I am happy to announce a new client for NextPVR using a Roku channel. This channel will provide users with the same Look and Feel as NextPVR.exe for Windows and for knewc and nlite on other platforms.
This is pretty much a worse case scenario since I am playing from a remote NextPVR server over the Internet, using Locast.org not a tuner which is also receiving over the Internet, and playing on low end Roku player using 2.4 Ghz Wifi.
If addition to NextPVR Live TV and Recordings you will be able to access your Video, Music and Picture Libraries including playback of mkv, mp4, webm, mp3 and FLAC files containing many formats.
Over the coming days I will provide additional posts on how to install the channel and additional information in the new Roku client support sub-forum https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=65
If you would like to test this client on your Roku device please send me a PM.https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=63677
Thanks to VCR58, BrettB, UJB and ElihuRozen for testing this and of course to sub for making NextPVR and the UI Client interface possible.
I wanted to watch the news but only yesterdays news was recorded. Then I notice several show to be recorded weren't highlighted in red as usual to indicate they would be recorded. If I click on the shows it offers to cancel recording or cancel series but I don't think it will actually record based recent shows that should have recorded and did not.
One thing I've noticed when using NextPVR is how slow it is (well on my setup anyway) to delete a recording. My set up is as follows
Synology 918+ with NextPVR v5 in Docker
Windows 10 & multiple Nvidia Shield clients using Kodi & PVR addon
When I delete a recording in Kodi there is a long pause before I'm then able to move on to the next which I didn't notice when using TVHeadend in a Docker container. Is it possible for the deletion command to trigger the delete but then allow the user to continue with their activities?
Below is a log of deleting a single recording which took 6-7 seconds. Deleting a folder of recordings in Kodi can bring the system to a standstill for over a minute

But one of my local stations changed frequencies and that required me to remove all the channels and rescan. The dual tuners scan properly, auto merge and auto map seems to work and updating the EPG populates the guide nicely. The problem is that every channel I have tried to watch returns a "Failed to Start Requested Stream" message.
What am I missing?
I am in big trouble if I can't get this working before March Madness games tonight.
Because my January PR for Jellyfin has not been approved, the Jellyfin addon will fail for Live TV, unless users change Settings->Access to enable "Unauthenticated Access".
A developer did thankfully catch a bug in my initial submission which I fixed a couple of weeks ago. I did follow up over a week ago and still did not hear back so it is not clear if the updated addon will be released . This is part of the ongoing support release issue I have with Jellyfin, too much effort is required to have the code released.
As noted in NextPVR this setting is not recommended if the NextPVR server port is exposed to the Internet and you should consider using other clients for Live TV.
As a test I installed the latest LibreElec 10 Beta on my only PC running LibraElec. The NextPVR New Client seems to work OK apart from a problem if WOL is needed. If the server is down the normal WOL popup does not appear just the rotating circle. The server does start but the rotating circle just continues until I cancel the operation. If I now start the New Client it now starts and runs as normal.
1. I have this message: "Version: 5.1.1.210329 (5.1.1.210328 is available for download)".
2. After time-changing I have 1 hour delay and I can't find the way to correct it.
I use win10 and auto-change the time. Windows has a correct time but when I start some channel to watch from "channels.html" I have 1 hour delay at right side.
At same time all the epg times are +1 hour. Are there any way to correct it?
1) On the main settings page in the web app, the version identifier line reads "Version: 5.1.1.210329 (5.1.1.210328 is available for download)". Looks like there might be a slight out-of-sync issue on the build with the version check logic.
2) The release notes mention that it is now possible to enable/disable recurring recordings in the webapp. I'm not seeing any way to do that. What is the mechanism for that new feature?
Quote:Improved management of sessions, allowing them to survive restarts of the service
Improved support for downloading gzipped xmltv files during IPTV channel scan
Improved support for DVB EPG systems using Extended Event Descriptor
Improved resiliency for brief outages when streaming/recording from m3u8 streams
Now storing more information about recently deleted recordings (for better decision making in the future)
Updated version check APIs to use https
By default scanning is only available authenticated sessions (clients that have logged in), but there is a new check box on the Settings->Access screen to allow unauthenticated streaming (from VLC etc)
Improvements to UI Clients image compression.

Added better logging for UI client
Added obfuscation on a couple of log messages that could leak IPTV credentials
Added the ability to disable DVB EPG collection from specific frequencies (for situations like you DVB network carries all the EPG on a single frequency), giving potentially faster EPG updates
Added the DigitalDevices CI checkbox for DVB-S device (previously was only showing up for DVB-T/DVB-C)
Added streaming support in api for playback of some media types not previously supported.
Added support for 'spread' mode across multiple directories on Linux/Mac
