Just getting started with GB-PVR with an HVR-1600 (analog for now). I'm no stranger to DVRs, digital video, transcoding and such, but just wrapping my head around all of this together with GB-PVR.
In short, I want to do what everyone else wants to do:
- record a program
- rename to include episode name
- clean/cut commercials
- transcode to avi (divx/xvid)
There are many solutions on the boards, and wondering where the most success has been or if there is a recommended solution.
So far I have employed comskip, comclean, and addEpisode in my postprocessing.bat file, in conjunction with processing setting in the GB-DVR config to transcode to divx (w/custom setting in the config.xml for 320x240 for my Archos PMA400).
It's working, sort of, but I need help with the ordering of the events, I think, as I got 3 files:
- original show.mpg,
- show_cleaned.mpg and
- show.avi (not cleaned).
No files renamed, but that may be due to my test show was David Letterman (poor choice for a test, I suppose).
Insight into what a proper postprocessing.bat file should look like/ordering would be most appreciated, or if I'm barking up the wrong tree altogether. Should I be using zprocess? mencoder solution? other scripts? There's lots of choices and I simply want to benefit from the experience of others.
I have a problem where when I'm recording an ATSC channel (using hvr-1600), it will start to record, but at some point during the program, the recording will stop, but the recording service will still report that it's recording that program. The recording service never stops thinking that unless I restart it.
The dvr-ms file is created, but it will not load.
For example, I recorded "Thank god you're here" on NBC the other night, and it created a 5GB or so file, but after the show, I found that gbpvr still thought it was recording, but wasn't. I restarted, but the file won't play.
Is there any utility out there that can fix these dvr-ms files, so I can play it?
Was looking closer to my PQ and noticed that the difference between tv through gbpvr and straight through the coax was some sharpness. i am using the nvideo decoder currently. So I am wondering what settings (or different decoders) I should look at to clear up the sharpness of my picture.
Besides what was mentioned in the tutorial, any other suggestions?
I'd love to have the extended xp start menu w/ two columns and recently launched programs since the vista classic look gives a start menu that's more like 2k/95/98.
-To make start menu pop out faster:
start regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, and set value of MenuShowDelay to 0.
To put the menubar at top of ie7, edit the registry w/ the following commands:
I keep reading that if a client/server setup is required, it is suggested that SQLite is used. However I cannot find any information of how to set this up with GB. I have never being able to view TV or Videos remotely, only pictures, and Audio, thought using a database might help. I do not have a firewall, and all directories are shared. I also read that you should setup directories as path names, cannot really see why you would need to do this when the directories are available on the network anyway. Any enlightenment on this would be great.
Hi (especially those from the US that have MVPs in their GBPVR-based system)
I have noticed that the sale stock of MVPs in Sweden is getting low... I bought mine a month ago as one supplier had them on discount. I was lucky to get one.
In a few places, they are still in stock, but expensive. So I am considering when I will go to the US in two weeks to purchase one or even two while being there. Order at Amazon, and ship to the hotel.
In Sweden the plain wired one costs (USD exchange rate) around $160.
But before I do that, and also because there is some experience on MVP in this forum, I would like to ask if there would be any problem on using a US MVP in Europe.
I am hoping that the power adaptor can be run on 230V 50Hz (of course using a socket adaptor, you know). Can someone in the US verify this? If you look at the marking label on your MVP power adaptor.
Or, should I wait a bit if there are signs that Hauppauge is about to release an upgraded model? Maybe one that can do mpeg-4, dvd and HD...
The MVP is a nice thing, but it is getting a bit old.
I recently switched from using a PVR150 to a Nova-T-USB2 (i.e. analog to DVB-T) for TV capture.
I want to record in mpeg rather than dvr-ms format so I have installed the Intervideo BDA MUX and selected this in the config app Miscelaneous tab.
I tried this out last night but it seems to produce mpeg files which play audio but no video in GBPVR. I have tried playing these files in WMP and the result is the same.
I don't think it is a playback issue as the old mpeg recordings I made with the PVR150 still play fine in GBPVR. I have also tried all of the mpeg decoders installed on my machine and none seem to resolve the problem.
