I would like to use GB-PVR to easily convert recorded TV shows and videos to XviD for playback on my Palm (Zire 71).
I currently use Pocket DivX Encoder and have some conversion settings setup that work well on the low spec Palm hardware. It uses mencoder for its conversion but I reckon, given the right parameters GB-PVR's ffmpeg can do the same thing.
Unfortunately I know squat about mencoder/ffmpeg command line options so wondered if anyone here could help me? The command Pocket DivX Encoder uses is:
The general settings I use for the Palm video file are (I don't know what they all mean mind): Video 320x180, 16fps, 24kbps, 2-pass encoding with b-frames Audio 3200hz, 32kbps, mono
I've been having trouble with the mce replacement driver as many of you might of seen my other posts.
But now I've gone and searched for the files and ran across the MceIr.dll existing in the Program Files\devnz\gbpvr and Program Files\EventGhost\plugins\MceRemote directories.
So which one is being used ? Neither of them are the same as the one from the mce replacement driver.
I think that my freezing was due to using the alt mce driver replacement but not sure.
What I see during livetv is that the screen freezes and there are 4 or 5 very thin vertical lines evenly spaced. I can't do anything but push the button to reboot.
I was wondering if anyone else has had freezing problems with similar symptoms ?
Being a noob when it comes to ffmpeg I don't know if one of these params are wrong. I've tried it with a range of files and nothing happens on either of my machines (which are running Windows XP and v0.99.12 if GBPVR).
I tried to record The Unit last night (May 1) at 9:00 PM with my Hauppaugge HVR-1600 using the ATSC tuner. Instead of recording channel 8.1, it recorded channel 8.3. I can watch programs on channel 8.1 fine and I was able to record a program this morning, but for some reason it recorded the wrong channel last night. I am using GB-PVR v0.99.012. I am not running any plug-ins that I know of. I have attached my logs.
I have GB-PVR running on Windows, works great, no worries
The only issue I have is that I cannot go backwards in any way (skip back, play in reverse, whatever). I don't even know whats possible for going in reverse, I've never done it. All I want to do is be able to skip back and see some incredible scene again without starting from the beginning and skipping forward.
The indicator light on the IR reciever blinks as it recieves *something* from the remote when I press the << button. But nothing happens. Skipping forward works fine. I actually bought another StreamZap remote, thinking maybe my first one was faulty (I'd had it too long to return it, and there was no response from StreamZap's tech support). No dice.
I tried using Notepad, as someone suggested it might show the characters or commands being captured by the IR reciever, but that was not the case.
So my question: how do I see what the remote is sending? How do I get the remote to send the right command to actually go backward? All other functions of the remote work perfectly.
Can someone help a newbie out? I've set up my Nova-T-500 card inside my PC just fine and can watch freeview channels fine using the ugly Hauppauge application.
I've also got my card to be recognised in GBPVR by modifying the bda.ini file to delete four 'spaces' as recommended in several topics here.
However I'm stuck at what to do about setting up my EPG...
Should my EPG source be XMLTV, or DVB EPG? If XMLTV, then which .xml file do I point it to use (I've downloaded the latest XMLTV file from their site). Any help on getting a newbie up and running very much appreciated.
I'm running XP Home SP2, live in London, and downloaded the gbpvr yesterday, so I assume it's the most recent version.
I have downloaded the plugintutorial.pdf and have a problem in add GBPVRPublic.dll to the reference. It says this file is not a dll or com. Anyone has any idea on this plugintutorial.pdf? Thanks.
Is there any requirement to have GBPVR GUI closed when a scheduled recording starts, or other similar requirements?
I just got back from a 2 week vacation, and GBPVR had worked perfectly, recording everything it was supposed to. But then last night, while I was active on my computer in GBPVR, it messed up again, missing recording House, while doing fine with another program at the same time.
This kind of thing happens regularly but intermittent, and it seems to be related to activity or state of the computer at the time of recording.. Are there any known issues in this regard?
