DVD Navigator Problems VMR9 and Overlay
Posted by: crashbowman - 2007-06-03, 03:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have been having problems using my remote with GBPVR on a LCD HDTV since I started using the Power DVD decoder. I read this article of how to allow Power DVD to use VMR 9 instead of overlay and it did help, but there are still some menus on almost all DVD's that I cannot navigate. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas and any advice on what I will miss if I use Overlay instead of VMR9. Like I said I am using a LCD HDTV, 8500GT Video Card and a strong enough system to run whatever. Here is a link to how I enabled Power DVD for VMR9.

Thanks,
John

The "new" Frontend for my system
Posted by: Zathras - 2007-06-03, 12:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I had some spare time this weekend and had a brilliant (???) idea.
My P-III 700Mhz with has been collecting dust in the closet for quite a while.
I wondered if it had the capability to be a GBPVR front end.

Long story short, after loading Windows XP and GBPVR the system performed flawlessly in overlay mode. I was amazed with the performance even though it only had 256 meg of memory and an ATI video card with a whopping 16 meg of memory.
In VRM9 mode there was a very slight hesitation which I am sure would go away with higher memory.

Not sure that this post will help anyone else. I just wanted to share the experience :p

Long Live GBPVR! Kevin

  Newbie Streaming Question
Posted by: Spuffmonkey - 2007-06-02, 11:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi - I've been reading a lot of documentation and support threads - but I'm not really clear if GBPVR can do what I want - I have a lot of music & videos stored on my PC - can I use GBPVR to watch/listen to these across my network? If so - whats the easiest way to do it (all XP based).

Thanks

  ZProcess: Manual Transcode playback problem
Posted by: KiddBludd - 2007-06-02, 09:47 PM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (7)

Ok, I'm a sort of a newbie. I'm loving this program, and I probably would have returned my MediaMVP for my money back a long time ago if it wasn't for ZProcess. I've been able to find solutions to all of my problems through research and a lot of reading, but this one's eluding me.

I hope someone can help me:

Basically, I'm too impatient to wait out the on-the-fly transcoding, so I thought it would be a nice solution to just load up the ZProcess Queue and transcode all of my files, like say, while I take a shower or walk my dog, so it's all ready for me when I want to watch it. (we're talking .avi files mostly).
I run into two major problems when I do this (and one minor):

1. The file may transcode completely and the resulting .mpg will play perfectly on my PC, but on MVP it will play without sound. I tried playing it with just GBPVR (on my PC) and at first it was playing the file super-fast. So I changed the transcode profile from Trans2MVP to 2mpg and this solved the problem for GBPVR, but still no audio on MediaMVP.

2. Sometimes the files don't transcode completely. I may get 10min's off a 40min file. So far, this seems to be hit or miss, but I'd like to know if there's a way to ensure it works properly everytime.

The minor issue: the processing timer for TranscodeQ doesn't do anything. I don't really care for this, but just wondered why it's there if it doesn't work or if there's a fix.

I appreciate any help you guys can provide for this. Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I haven't been able to find a thread for it anywhere. If one exists, please point me in the right direction.
THANKS!Big Grin

  Scrolling text blurry
Posted by: negid - 2007-06-02, 08:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I've just about got my HTPC the way I like it. The only thing i've found that doesn't quite look right is the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen. Like you would see at the bottom of ESPN. It's just a little blurry as it goes by. Anyone have any suggestions?

  NEW PLUGIN: Sleep Timer
Posted by: 23skidoo - 2007-06-02, 05:02 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (8)

I resurrected the Sleep Timer project. Well, actually I killed the old one dead and created a new one from scratch.

For some reason I don't have sufficient permission to edit the wiki entry; nevertheless, you can download the new Sleep Timer here. It's even simpler than the old one. (I don't think the old one even works anymore.)

There's just the one DLL. Let the setup program copy it to your plugins directory, or copy it manually; no skin files or other support stuff to worry about.

This new sleep timer is configured via the GB-PVR Config program. You set the number of minutes you want GB-PVR to run. To activate or de-activate it, just select the Sleep Timer button from within GB-PVR.

Note that the Sleep Timer shuts down GB-PVR itself, but does NOT shut down the GB-PVR recording service.

Enjoy. Post any bugs or questions on this thread (assuming that's OK with the moderator).

Oh, one final note: Even though you configure the Sleep Timer via the GB-PVR Config program, once you close the Sleep Timer configuration dialog, your changes are set. That is, you don't have to subsequently click OK on the GB-PVR config screen (thereby forcing a restart of the recording service).

Problem watching and recording at the same time
Posted by: kebabman - 2007-06-02, 04:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am having a problem with my pinnacle dual diversity stick of watching and recording at the same time. If I setup to record a program and then view another channel i just get a 6k file size created for the recording when it starts. If I start recording and then try to view another channel i get a blank screen but the recording works OK. If I look at recording status it shows both operations as occuring. Any help very gratefully received please.

  Request: Closed caption
Posted by: pvruser - 2007-06-02, 02:15 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

i bought the Twinhan 3250 ATSC card and i'm quite surprised with the features of the software. among those features there's Closed captioning. the current version on their website doesnt work that well on my computer but the version that came on the CD works with both my tuners (3250 and the USB HVR 950) and displays the CC. i'm assuming all they added was just another filter since it supports multiple cards.
i was wondering if that can be added to GBPVR either by muxing into the recordings or saving as subtitle files and loading at playback. of course the files might be an issue if one does commercial editing but then again muxing will also be a problem if one transcodes to lower rez... still i think it would be useful if implemented.

Thanks!
