  Skin TaskImages & _TaskImages directory
Posted by: Jaggy - 2007-10-23, 08:26 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

I feel like a fraud posting in here as making a plugin is way more complicated than doing a skin & the knowledge you have leaves me for dead, Oh well here goes anyway Smile

While doing my skin I put the taskimages into the sub directories the same way I did for the earlier versions but while looking in the log saw skin taskimage errors pointing to a _TaskImages directory I then created this directory & moved the images into it renaming them recordings.png etc. & the errors in the log disappeared but then Fatman_do posted this message

Fatman_do Wrote:About Task Images.

Plugins are coded to show the file "task.png" in the plugin's folder.
For example "..\skin2\SkinNameHere\TVGuide\Task.png"
The main menu has to have task images enabled to see the images (which it looks like this skin does).

There is no use for a folder called "_TaskImages".
It does nothing.
MixMan used it for storage during installation and theme changing in his skins, and that may be causing some confusion.

I know that he is not totally correct as I get taskimages displaying on both my test PC & the MVP server PC & over the MVP. Is this the right place for the images in pvrx2?

  Replace PVR150 with Nova-S
Posted by: psycik - 2007-10-23, 08:11 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (21)

Hi, I currently have a PVR500 and a PVR-150.

The PVR-150 has the hauppauge remote and this is currently what I use for the remote control for my gbpvr system.

If I replaced the pvr150 with a Hauppauge nova-s could it take over the same functions as the pvr150, in terms of using the hauppauge ir.exe software for controlling the system?? and obviously with the benefits of dvb-s feed into my pvr... Or would I be better off replacing the pvr150 with an hvr4000 or so in the hopes that later on I can also get the dvb-t feed when it comes on stream...

  Am I Using Hardware Decoding?
Posted by: SC-GBPVR - 2007-10-23, 05:25 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Looking at the GBPVR log(s) I am not sure that my video card is actually using its hardware MPEG to display video on my TV. How can I be sure?

My hardware is Compaq SFF D510, 512mb RAM, XP Pro, dedicated to GBPVR, 160gb IDE HD, NVidia (Jaton) GEForce 6200 low profile.

Thanks.

  Fastest Channel Changing?
Posted by: SC-GBPVR - 2007-10-23, 05:22 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I am using the Hauppage exe-based blaster with my GBPVR setup (PVR-150). Chaning channels takes 2-3 seconds. What kind of hardware can/should I get to make changing channels as fast as "native" remote and cable box?

The set top is a Scientific Atlanta 2100.

My hardware is Compaq SFF D510, 512mb RAM, XP Pro, dedicated to GBPVR, 160gb IDE HD, NVidia GEForce 6200.

Thanks.

Display flashes during boot, PVR150 keeps getting dropped
Posted by: tonyimp - 2007-10-23, 05:15 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hey everyone. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
I am having problems with hardware.
During boot, before the OS starts to boot, my screen flashes. It is on for 5 seconds, then off for 5 seconds, then on for 5 seconds, then boots. This is not a huge problem because it boots and runs normally for the most part.
Sometimes, I lose the PVR150 card from my system during boot. The card is simply gone. I can re-install it, but I have to manually specify the driver. I even bought a HDHOMERUN to replace it because I thought the PVR150 had gone bad. Because I can still record with the PVR150 when it is found, I do not think the card is bad, so I may return or sell the HDHR.
Also, I know that one of the SATA connectors is bad. When a HD is connected though one of the MB connectors, the system will not boot and will instead hang.
I replaced the WD 500 GB drive recently under warranty because the 500 GB drive was running a full 5 DEG C higher than any other component in the box, even with case off, and a house fan blowing directly on all components. MB temp never really exceeded 50 deg C, so I don;t think anything is blown.

Anyone have any experience like this?
Thanks
Tony

I have a 939 MB (K8NGM2-NBP) with a lower end Athlon processor.
I have a PVR150 and a PVR150MCE installed.
I am running 512 MB of Ram, generic. This is barely enough for XP home.
2 SATA HDs, one for OS, the other for storage, an ext 350 GB USB drive a DVD writer, and an RF keyboard and an MCE remote.
The PS is a 500W Ultra brand PS. I think the PS is OK, because i installed the same setup using a 350W Antec and had similar complications. Plus temp is good for PS/.

Running MVP causes server to skip/stutter
Posted by: mkenyon2 - 2007-10-23, 04:43 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

The other nite, my wife was using the main PVR server in the living room to play a game. I wanted to catch up on some recorded shows, so I powered up the MVP from the bedroom. My wife began to experience skips in the game, and it caused her to die in the game. (Obviously we don't want our wives dieing in-game...)

I only have 1Gb of RAM, but I do have a 3GHz processor. I'm wondering if the RAM was the issue, and I need more?

Any thoughts?

Drool... can't wait for DTX standard!
Posted by: mkenyon2 - 2007-10-23, 04:40 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

This would be an awesome set-top box, I think:
http://www.hothardware.com/articles/AMD_DTX_Sneak_Peek/

Only things I didn't like:
Only room for 1 hard drive - This probably isn't going to be your video server, unless you attach an external SATA drive.
No composite/S video out - Although, DVI out will probably drive most Flat panels today
Little room for capture cards - Would definitely have to be driven by a Media server

However, I think it'll be an awesome little box for a set-top remote.

  Odd Recording Issue
Posted by: goober56 - 2007-10-23, 02:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

So I go to record a show for the wife. Its on at 7PM every weekday night. It also has a recap on Sunday from like 8AM and plays all 5 shows. The problem is that when I go to record the "season" it only records the Sunday shows, and not the weekday shows.. Anyone have any tips?

  Video/Audio Sync Problems-X800XL
Posted by: Skyeclad - 2007-10-23, 01:17 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (9)

Help! I'm at my wits end and reconsidering the value equation of an HTPC. Scheduling and recording using GB-PVR has been a snap. Unfortunately, this all doesn't amount to much if I can't watch LiveTV or recordings without video/audio sync problems which I am having.

Here is my set-up:

XP SP2
A64 3200+
Asus A8n-e
2gb RAM
ATI X800XL
SB Live

I think I've tried every video/audio codec combination that I have with Overlay/VM7/VM9 and I still end up with video/audio sync problems when playing back HD. Typically the playback starts out fine and then I notice very small, almost imperceptible stutters and the audio starts to outpace the video. Then it becomes very noticeable that their is a sync issue. Pausing seems to reset the timing sometimes.

Here are the video codecs that I've used:

ATI MPEG
Intervideo
Cyberlink PDVD7
Nvidia Purevideo
Nero Video Decoder(purevideo)

The audio codecs are included for the video codecs above with the exception of AC3Filter.

Of all my codecs, Nero Video/AC3Filter/Overlay can be at times a stable combination but inevitably this too usually stutters and loses sync.

Is there anything else that I should be trying? To be honest, after what amounted to a smooth PVR installation, this issue has me frustrated because I don't know where the problem stems from.
