Recording might have been corrupted by EPG update?
Posted by: careads - 2021-04-18, 06:51 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (1)

I did a test recording where 36 minutes of recording was saved but NextPVR thinks the duration is 33 minutes.  An EPG update was performed in the middle of the recording, and I am wondering if that reset the recorded start_time from (program start time - the 3 minute pre-pad) to (program start time)?

I am using: Ubuntu 20.10, NextPVR 5.1.1.210329

I am attaching a .zip file that includes the log files, and images showing Kodi and NextPVR both think a 36 minute recording is 33 minutes.

I did 6x 30 minute show test recordings overnight.  I used 3 minute pre and post padding, so I expected 6x 36 minute recordings.  One of the recordings ending up being "33 minutes".  I say "33 minutes" because it appears that 36 minutes was recorded, but NextPVR (see 33_minute_recording.png) and Kodi (see kodi_33_minute_recording.png) "think" it was 33 minutes.  Kodi lets me watch all 36 minutes , but I can't skip forwards and backwards in the last 3 minutes.  The NextPVR browser player won't let me watch the last 3 minutes.

It turns out that an EPG update was done in the middle of the recording (see "2021-04-18 02:44:38.834 [DEBUG][10]    Update EPG..." in nrecord.log.1):
2021-04-18 02:44:31.665    [DEBUG][54]    Have received 293856220 bytes from rtp source
    2021-04-18 02:44:38.834    [DEBUG][10]    Update EPG...
    2021-04-18 02:44:38.845    [INFO][55]    About to update EPG
    2021-04-18 02:44:38.910    [DEBUG][55]    No /var/opt/nextpvr/scripts/UpdateEPG.sh file found

I am wondering if the EPG update is what corrupted the recording? When playing back the recordings I notice in record.log.1 that the recordings that worked show the correct start time including the pre-pad, example (11:57:00 = program start @ 12:00:00 - 3 minute pre-pad):
    2021-04-18 08:33:51.717    [DEBUG][50]    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

The failed recording in nrecord.log.1 doesn't, example (2:30:00 recording start_time, expected 2:27:00):

  Kodi recordings stopped before completion
Posted by: mjccox - 2021-04-18, 05:17 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (15)

From within Kodi I had scheduled the recording of the F1 race. I saw the message on the screen saying "recording completed" (about 3 hours later) at the appropriate time. So I attempted to watch it.  After approximately 22 minutes the recording must have failed because the video stopped. The length is only 22 minutes long even when played in VLC and Nextpvr Desktop.  Admittedly I have only been using this to watch tv for a short time but I haven't had issues with streams being interrupted.  But there do seem to be issues with watching current recordings and watching completed recordings though. I'm wondering if I have bad settings for transcoder / decoder / chunk sizes / other... Is there a way to record in another file format? ... Just had another thought that it could it be my computer going to sleep after 20 minutes.  But it's a desktop HTPC and is set to Never sleep.

Also, curious about the "Live TV method" in Kodi... If I apply the trasncoded method and allow timeshift, some channels allow me to pause live tv and others do not.  The pause button simply isn't present. But with straight timeshift pausing always works... Resuming from paused is a little sketchy though.

  New user, couple of questions
Posted by: matt77303 - 2021-04-18, 05:02 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

Hi

Moved over from TVheadend last week mainly for use with my IPTV supplier using the nextPVR addon for KODI 19.

Im amazed how is it is to setup after using TVHeadend for a couple of years i kinda got used to how complicated it is to get setup ( xmltv epg really needs some work on TVHeadend )

The only thing i cant see to do, is rename and remove channel groups. Currently im doing it via x-tream editor and then importing the resulting playlists into nextPVR, but id like to remove the 'middle man' and edit the groups in nextPVR.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction?

Thank you.

Matt

  Recorded movie/show indicator in guide
Posted by: artmetz - 2021-04-18, 03:55 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Often I record a movie without realizing it's already been recorded some time ago. It would be helpful to have some indication on the guide that the show/movie is already in my library. Maybe a checkmark or "rec" where the "new" indicator is?

Or when I choose to record a movie, I get a warning...

  EPG 404 issue
Posted by: cookrd1 - 2021-04-18, 11:25 AM - Forum: macOS - Replies (3)

I have NextPVR running on my 2015 MBP and also a Windows 10 computer.
Has been working flawlessly on both.
However, on my MBP, I can not longer get the EPG which is an XML file that it retrieves from a server.  Works fine on Windows, but on my MBP, I keep getting a 404 error. I have several sources for the EPG, all work find on Windows but on my MBP, they all return the same 404 error with no EPG updated.
I am using the latest NextPVR software, MBP is the last release prior to Big Sur.  Like I said, worked fine until just recently and I have made no changes to my MBP other than any updates that Apple might have pushed out.
Ideas?

  Custom Tasks
Posted by: jrockow - 2021-04-17, 01:59 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

I assume from what I've read that V5 no longer supports PlugIns?
For me personally that's a massive setback, since I don't use the default UI.

Does V5 still support Custom Tasks?
Something as basic as a call to Chrome with an arg?

I've done a quick test that wasn't successful.

missing channels in specific bucket (46 radio stations)
Posted by: siekle - 2021-04-17, 12:59 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I'm having trouble receiving a specific local (Stuttgart, Germany) radio station (SWR1) that is transmitted in DVB-C at 322 MHz, 256QAM, 8MHz bandwidth. I have this information from other receivers that receive this radio station without problems. Actually, NextPVR doesn't detect any station in this bucket. The problem with this bucket is, that it is crowded with 46 radio stations. For your info, I attach a list (collected with a streaming tuner) and of course the NextPVR logs. I have tried to decode the bucket with different settings for modulation QAM64, QAM128, but this didn't work either.

My tuner is a TBS6281SE PCI-E card on Win 10. With this same card, I receive about 130 channels (radio and tv) in NextPVR. With the associated tool, TBS Viewer, I can receive all (~230 station, unencrypted) stations on the cable. So I guess there are other buckets with the same problem.

I have searched the forum before posting this question, but I didn't find a similar effect.

Does anybody have an idea how to overcome this issue?
Many thanks
SieKle

The radio channels collected with a Fritz Repeater DVB-C (today).

  EPG red indication missing
Posted by: qttor - 2021-04-17, 12:10 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (9)

I've been using version 5 for a short while. I've noticed that scheduled recordings don't always show with red highlight in the EPG. I can't find any reason why some are red and some are not. The pending recordings all show up in the pending list screen, just not always red in the EPG screen. I'm never certain if the non-red shows are really going to be recorded or not. Am I doing something wrong or maybe something I need to change?

  EPG Channels Icons Broken
Posted by: mjccox - 2021-04-16, 10:58 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (42)

I got this nicely set up. But now something strange is going on with the channel icons. The image files look fine in the folder. I did have to remove some trailing spaces before the file extension to get some of them to work. Now they are all working in the Desktop app... some are working in the web app... and some are working in Kodi.

kodi logs, npvr logs, and a couple screenshots attached.
