Update issues: Auto-buffering TV, Wave Volume and Showing Plugins
Posted by: JoeCollegeUL - 2007-07-26, 03:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi, i just updated to the new versions and was having some issues:

1
When i go to watch live tv it starts auto-buffering automatically. Is that now normal behavior, and if so, is there a setting I can be turned back off?

2
When I watch tv or videos/recordings, I have NO volume. I haven't tried music yet. I figured out it was turning the wave volume completely down (not muting). Has any one else had this problem, and is there a way to fix it pre-next update.

3
When i installed/unzipped my usual plug-ins, they didn't show up under the plug-ins tab. Is there a compatibility issue?

And last but not least, do I need to roll back to the old version for a bit longer if I need full functionality back?

Display Current Time in Default Skin
Posted by: obiwan - 2007-07-26, 03:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Is there an option to have the current time displayed next to the Heading in PVRX2?
I only see it in the Mainmenu page.

WAF = 100%

Disable auto-restart recording service, green light stuck on and no standby problems
Posted by: pvruser - 2007-07-26, 12:29 AM - Forum: Slimm GB-PVR and GBPVRcli - Replies (10)

i'm using a wake.cmd script with GBPVRWake.exe to restart the cards by calling devcon.exe whenever the computer comes back from standby. however to do this it has to stop the service and restart it 15 or so seconds later when it's done restarting the cards.

the problem is that Slimm GB-PVR is complaining that the service crashed and it restarts it sometimes before restarting the cards is done.

is it possible to add a delay into the crash-restart script so that it waits 30 seconds before restarting especially if its not recording yet? that would help a lot.

you could have 2 values: one for when it's supposed to record and it crashes, the other one for when it's not recording anything and it crashed. the second case is the one i need help with.

the other problem i'm having is that when i select a delayed standby the machine doesnt go to standby, it just hangs in the "recording" stage with the "green flashing circle". i have not managed to get it to work yet.

hope you can add this -- its a great add-on to GBpvr!
Thanks!

Error: Specified Cast Is Not Valid
Posted by: murf64 - 2007-07-25, 10:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Sub,
I Just Changed To Version 1.08, But I Get This Message "Error: Specified Cast Is Not Valid" When I Try To Use Either TV Guide, Recordings, Or Search Guide. I Also Can't Load A Recording Source In Config. Actually I Can Load It But It Immediently Dumps It. So When I Use Live TV It Says There's No Recording Source. Thanks For Your Help And All Your Work.

  Help With UpdateEPG.bat
Posted by: smajor - 2007-07-25, 09:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Hello, I'm a Newbie at doing a batch file and am having a problem. Below is my .bat file that I am having issues with. It's been at the root of my GBPVR directory just as suggested, but during the EPG Update it doesn't appear to be called. I have one source using the XMLTV file and one using Zap2It (the latter soon to be replaced.)

"C:\Program Files\YahooXMLTv\YahooXMLTv.exe"
copy "C:\Program Files\YahooXMLTv\Time Warner Cable (Watertown).xml" N:\

If I double click the .bat file it executes perfectly and does what I want.

I looked in my logs and GB-PVR does seem to be doing a listings update with Zap2It and is loading the XML listings at the scheduled. I didn't see anything specific in the log that said it was executing the .bat before the listings update. Should I have?

  Manual record ?
Posted by: Clanky - 2007-07-25, 09:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (27)

v1.08 - PVRX2

I recorded Top Gear Polar Special tonight by selecting the program in the TV Guide & clicking on quick record. (UK, BBC2)

It recorded ok except that it was saved in the Manual recordings folder instead of the Top Gear Polar Special folder. IIRC, this didn't happen with the old version (0.9912)

Should this happen, sub?

TV Channels have different aspect ratios??
Posted by: yoda - 2007-07-25, 09:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi all,

I'm using a hauppauge nova s-plus watching dvb-s freeview satalite in New Zealand and most things are now working but...

...Channel 3 and ch4 seem to change the aspect ratio depending on different programs

I have set the aspect to 16:9 and have tried using different cedecs i.e. MVP, GPL, Hauppauge etc. but still the same result.

Ch1, Ch2, seem to be pretty stable but the others seem to change according to the what program is broadcast i.e. if i watch the news on ch3 then the studio coverage is fine but if they break away to a clip that clip will show as a pillar box. and other shows are completely pillar box. changing aspect with F7 only serves to screw up the other channels if i change back to Ch1 or Ch2.

Am i missing something or is this a broadcast issue??

One channel missing DVB-T EPG data (UK)
Posted by: inheritthewind - 2007-07-25, 08:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (40)

I've just installed GBPVR v1.0.8 after running MediaPortal for a while on my HTPC with a Freecom USB DVB-T stick. Most things are going well apart from Channel 4 (UK Freeview). I've installed and reinstalled, updated, rescanned for channels, cleared and updated, but Channel 4 has a persistent empty EPG. This also means the channel is missing from the EWA.

All the other channels EPG come down fine, and the Channel 4 EPG works on my STB and MediaPortal.

Do any other users have this problem, or have any advice on a fix? I've searched the forums for a while, and found a related patch, but that was a while ago for a previous version. I'm presuming that this has been built into the current version.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Booting MVP from NAS and wake-on-LAN for TV server?
Posted by: mrayle - 2007-07-25, 07:01 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (3)

Hello! (This is essentially crossposted from the SHSPVR forums)

I received my MVP box yesterday and have already become convinced that I need to use the mvpmc dongle. I am interested in purchasing a NAS box to store media (pictures/audio/video). The wife is interested in not having to have a PC on all the time to be the server for the MVP.

I am wondering if I can boot my MVP from the NAS which will be always on.

In this forum, I saw that there is a method to use mvpmc to mount a share from the NAS, but it wasn't clear if this method totally eliminates the PC server being active.

Furthermore, when I have the video capture portion of the project purchased and installed (the WAF is causing this delay), I want to be able to have the MVP turn on the TV server remote (wake on LAN). Is this possible?

So basically, the wife wants a way to get to pictures and audio without having the PC on, wasting energy and creating heat. Is this possible?

On the gbpvr forums, I saw another user desiring to do the same thing I am want to do. The response basically said that the solution was not an easy thing to do and was not straightforward.

Also, I saw that the response said something along the lines of "why would you want to go thru the trouble?"

To that, I want to ask: "What exactly do you recommend?"

If I put the dongle.config file in a place where the MVP can find it over the network, does the MVP handle a reboot or green button power off/power on if the dongle itself is unavailable on the network and also there is no server serving the dongle?

Thanks!!
Mike
