  Locast streaming and recordings failing
Posted by: Esteban - 2021-03-21, 02:59 PM - Forum: Extras - Replies (22)

This began yesterday after several weeks of success. The NPVR status shows extra-locast as a device, but when I try to watch through channels I get: starting device ... please wait, then streaming failed (transcoder exited error). Recordings fail as well. Restarting the server didn't change anything, nor did rebooting. I can stream just fine directly at locast.org. Logs attached.

  Editing URL for XC Login?
Posted by: CenturyBreak - 2021-03-20, 07:51 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

Greetings all.

For those who have followed my occasional trial and/or tribulation in the v4 sub-forum, yep, I finally upgraded to v5 a few weeks ago! Woohoo! Wink

As the thread subject suggests, I've run into a snag as my IPTV provider is changing its service URL yet again. I've waded through the Wiki, but can't find a mention of editing a URL once it's entered in NextPVR. I also can't see a way to do it in either 'Devices' or 'Channels' in the web app.

Will I have to delete the device and recreate it?

In case it makes a difference, I'm running NextPVR on Windows.

Thanks in advance... as always!

I noticed in the guide of the NextPVR UI that a long show title overlaps the time slot in the display. Here is a pic of what I see.

  Satellite Channels
Posted by: Wilton Helm - 2021-03-20, 01:13 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

I just set up NextPVR with an Avermedia USB (for terrestrial) and a TBS5520sE for satellite (right now no dish motor - locked onto G19).  I scanned channels.  The one I was most interested it was 11842h 22000.  It is a multiplex with over a dozen or more video feeds and some audio only.  The channel scan picked up a few of them, but not most, including the ones I wanted most.  I re-aimed the dish and got it better (although it was working on my hardware sat. rcvr already) and rescanned a couple more times, but no more channels were found.  So I'm wondering what to do to get the rest. I mean its all the same carrier, I would expect all or nothing.  Alternately can I manually enter the channel data somehow to avoid the need to scan?

A related question, it allocated some of the channels to subchannels of an existing terrestrial TV channel that was already in the database.  That seemed strange.  I now have 59.1 - 9, some of them terrestrial and some satellite.  The front end doesn't care, but it sure looks strange!

And finally a less related question.  I could not find any way to observe signal strength.  Not so important for sat, as I use other means to align the dish, but my terrestrial signals come via various reflections and ducts that change by the hour and day and I need a rotator for them which needs to be peaked frequently.

Remove recording entries upon file deletion.
Posted by: InstantSunrise - 2021-03-18, 04:05 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I use NextPVR in conjunction with MCEBuddy to automatically transcode and edit out commercials from my ota recordings.  It’s set up and and is working well.

There’s only one quality of life issue with my current setup.

Right now, NextPVR records the show, mcebuddy watches the recording folder and during the transcoding hours, it will grab the recording, transcoded it to h264 and drops the transcoded file in another watch folder where Emby’s auto-organize plugin moves it into the library.

Once the episode has been transcoded, it deletes the original recording.

The problem at the moment is that NextPVR keeps a stub entry of the original recording, which it cannot play back because it’s been transcoded.  At the moment my only option is to manually delete these stub entries.

Is there a way for NextPVR to check recording stubs against the files, and automatically remove recording entries from its database of the file is no longer there?

Automation EPG Updates not being scheduled
Posted by: NumberFive - 2021-03-17, 10:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hello,

Got a strange one.  In the last week or so I've discovered that my automatic EPG updates are not occuring.  Manual EPG updates still seem to work.  I've checked the obvious like the settings screen, and confirmed the settings in config.xml:

Code:
<EPGUpdateHour>4</EPGUpdateHour> <EPGUpdateTime>04:00:00</EPGUpdateTime> <EPGUpdateEnabled>true</EPGUpdateEnabled>

Also tried restarting the recording service.

Weirdly the logs show that on 14th March:

Code:
2021-03-13 19:48:36.490 [DEBUG][10] Requesting wake up for 'EPGWAKEUP-backup' at 14/03/2021 04:00 2021-03-13 19:48:36.492 [DEBUG][10] Requesting wake up for 'EPGWAKEUP' at 14/03/2021 04:00 2021-03-13 19:48:36.492 [DEBUG][10] Next EPG update time: 14/03/2021 04:00

In which case NextPVR did grab logs.  But, the logs don't show a request for EPGWAKEUP for subsequent days.

Any thoughts on what I might try to fix whatever has become upset?    (Logs attached)

Thanks Smile

Could not save the timer. Check the log
Posted by: Penfold - 2021-03-17, 04:52 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (17)

Hi,

Firstly thanks so much for creating Next PVR it's a fantastic bit of software.

I have Kodi Matrix and Next PVR V5 on a windows 10 PC with a 4ch TBS Freesat receiver card

99.9% of the time it works flawlessly but today I am trying to record a program later on in the day by selecting it on the guide in Kodi and pressing record on my remote, or by using the mouse/keyboard to record.

The error I get is as follows:

Error
Could not save the timer. Check the log for more information about this message

I have had a look in the logs from Next PVR and I can see the request but it fails at

I have attached the logs in a ZIP

Has anyone got an Idea what could be wrong?

Kind regards

Andy

  Channels Not Working

I have tried to get Nextpvr setup the last few days. Each time it seems to work for a few hours, but then stops. Trying a channel it says "starting devices, please wait"  for a bit then says "streaming failed (transcoder exited)"

  DVB subtitles missing
Posted by: Sebu7 - 2021-03-16, 10:55 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (17)

Hello,

I have a problem of missing DVB(-C) subtitles when using Linux version (Version: 5.1.0.201216) of NextPVR. Windows version (Version: 5.1.0.201216) seems to work fine in this case. I noticed this when I was using Kodi as client, so I started to investigate. Please note that I have also channels with DVB subtitles which work fine in Linux and this problem does not exist.

I have two recordings / .ts  files produced by NextPVR of same channel and program

1) When these files are played in VLC player, in both cases "Subtitle" menu is active and shows "DVB" selection and "Finnish" track. But only when playing Windows recording, subtitles are actually displayed by player.

2) When using "TSDoctor", subtitle track is only shown for Windows recording

Linux https://www.dropbox.com/s/n8fv8t7olxsv52...r.png?dl=0

Windows https://www.dropbox.com/s/qtq63ju4owia4r...r.png?dl=0

3) dvbsnoop shows PID 103 data only for Windows recording

Linux
dvbsnoop -s ts -if nextpvr_debian_madmax.ts | grep "PID: 103"
<nothing found>

Windows
dvbsnoop -s ts -if nextpvr_win10_madmax.ts | grep "PID: 103"
PID: 103 (0x0067)  [= ]
<above repeated multiple times>

3) ffmpeg -i does not show any obvious difference:
