Client will not play live TV
Posted by: ACTCMS - 2007-06-10, 05:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I've now been playing with GB-PVR for about a week and making good progress. I've setup Client/Server using file sharing and everything is working fine except for viewing live TV on the client.

I get 'Starting timeshift mode...' screen and it just sits there - Esc key brings me back to where I requested live TV so it's not hanging. The server logs show the timeshift recording starting and stoping and the client logs show the 'Before live TV' and 'After live TV' events, but no picture or sound.

I've clean installed GB-PVR or both machines a couple of times. I've also installed the KLite Codec packs on both systems (default settings).

I've reached a bit of an impass so any clues as to where I should be looking next would be greatly appreciated

  Recording quality settings??
Posted by: HomerDK - 2007-06-10, 05:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi.

Does the gbpvr always record in the best quality?

I know that there are several settings, but where do I put so it always records in the best quality as default?

Thanks.

  Just a few problems....
Posted by: Techybloke - 2007-06-10, 04:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

I am in the process of getting my system up and running and things are going quite well so far. I just have a few questions which I hope you seasoned pros can help me with Smile

1) If I enable full screen mode from my Nvidia control panel then the video is very smooth but the video doesn't fit the entire screen of my widescreen TV and also I don't see any of the gbpvr info panels. If I disable full screen mode then everything is fine, apart from the fact that when using VMR9 custom (I installed the patch) the video breaks up when fast moving things are on the screen. I have found that using VMR7 fixes this problem, although I don't know why.....(I have a DX9 Geforce 6200 card).....I have also found that using VMR7 that the picture doesn't fill the entire screen - I get black borders.........Have I got the correct settings? Smile (I have a Haupauppage Nova-T)

2) I have a P4 system and when I put the system into standby the HDs shutdown, but the CPU fan still functions - is this correct?

3) I tried recording a programme from the TV by pressing the red record button on my Hauppage remote, everything was fine, but I tried to stop the recording by pressing the stop button, but gbpvr still reported that the prog was still recording (and also the record service)....?

Thanks for your help Smile

  Format OS. Associate old recordings?
Posted by: negid - 2007-06-10, 03:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I just fomatted my OS partition and have everything back up and running. (GBPVR actually looks better than it did before. YAY!) But my question now is: Is there a way to associate old recordings (on another partition) with my new install of GBPVR?

  SystemStatus Status
Posted by: Smoker - 2007-06-10, 12:09 PM - Forum: Recording2, MusicLibrary2, SystemStatus Support - Replies (9)

Greetings psycik

I was wondering what the status is of your plugin. I ask because I was wondering if you would possibly release the source code. I have a few ideas that I wouldn't want to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

For instance I want to put some raid drives in and because I want raid I would want to keep track of their status. Loss of data would be a big problem.

Another thought is to monitor the output of MBM (MotherBoard Monitor).

blue lines right and bottom and MP3 error
Posted by: mjlef - 2007-06-10, 06:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I love GB-PVR but have two problems:

1. When running full screen on WIndows Vista, I see a light blue line along the right and bottom edges of the screen all the time. How do I get rid of that?

2. When trying to play MP3 files, I get an "image error" dialog boc reporting errors which reads title: "Windows - Bad Image" text in the window: "Exception Processing Message 0xc000007b Parameters 0x75E8023C 0x75E8023C 0x75E8023c 0x75E8023C". I click OK but the program then just hangs.

I tried uninstalling an reinstalling. Oh, videos play back fine. Suggestions?

Kiwi's - Best NZ capture card?
Posted by: KiwiKid - 2007-06-10, 04:57 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (27)

Hello my fellow Kiwi's.

I'm finally in a position to update my puter to one that will handle video. I would like to be able to capture video (S-video source) and was wondering if there are any suggestions as to a good card here in NZ.

Is there a good combination of hardware and software? It would seem most cards tend toward TV, but I'm more interested in video capture than anything else (as opposed to having TV on my puter). What file format do most cards capture in?

Also, are there any card that can connect to a front plug connection point (So you don't have to fish around the back of the puter to connect) or are breakout box type capture cards better? USB or Firewire?

Looking for some recommendations - Thx in advance.

  99.12 patches
Posted by: digimon - 2007-06-10, 02:42 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am planning to upgrade from 99.5 to 99.12. I am somewhat hesitant because 99.5 is working flawlessly. But then again, I like to have the latest and greatest.

I noticed that there are several patches that exist for 99.12. However, I was wondering if these patches are already included in the latest download version. I think I read in this forum that there is a 99.12b available. Therefore, I am not sure if I still need to apply the patches in the Survival Guide. Please let me know what patches I need to apply once I complete the upgrade.

Thanks,
Digimon

  Interesting Music Library (mis?)behavior
Posted by: safrax - 2007-06-10, 02:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I've noticed something interest about the Music Library when listening to, or rather trying to listen to, some music. I have my music library set to pull from a smb share on another computer. The filesystem on the other computer is NTFS and it runs Windows XP. The computer hosting GBPVR runs Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Code:
E:\Tagged\Placebo\Placebo - Meds>dir Volume in drive E is MP3 Volume Serial Number is 90E6-577D Directory of E:\Tagged\Placebo\Placebo - Meds 05/15/2007 10:13 AM <DIR> . 05/15/2007 10:13 AM <DIR> .. 05/15/2007 10:17 AM 5,726,208 Placebo - Because I Want You.mp3 05/15/2007 10:17 AM 6,819,840 Placebo - Blind.mp3 05/15/2007 10:17 AM 7,139,328 Placebo - Broken Promise (feat. The above are the files im trying to listen to in GB-PVR. The only files that will play are Infra-Red and Song To Say Goodbye. The others do not play and skip directly to either Infra-Red or Song to Say Goodbye depending on which one comes first. Nothing is wrong with any of the files as they will play just fine on the GBPVR machine in Media Player Classic. There are entire directories of music that GBPVR simply will not play and I do not know why. Any ideas?

Edit: Additional details I forgot to mention: GB-PVR .99.012 or something like that. No plugins except for the default ones.

Also as a sidenote, GB-PVR doesn't seem to support FLAC as it will never list them in the directory browser.

  Make GBPVRPlugInSkeleton work?
Posted by: capone - 2007-06-09, 09:42 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I've been going through some of the examples to work, and I would like to try out playing w/ the GBPVRPlugInSkeleton. It has a settings panel, an easy to read layout, and some basics I'm interested in programing.

Was it possible to make that work, or was it never functional? It's missing CommonGBPVRUtilities so it can be built, but I didn't know if it could be built even if it had that.
