M3U to STRM Utility - VOD on Kodi
Posted by: MadBeggar - 2021-03-13, 12:24 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - No Replies

Hi all,

This one is going to take a tiny bit to explain :
My IPTV provider has, on top of its live channels, a large collection of VOD.
The problem is, when importing those into NextPVR and setting <sendVOD>  to true, the huge quantity of data/channels is hard to stomach for Kodi or even for the default web UI on NextPVR.

In order to bypass the issue, I've created a simple script called m3u2strm

What it does is to generate a directory structure containing strm files for each stream available in an m3u file.
It will create a individual folders for each group in the m3u and then create individual strm files in each group folder.

The result is a simple directory structure that you can share with Kodi . You can browse it like any other file system share you would store your videos on but instead of holding the actual media, it just has strm files that point to the media remotely.

I thought I would share it here in case someone wants to give it a go.
Its written in PHP and requires "composer" to download the dependencies.

You can find it here : https://github.com/ggiraudon/m3u2strm

Let me know if I can help or if you have any suggestions on how to make it better.

NPVR stops streaming and needs restarting
Posted by: gdogg371 - 2021-03-12, 10:01 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

Hi am running NPVR as a Kodi backend. After a lot of automating bits and pieces and building a connection to an STB box, set up now works great...however, couple of issues:

1) Was working great last night. But when I got up this morning, first couple of streams I tried to play worked for a few seconds and then stopped. After that they would not play at all. To resolve I had to completely close down the NPVR server and web UI, reboot and then go back to Kodi. Works again after that. Are there some buffers or something that need flushing somewhere?
2) The EPG load in to Kodi as I have a lot of channels is extremely slow and during that initial period streams will not play properly. Is there anything that can be done to address this?

I should point out I am still on build Version: 5.0.1.200103, however will be upgrading soon. Aspiration for this set up is that it will be reliable enough that family members can also use it. Currently running on Windows 10, but have a Linux machine ready to roll, so will soon be migrating to that...

  Remote streaming not working?
Posted by: terabitz - 2021-03-11, 07:14 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (7)

Hello,

This issue did not pop up until version 5.1.0.201216, but I have not been able to watch the direct streams of my channels outside of my home network ever since the latest release came out a couple of months ago.

I'm talking about the stream access via http://ip:8866/live?channel=x which still works fine on my LAN, but not outside of my home network.

This cannot be an issue with my firewall since I am able to access the web UI just fine outside of my LAN, as well as the transcoded streams from inside the web UI.

I've set <AllowRemoteStreaming>true</AllowRemoteStreaming> in my config.xml file as well at C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\

I'll attach my latest logs as well.

Thanks again!

  Dummy EPG for a channel
Posted by: jojeparent - 2021-03-11, 04:16 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hello

Can we just add our own information for a channel.  Like xTeVe we have the option to add a dummy EPG for a channel if we don't have epg for it.  It would be useful has we can't tune the channel in the guide when there is no info.

I've posted this over on the Kodi forum as well in case there is a way of doing what I want in Kodi...however in case there is an NPVR based method, is there a way of telling via something in the log, a backend DB, anywhere that the channel load into Kodi has been completed? I'm building some automation steps that do various things in both NPVR and Kodi. I could set a timer in a script that says to wait X number of minutes, but I would prefer a more precise method than that if possible...

Unable to StartStream(): The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

Hello,

I have trying to get NextPVR working on Debian Buster 10 arm64 with 4.4.213 kernel on a Pine Rock64 SBC.
I have installed is as written on github and got it up. I have plugged my RTL2832U DVB-T receiver and it recognized it and I was able to scan the channels.
After, I tried to open the stream from the browser and it failed (Transcoder Exited).
I have seen that this is possible to be caused by ffmpeg, so I fired up kodi and tried to connect from there.
Kodi downloaded all the channels and I tried to open one but it failed.
I had a look at the logs, but I wasn't able to find a solution.

Best regards,
Alberto

  Recordings truncated
Posted by: lkraus - 2021-03-10, 04:04 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

I'm running into a problem lately with my recorded programs being cut short. Sometimes I get nearly all the show, sometimes only a minute or two.  As best I can understand the log, the programs are being received, but not recorded. In the log file for tonight (2021-03-09), I see NCIS being received from 20:00 to 21:00, but the actual .ts file is only the first 1:21 of the show.

I do see "[ERROR][9] writer.Close() did not complete in a timely fashion".

This has been happening for the past couple weeks, but some shows record completely while others are incomplete. Any suggestions for correcting this problem?

recording always cutoff at the start
Posted by: Qcom - 2021-03-10, 03:52 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

Hi, I've been trying to solve this myself, but I can't seem to get it. I did a new machine build but every time I setup a recording it always cuts off the first two minutes no matter what the pre padding is set to.

its an i5 10600 with an msi board, integrated graphics (for the time, stupid chip shortage) 16 gig ram 500 gig nvme drive

it wakes up correctly but I have no idea why its happening. This is a clean install of npvr 5 too using hdhomerun 3 tuner cable card.

  which distro is best?
Posted by: eastavin - 2021-03-09, 10:06 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (9)

Just looking for simplicity. What is the most likely distro to work with the least headaches?  I have several machines I was going to put it on.  All Intel 64 bit 2 gen, 4th gen, 8th gen.   I was thinking of MX Linux, Debian and Lubuntu.  Are any of these going to work? Whatever the choice it will go on all the machines.  Or is another one better hands down?  If so I can switch.

Many thanks for your input.

Edward

PCI and USB tuners on same system
Posted by: mcbloggs - 2021-03-09, 12:44 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (6)

I have both Windows 10 and Linux systems both with Nextpvr V5. They both have pci (TBS6205) and usb (hauppuage) tuners installed.
Windows will detect and configure both tuners. Linux will not. I can have one or the other but not both. I cannot find this to be a restriction
antwhere in the documentation. Is it or is it a bug ?
Regards.
