Is there any requirement to have GBPVR GUI closed when a scheduled recording starts, or other similar requirements?
I just got back from a 2 week vacation, and GBPVR had worked perfectly, recording everything it was supposed to. But then last night, while I was active on my computer in GBPVR, it messed up again, missing recording House, while doing fine with another program at the same time.
This kind of thing happens regularly but intermittent, and it seems to be related to activity or state of the computer at the time of recording.. Are there any known issues in this regard?

I am currently using the Plugin "Programme Image Tool" but 2 weeks of EPG (435 Shows) only finds 40 odd icons every time it updates ... which is not a great hit rate :-(.
I'd like to vote for more (or selectable?) online databases in searched dbases (e.g. I use XRecord) to be used for the SHOW (not channel) ICON download. I also have to have a batch file which copies or movies these to my XRecord media dir.
VideoArchive BETA has a nice function "The plug-in will now attempt to extract a jpeg image from recordings using FFMPEG to use as the poster image for TV recordings or DVDs if one is not found via the Internet lookup. The images should appear within a few minutes of navigating into a directory that currently does not have images." which I try use, but to have it installed JUST for that is not really what I'd like to use on my "skinny" system. Jeff of the VideoArchive plugin says he puts icons in the folder the shows go into (folder.jpg).
Programme Image Tool seems to North America /Euro-centric, database-wise, which is maybe why it is not so good where I live. Is there a possibility of selecting a database focus for other regions?
XMLTVIcons has an <icon> option if your grabber supports it.
I guess I'm looking for as many show icons to be downloaded automatically to the correct folders and attributed to the correct show with as few manual interventions as possible ... ... as there are so many plugins doing this, maybe there could be a bit of a heads-together to agree a unified system for this...
I do not know where to post bugs, so I apologize beforehand.
It seems there is a problem displaying multibyte characters for filenames. I am using chinese (zh_tw) filenames and they do not display properly on the My videos / My Pictures / My Music file list.
The directory names are correct.
After some investigation, it seems that it is not a font problems (checked the skins). It may be related to the @filename and @foldername variables defined differently. folder name is fine but filename seems to be strip to 7-bits.
Hi, I'm new to these forums, but I've been using GB-PVR for about 2-3 months now since the trial on Beyond TV ran out, and so far I'm pretty happy.
Anyways, I'm running an X1300 and I have a DVI output to a 22" WS LCD for my primary monitor, then s-video to a 24" TV as extended desktop.
In config when I choose "start on second monitor" it doesn't do anything, and GBPVR still starts on my LCD. I have to choose "open in windowed mode" and then maximize it on the TV.
How an I make it open to full screen mode on the TV automatically?
On SageTV, it allows you to specify more than one directory for your recording directory. If you fill up the first, it automatically goes to the 2nd. I"ve got my 300 Gig HD partitioned and would like to use the 2nd partition as an overflow. Is there a way to do this with GBPVR?
I noticed this problem: I was recording a show and started watching it while it was still recording (time shift). No problem. When the show ended the recording stopped. But this crashed the mediaserver. After it restarted itself I was able to start watching it again. This happened a few times last week. I use 99.12. Any ideas?
herbs - you sent me your HIP config (awhile ago - many thanks, again)
can you briefly advise on what i need to configure after loading the config file? anything at all?
would it be easy just to follow the instructions to configure HIP/MCE IR/Blaster from scratch but use your key mapping file as opposed to doing my own?
appreciate your advice...
ps. i bought another remote/beanbag and drivers now ok - didn't know hauppauge MCE kit is for MCE only....cr@ppy things!
Just few suggestions for an otherwise nice product:
1) In the user interface, have a common way of handling files that have been recorded and those that are in the video library. For example, to delete a recorded file, you need to select the file (as if playing it), and choose delete, whereas in the video library, you go to an entirely different left-hand pane submenu. Also, a recorded file has a resume option before playing, whereas the video library starts to play the file before asking if you want to resume. Just to state my preferences, I wish everything worked like the recorded files. I know this isn't a big deal since everything works, but it's a usability suggestion.
2) Push the main menu and OSD inwards a bit, to accomodate overscan displays. On my tv, I can't read the left few letters of the program description or the right digits of the clock on the OSD, and the leftmost characters in the main menu choices are cut off. I know it's possible to resize the gbpvr output, but I prefer 1:1 picture clarity. It would be nice if the display lettering was repositioned to accomodate CRTs.
3) When changing channels, have the screen go blank instead of flickering as the channels are changing. My tv's tuner does this by default, and the time to change channels actually feels shorter when the screen is blank than when you "almost" see the next channel flicker through for a second before being able to watch.
Just a few ideas on what I'd love to see incorporated. Even if no suggestions are taken, I'd still love this program.
I thought that gbpvr would allow me to watch the bbc hd freview (dvb-t) trial but trying to view it crashes the system. Is it possible or could my set up be wrong.
