls virtually.

I've got three tuners and record with all three simultaneously a couple of times a week. There are also lots of instances of back-to-back shows interleaved in there.

The default setting of <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> is "false" which allows me to use all three tuners, but ignores padding. I'm now sure that this was the cause of past failed recordings where three were supposed to record at once and one didn't. "True" is where I had it set for a long time because it seemed to make sense and I was unaware of this other action.

<TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible> is default "yes" and this would make sense, but it obviously does not work.

To complicate things further, apparently the action is set in stone when the recording is initially scheduled. This leads to a mess when <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> is changed down the line. I spent quite a bit of time deleting and rescheduling recurring recordings after realizing that <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> needs to be "false" as this is the lesser of two evils.

So, now to be able to use all three tuners at once <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> has to be set "false" and back-to-back shows just get their ends clipped. No, Sir, I don't like it.

I sure hope this is something that gets cleared up with the next release.

Have any manufactures made any HD Hardware encoder cards as yet?? (or USB2 cards, i assuming it will need to be USB2 due to the amount of data it needs to shunt once encrypted).

  Reorganizing shows w/ XRecord
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2007-11-08, 05:02 AM - Forum: XSuite (Xrecord, XSearch, XGuide, CDK Scheduler) - Replies (2)

Hope this isn't a FAQ - I've looked around the wiki and the forums and am still not clear on the relationship between the directory structure of my Recordings drive and the gbPVR database. I store all my recordings on one big hard drive. What I would like to do is to put certain recordings (e.g. a movie or holiday special animation for the kids) into folders, such that when I go into the Xrecord screen I only see folders for my recurring recordings; at the moment each individual show also gets it's own top-level folder. I wouldn't mind if the "singletons" were stored in the videos screen, or inside of folders titled "movies" or "Kids specials". Can I just create these folders inside Windows Explorer and move the files around, or do I have to notify the database of this change. If the latter, how?

Thanks - I really find XSuite essential to making gbPVR a pleasure to use.

  Security in Enhanced Web Admin
Posted by: Deathdefyer2002 - 2007-11-08, 04:57 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (12)

Hey
I was just wondering how secure the Web Admin is. I know that if you are going to be accessing it from the internet there are inherent risks. What I am wondering is if there is any kind of encryption scheme used to ensure that the login and password isn't flying around the net in plain text. If it is in use, then that would make me feel alot better using it. If it isn't, maybe you could point me in the right direction to implement that. I also noticed that recently a new feature was implemented that allowed multiple guests to log in. I am wondering if that login was also secure? Also, Is their an ability to have different levels of security. My idea was having different logins for different people. The administrator then delegates to each user that they can and can not do.

Thanks so much

  Dual PVR150 tuning
Posted by: PaulH - 2007-11-08, 04:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

(GBPVR 1.0.16, PVR150 driver 2.0.48.25037)

Got a little issue with one my PVR150 tuners (I have two -- one is a PVR150 retail, other is a MCE).

Seems one tuner (I think its the retail) doesn't always lock in on a station. I noticed this when ER didn't record right. To see both tuners, I ran both PVRX2 and GBPVR at the same time view live tv. I can see on some channels of 1 tuner where it doesn't fully lock in on a station. Like its either black and white with no sound, or no picture at all.

I did try swapping cables to make sure its not a problem with the cable wire.

If I run WinTV2000 and PVRX2, everything looks fine on both tuners. Only seems to get weird on 1 tuner when GBPVR runs both of them.

Any ideas?

Paul

Client Problem only: shows wrong time length
Posted by: dark_half - 2007-11-08, 03:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I am having a problem on the clent only showing the wrong length of recorded shows during playback. This only affects the client the server is reporting the correct the length. This causes comskip to be off on the client only but works fine on the server.

In the logs I watched Bionic Women on the server abd it show a length of 59:57 and the commercials are marked in the correct location. When playback on the client the same show has a length of1:06:39 and the commercial skips are off. I have check several shows and the problem is the same. 1 hour shows are approx. 1hour 06 mins and 30 min shows are 33 mins long.

  Hauppauge USB PVR2 Issues
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2007-11-08, 03:37 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

I have this tuner and have had plenty of problems with it. I think the picture quality is just fine, but what seems to happen sometimes randomly but usually after a wake-up from hibernate or standby, the device is no longer recognized (which means that the remote won't work either).

The way to get it to work again is either to reset or to unplug and replug it, and then usually the computer will re-recognize it.

I have a second tuner (PVR-150) which works just fine... Is this not a good tuner? Anyone know of a fix? If it's kind of flawed, do you have any suggestions for USB tuners (since I don't have any more slots left in my computer)

Thanks for the help!
