Hi. 1) I tried to install v5 to a local user account much like I have done successfully with v4. However with v5 I am left with the impression there is some sort of issue with v5 and windows permissioning.
Most attempts to change basic things like the live tv buffer directory, the recording directory seem to fail. At first they look like they succeed but when you exit and reenter they are back to the prior default settings. I dont see any save button. Using a 1080p screen.
2) Another hint that perhaps something is not right is that no links to Nextpvr client appear in the start menu of the local user account after install.
3) I cant seem to find the field in the settings area where you set the port number. Even though I have deleted v4 it seems that v5 keeps trying to use the port number previously used by v4 rather than the default 8866. I have no idea where it is getting it from and it had me going in circles as I assumed the new install was going to use the default value of 8866 until I tried the old port number out of frustration.
4) I tried importing old .ts recordings made with v4 using the import button on the v5 settings menu but even though it goes through the steps I cant find any evidence that anything was imported. I did this sort of thing before in v4 with no issue.
When I run auto map on my IPTV source the EPG shows None for almost all of my channels. For some reason it picks up about 40 of my 700 channels. I have tried both mapping strategies with Directv, Comcast and Dish with no luck. I can get a channel to switch form None to Schedules Direct if I edit the channel manually but hoping to avoid doing this for 700 channels. I've also tried deleting the channel listing and starting over but auto map still only reads the same 40 or so channels.
Container create succesfully but stop immediatly without any logs... strange

Hi. Wondering if v4 and v5 can coexist temporarily on the same windows 10 pc? Does v4 require uninstallation before adding v5? Or does the v5 installer uninstall a v4 if it sees it? The question came up more as a "what if". What if one decides they would rather continue with v4 a while longer... if they can coexist with v4 disabled for a while that will settle the concern. This way they dont need to reinstall v4 if something on v5 is not to their liking.
I am having an issue with windows version of NextPVR.
I have 2 DVB Cards.
TBS 6984 for DVB S/S2
TBS 6209 for DVB T/T2/C
I do not want to use the DVB epg in NextPVR because the scan takes forever and goes through all 52 Freesat transponders.
When I deselect them and reduce the scan time per frequency to 30 seconds, it will not save and continues to scan all 0963 freesat frequencies for 60 seconds.
Here is all the frequencies NextPVR wants to scan. (I cannot upload screenshot)
As you can see above, I only want to scan the top 2 DVB-T frequencies, but when i click save, the dialogue box remains and I have to x out of it.
Once i do manual scan, all is reverted to 60 seconds and all frequencies are scanned.
I intend to generate the DVB xml file from other software through linux and add the file rather than scan the stream.
Is there a way to permanently disable these frequencies from the EPG scan or better still, fix the option box to allow saving the required frequencies?
Just wondering why is FFMPEG required when recording a HLS stream which comprises of downloading .ts chunks to view?
Can't the chunks be saved to disk bypassing the need for FFMPEG?
My concern is for people on older computers / crappy CPU laptops, as I'm developing a streaming video website and would like to offer people an option to record locally.
Using version 4.2.5 on a Windows 10 machine, 64 bit, version 20H2
So whenever I click on any listing on the TV guide, I see this error:
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
This error DOES NOT happen when I use the keyboard, so it's definitely a mouse-related issue.
I hope this is the right part of the forum to post this client question to.......
The Kodi 19 client code running on my Shield Android TV box is asking the server for updates every minute through most of the night - check 12 AM March 21 thru 7 AM March 1 - most of the activity is /service (recording.lastupdated) This seems excessive. Is this expected, especially when most of the time there are no updates to send to the client per the logs? Is there a setting on the NextPVR client that can control this frequency?
When I kill Kodi on the Shield this does go away as expected.
NextPVR Service is logging [DEBUG][XX] http://localhost:nnnnn/status every 5 seconds - the value of nnnnn over the last several days has been 53803, 58567 and many others. The XX in DEBUG also varies a lot (see logs).
localhost:nnnnn is usually used when debugging/testing and application that is not yet ready to access remote resources. It can also be used to see if an app that is listening on a given port is still there.
Running this every 5 seconds would appear to be excessive even if it is testing to see if an app is listening on a port on the local machine. If this is expected is there any way to control the interval?
I discovered this when my HTPC was not sleeping as it should have been. HTPC is a Windows 10 box, running NextPVR . You will also see in the logs that there is a Kodi 19 client running on a Shield. I killed off Kodi on the Shield around 9:26 AM local time on March 21, 2021 - you will see in the logs that the client was constantly pinging the NextPVR server for /service (recording.lastupdated) and sometimes getting updates prior to this time - I will open a separate thread for the excessive /service (recording.lastupdated) prior to 9:26 AM as this will most likely be an issue to be understood from the client perspective as it is the client making the request of the server.
Can anyone shed some light on what is going on. Is there a way to control this?
